it showed Daemon having a plan but realizing he really does love her and pulled back because he didn’t want it to happen in a deceitful way. That’s why he was giving her advice about dropping her act during the side show and to start caring about what the common people think about her because she’s gonna need them to be on her side when she’s in charge. He’s loved by the common people and truly wants to help them. And when he ask to wed her, yes he has ambitions but it was mostly due actually wanting her. The show does a brilliant job making you think if he’s misunderstood or a bad guy
@suddenimpulse0302 жыл бұрын
This is mostly correct but not completely. He pulled back because he was expecting her to repel him but she didn't, and he wanted the power position in that situation, but she reversed it. The showrunners explain this in the Inside the Episode video attached to the episode.

One of the things I really like is how the relationship between Alicent and Rhaenyra is deteriorating. Despite all her attempts to stick her neck out for Rhaenyra and her rights when it would be SO much easier to vouch for Aegon like everyone else, Alicent finds that Rhaenyra has been acting like a spoilt brat, acting out to get attention and causing problems for everyone else. And the episode goes to lengths to stress how much Viserys has done to try and get Rhaenyra an appropriate match that satisfies her but she still spurns all offers, a situation Alicent never had yet it still isn’t good enough for Rhaenyra. You can see that while Rhaenyra’s actions are understandable as she’s being forced into a situation she doesn’t want, Alicent accepted her situation with diligence and grace and feels a bitter resentment towards Rhaenyra as she gets away with so much that neither she, nor any other girl in the realm, would be able to. The breakdown in their relationship despite Alicent’s best efforts to keep the family together is so well done, and I love it as much as I hate to see it.
@suddenimpulse0302 жыл бұрын
I think showrunner Ryan Condal was INCREDIBLY smart to age Alicent down from the book so they would be of similar ages and could be best friends growing up. We really didn't have this dynamic at all in the books and it really adds so much to this relational deterioration over the years and it makes things so much more tragic.

Daemon couldn't "perform." Because she wasn't shocked, as he expected, she was actually excited, which meant he then had to follow through, which increased the pressure on him, rendering him impotent in the moment. Clearly, that pissed him off because he was no longer in control. So he punched the wall and ran off leaving her all "swollen" and flushed lol 😆 But, luckily for her, she had another option, someone else to achieve that pressure "release" from, later on! Just a little info about the tea: Its called moontea, and is a suprisingly gentle and easy contraceptive for the time period. However, it is more like an abortion than a day after pill, or at least if you drink it later in the pregnancy. We know Lysa Arryn had to abort her baby with littlefinger some months in, as she was tricked into drinking moontea by her father, and she suffered extremely from it, especially mentally. So yhea, the tea itself is pretty chill and not too bad, but ofc abortions and such, however mild, are usually pretty heavy both physically and psychologically, but the tea here isnt an especially horrible in itself.

In an episode with so many great scenes, I think my favourite has to be the final scene with Viserys and Otto where he is removed as Hand. It is just two phenomenal actors honing their craft by putting these two extremely flawed yet somehow still likeable characters up against one another as you understand why Viserys has turned against Otto but you also can’t help but feel bad for Otto as while he is devious and self-serving, EVERYONE in this city is, and what gets him fired wasn’t his underhanded scheming but the one time he told the unambiguous truth when he had nothing to do with the events in question and was doing his job as Hand by telling the whole truth to the King. Every second of the scene was just a masterclass of acting and I was utterly drawn to the screen; a superb job from the actors, writers and director. _(The only complaint I’d have is that it’s weird Baelon’s time as Hand has been reduced from nine years as told in Fire And Blood to five days in the show? I don’t really see the point of that but again, lore based nitpick. 😅)_
@suddenimpulse0302 жыл бұрын
One thing I like about Game of Thrones is how many ironies there can be in how things go down. A lot of the time the cause of their downfalls are not what you would expect. Notice how what really did Otto and his ambitions in here was telling the king the truth (or what he thought to be the truth). A bit of a departure from his twisty words and loaded, designed directly to benefit him dialogue we've seen in past episodes.

The reason he pulled away was because Rhaenyra actually liked it a lot and was starting to actually take control and Daemon didn't like that he wasn't in control of the situation. There are some things you should be aware of before reading Fire and Blood 1. It is a Fake History Book written from the perspective of a Maester(Historian) about the History of the Targaryen Dynasty, 2. It is deliberately written to be unreliable. The book tells us about specific known things that occurred, presents us with theories about why things occurred, and speculates about things which may have occurred. 3. The Maester writing the book is himself biased. Importantly the book is not a traditional Story. It is aimed at people interested in reading about the History of the Targaryen Dynasty and theorising about things which occur and why they occurred. For example, we cannot be certain that the Great Council of 101 came down to a choice between Rhaenys and Viserys. To me personally, it seems highly likely that it was so but we cannot be certain. The majority of the stuff we've seen in HOTD is original material designed to justify the events we know happened in Fire and Blood.

