King of the Mountains

Parikrama around Govardhan Hill during the month of Kartika in Vrindavan, India is a favorite devotional activity for devotees of Lord Krsna. Chanting softly on our prayer beads our group of 400 devotees relished every step of the 24 kilometer walk. Ananta Vrindavan dasa’s outstanding footage captured the bliss of the pilgrimage.

Govardhana, o rei das Montanhas. Neste video vemos o parikrama ou a caminhada sagrada na companhia de Indradyuna Swami em torno da montanha de Govardhan durante o mês de Kartika em Vrindavan. Esta atividade devocional é a das mais favorita para devotos do senhor Krishna. Cantando suavemente em suas contas de oração japa logo na madrugada os devotos apreciam cada cenário passo a passo da caminhada de 24 quilômetros que dura por volta de 08hs. A montanha com suas pedras quebradas (Govardhana shilas) que aparecem em vários momentos lembram a historia de Hanuman no Rama Lila na era de Tetra Yuga. Quando Hanuman saiu com muita determinação para servir seu senhor Ramachandra procurando pedras para construção da famosa ponte sobre o oceano, chegou até Govardhana e queria levar a montanha inteira. Porém, o Senhor Krishna apareceu e lhe disse que não deveria leva-la pois no futuro uma Lila ou uma linda historia iria acontecer naquele local. Hanuman soltou a montanha no chão em obediência ao Senhor Krishna e por isso ela se quebrou em vários pedaços. Assim, na tetra yuga havia a predição da Krishna Lila ou Govardhana Puja. Pela benção de Krishna, todas as 16 vezes que viajamos a Índia fizemos este parikrama neste solo sagrado. Vendo este video da uma saudade danada mas pude me transportar para lá mais uma vez. I was transported to a most special place in India that I visited in my life. Govardhana, the king of the Mountains. In this video we see the parikrama or the sacred walk in the company of Indradyuna Swami around the mountain of Govardhan during the month of Kartika in Vrindavan. This devotional activity is the most favorite for Lord Krishna's devotees. Singing softly in their prayer beads japa at dawn devotees appreciate every step-by-step scenario of the 24-kilometer walk that lasts around 08hs. The mountain with its broken stones (Govardhana shilas) appearing at various times resemble the story of Hanuman in the Lila Rama in the Tetra Yuga era. When Hanuman left with much determination to serve his master Ramachandra looking for stones to build the famous bridge over the ocean, he came to Govardhana and wanted to take the whole mountain. However, Lord Krishna appeared and told him not to take her because in the future a Lila or a beautiful story would happen in that place. Hanuman dropped the mountain on the ground in obedience to Lord Krishna and so it broke into several pieces. Thus in the tetra yuga there was the prediction of Krishna Lila or Govardhana Puja. By the blessing of Krishna, all the 16 times we traveled to India we made this parikrama on this sacred ground.
