Finally, someone who actually tells what it is used for other than the 10,000 videos that only show how to make it! I just subscribed 😎👍

Thanks for the one-handed demo. I've seen it in print but it seemed too awkward to be practical. Once I saw you do I was able to easily tie it several times in just a few seconds each. You MAY have saved my life.

Pretty neat little trick there isn't it. I was taught that method by a firefighter friend of mine.

Great video of the Bowline.....it is perhaps the one knot everyone should know.....there will be a case where this knot will be the go-to knot...Thank you....Great Video..

Hi.. Comprehensive video. Love your tip about not using the knot in climbing/mountaineering. Can you tell me why you run the entire rope through the knot at 3:50 to show a rescue scenario? And how is a bowline noose (used in the example for helping cows during birth) different from a regular noose, as both of them go slack when pressure is removed?

Excellent. I wanted to know how to do one handed bowline. Now I must practise. What's up with your hand?

Wow, people used to clip in using a bowline? That gives me the heebie-jeebies.
@NatureReliance7 жыл бұрын
Yeah...scary isn't it? I saw this happening at an indoor gym last week as well...on a 40 foot wall.
@blackhillsoutdoorsman54877 жыл бұрын
Figure 8 follow through is much more common, however, if you use a bowline, an overhand knot is not an effective safety. A fisherman's knot or a barrel knot should be used.

@NatureReliance8 жыл бұрын
Its funny you ask. I do not normally watch TV as I do not have satellite, cable, or even an antenna for such things. However I do catch the Alone episodes after they have made it through primetime on the History Channel. Not all of them but a lot of them. I find the show entertaining and slightly educational. I am keenly interested in Survival Mindset (I wrote 5 chapters on the topic in my soon-to-be-published book on the topic. I am aware that we only see a tiny bit of what actually happens on the show, but I do think it shows a small portion of what is going through people's minds. I enjoy seeing the perseverence that some people display on the show. I am equally saddened by those who do not have respect for the wilderness and what it can teach them. With all that said, what do you think of the show? Which person do you think I look similar to?

You can't say it's not the king of knots for camping and woods, and not say what IS the king of knots for those purposes. Don't leave us hanging...what do you think the king of knots is for the great outdoors? Thanks.