Thank you for pitying Alicent. People shit on her for no reason when she haven’t even done anything negative as of yet. Rhaenyra can do whatever she want cause as the princess she has much freedom but Alicent is just any girl in noble court who is being used as chess game and is stuck in this. You can see she doesn’t enjoy any sexual moment with king cause she can’t decide for herself and it’s just duty for her while Rhaenyra can actually take pleasure in that department. I’m glad you noticed Rhaenyra always wearing that necklace and having a soft spot for her uncle that she’s even ready to (keeping aside that she was also doing it to save herself) that she swore on her dead mother THAT Daemon didn’t touch her which eventually is a big lie cause he did touch, just he didn’t sleep with her. I guess you must one of the few people who understand that while Rhaenyra and Ser Christian Cole are cute and all but it can never work out for long term between them. He’s a knight from common background. He doesn’t stand a chance in such a big stage between these big people. While I think Daemon did do it under a plan but I think he genuinely wants her which is why he asked to marry her but I guess it can be seen as he did it just for the throne. Too bad Rhaenyra has to marry now so she can never be with either Christian or Daemon. P.S: I think you really look like Alicent except for Black hairs.

Daemon can't bring himself to kill Rhaenyra, he would have no such issue with the Hightower babe though. So in my eyes he intended to ruin Rhaenyra's reputation to have her removed as heir. I actually have a bit of respect for Daemon for not using her like that, though messed up that he even considered it but then again they are Targaryens and this is GOT, incest is nothing new, and also though messed up that he just left her in a prostitution den. But I feel like Daemon has always held favor towards Rhaenyra I mean he listens to her about the egg for her brother, he gave her gifts, and always allowed her to be willful, he was always soft with her even when he was discontent with her father his brother. He actually loves her. So the fact he realized it was wrong to use her for his gains in this political game garners a little respect I think. And to the point of Rhaenyra being in a heat and wanting for lust. She’s a young girl who at this point is 19/20 years old. It’s only natural that someone her age, wants sex. And at least she got to choose, unlike poor Alicent who never had that choice. And Ser Criston Cole isn’t such a bad choice. Not to mention the fact that her and Criston had been close for some years, those two definitely had secretly harbored feelings for each other. And I also liked that Criston looked so divided on whether or not he should betray his vow, and oath, everything he’s worked so hard for, or accept his feelings he’s long held for Rhaenyra, I like that they didn’t just instantly make him choose lust. But in the end the love he had for her won. And he gave in to her. I like that.

*My* *Favorite* *HOT* *D* *Characters* *So* *Far* 1. Daemon 🖤 (was the least cool in Ep 4) 2. Viserys (Paddy is amazing, from 4th to 2nd) 3. Corlys 🖤 (absent in Ep 4) 4. Rhaenyra 🖤 (turning bratty but still like her) 5. Alicent 💚 (surpasses her dad this week) 6. Otto 💚 (his slander is getting obvious) 7. Criston 💚 (looked so torn) 8. Rhaenys 🖤 (let's see Meleys) 9. Laenor 🖤 (future hubby to Rhaenyra) 10. Laena 🖤 (she'll eventually marry a Chad) This is where I wanted the TV writers to take me. I want to be torn between choosing Rhaenyra or Alicent. They're now right next to each other this week. Maybe I'm still Team Black but I may end up liking Alicent a little more over Rhaenyra? Alicent is a victim to her dad's schemes. Daemon was just chill in this episode. Ok, he was drunk. Seduced his niece. But how far did he really go with her? First base? But no bad*ss quotes or moments. Did rode Caraxes back to KL, had a pimp walk when approaching Viserys, and wore a cool hoodie like Anakin in Revenge of the Sith. But Daemon was the least cool/bad*ss here. Since the end of Ep 3 was so epic and bad*ss for Daemon, he's safe at the top for the rest of the series. I mean, what more could you want from him? He's shown a lot of great qualities as a likeable character after only 3 eps. He appeals to male, female, and queer viewers. Notice Ep 2 and 4 are titled after his aliases. Another ep will probably be titled Lord Flea Bottom. The character who really is winning me over is Viserys. Yes, I'm aware of all the criticisms from the decisions he made. But I find him fascinating. He's more complicated than Daemon so far. And in the book, he was written as 2D. Paddy has added more layers to him. Enhanced what's written about him. I'm aware Alicent isn't popular among book fans. Most Greens aren't. But I like the TV version of her so far. While Otto hasn't been interesting since Ep 2, it's been Alicent who keeps improving each week. She started at 9th after Ep 2. Then 6th after Ep 3. Now she's 5th after Ep 4. Can't wait when Olivia Cooke takes over by Ep 6. I'm the type of viewer who can enjoy characters from both sides. What if I really like Aemond and Alys Rivers (Elizabeth Olsen?)? I'm not so black or white with characters. I can enjoy the baddies. And being an antagonist is based on perception. Maleficent and Cruella became protagonists to their own origin stories. Look at Cobra Kai. The writers made bad guys from The Karate Kid 1, 2, & 3 likeable. I love Johnny Lawrence and Chozen! And enjoyed seeing Terry Silver being more evil and Mike Barnes' return. For all we know, Targs are really the villains. We just don't see it that way because HOT D is based on them.

All these shippers talking about "maybe he does love her" when its far more likely that once he lost control of the situation and was no longer the aggressor (it only happens once she grabs his neck) it triggered him. Daemon is an agent of chaos, but that's because he's utterly aware that he has no real power of his own (he couldn't win the war in the stepstones, all his titles come from his father, he's married to a woman he cannot stand) so as long as he "acts out" he not only gets attention, but feels like he has control. I wouldn't be surprise if it was legitimately a moment of impotence; certainly he seems far less enamored with Myseria (the White Worm) once its clear that she doesn't see herself beholden to him.

In Game of Thrones we saw incest between Cersei and Jaimes and this is very wrong and not because they are brothers because in the Targaryen family there is a lot of this and it is normal in the family for example Daemon's countries and Viserys they are brothers and they are tired and Viserys is married to his cousin who is a mother and Rhaenyra so incest is super normal but Cersei is Jaimes there yes and wrong Because they are not Targaryen if it was Targaryen then it's ok they can be together but they are not Targaryen that's why na series they hide it because they know it's wrong What are they doing that is incest they can't, but if they were Targaryen then no one is bothered by them but they are not Targaryen so they can't have any relationship it's only Targaryen that can do incest because it is the Targaryen family custom to do incest 8:49 The Daemon likes Rhaenyra the daemon wanted to show things to Rhaenyra because Rhaenyra doesn't know anything outside the kingdom the daemon's plan I believe the daemon wanted people to see them together and that they say the princess entered a brothel with her uncle so much so the daemon took off rhaenyra's hood and hat before entering the brothel but the daemon gives up and leaves what a shame because he left her alone and rhaenyra and christian's relationship was also wrong because christian he is a knight and he soiled his white tunic, remembering that Christian is older than Daemon, so age doesn't matter in this universe, just as incest doesn't matter because it's normal in the Targaryen family. I'm already used to it because I read George Martin's books and the stories he tells about the Targaryen family all contain incest. Incest is the most normal thing in this universe 16:37 I didn't like the way Alicent spoke to Rhaenyra if she wants help friend no and just like you approach a friend Alicent is jealous of her Rhaenyra because Rhaenyra slept with whoever she wanted, she doesn't have to sleep with an old man, you'll understand yet but later Alicent is jealous of Rhaenyra's life in the book shows more 11:11 See the difference in the scenes when the daemon talks to Rhaenyra, talking even though she is married, he can feel pleasure with whoever she wants in the scene with Alicent and viserys Alicent is not feeling pleasure in the scene with Rhaenyra and Daemon Rhaenyra is feeling pleasure even if it was the kiss but she likes it more after she sleeps with Christian and she feels pleasure and you can see 18:33 In the throne scene, when the daemon says that Viserys can do whatever he wants, because he is the king, he rules over him and the law, he is a Targaryen, this is true, as it is also true when Viserys tells Alicent that the daemon and Rhaenyra are dragons are restless this is also true.

A good episode it was very interesting that the writers used mushroom version of events as fact from the book for this episode. I didn't like the backstory to the dagger that arya uses in got season 8 and didn't like hearing the Prince that was promised that was a bit cringe.

I don't see the issue with the dagger part? I thought that was a cool lore tidbit. That's something that definitely came from GRRM, like the Aegon dream in episode 1.

@@suddenimpulse030 I don't think it necessary because I feel like the mystery is more important then whatever the writer could come up with.

Rhaenyra didn't lie to Allicent, she swore on her mother because it was true...she didn't have the "final act" with Daemon, so she manipulated the words to tell the truth, she was just agitated because in fact she did something, except that with Cole...the ACTRESS HERSELF confirmed this in the extra video they release after the episode, just go there and watch it !!

She said she hadn't been touched by Daemon, not that she didn't copulate, so it was in fact a lie. It would've been the truth if she said they didn't copulate, instead she said they had no intimacy at all, and I watch all the inside the episodes and making ofs.

Why are so many people posting major book spoilers in the comments. Alyska has not read the books, and many of the commenters here have not read the books. So disrespectful and ruining the enjoyment of the show and story you supposedly love so much. Be mindful of other people like an adult guys.
