Great place to live. I Would like to see a public video cam mounted say on the quayside. Showing on utube the delights of the riverside and indeed the town......Similiar to ones on the south coast like Bridport Harbour. Brings in the visitors !

I used to live at Townsend's Corner, #3 Railway Road, my Mum had a B&B there, used to get full of USAF servicemen from the surrounding USAF bases every weekend. I love your videos Valerie.

I use to work in Keymarkets on a Saturday, then when I was 16 I worked in Littlewoods and Tescos in high street. All people who worked in town could park on the Quay free . Now you have to pay.

I was in King's Lynn in the 80s ( 1980 - 1982 ) for A Levels studies. Beautiful and lovely town. Thanks for this uploading of Lynn.

I was back visiting Lynn this summer for the first time since 2019, sad to see how a once-prosperous town has gone down the tubes, now full of pound shops and coffee chains, only M&S is still there but a shadow of its former self. I remember on Saturdays in the 80s I’d go the library while mum went shopping then we would meet for lunch in St. Margaret’s church (it was the cheapest place to get a bite to eat) then take the bus home struggling with bags of shopping. By the 90s I had a car so it was much easier to just to go into town on Fridays after work and do the grocery shopping then. Once the parking charges became too much we switched to the old Tesco on the Hardwick which was free. Sadly the council were to dumb to notice how out of town retail parks were killing town centres, and decided to build that huge car park by the swimming pool and increase the rates even more to pay for it. The result is that poor old Lynn is dying on its arse and nobody in power either at borough or county level wants to do anything about it. The redevelopment of the Vancouver centre was a massive waste of money as the hoped-for big name stores never materialised…

Thank you for this video. I lived off All Saints st. back 1950 & you have 2 views of the butchers shop & pub down from All Saints Church, Was surprised to return & see that side of the street, brewery, brewery gardens, fish & chip shops on the Mill Fleet, all replaced by flats.I agree with another comment-It was the people who made it the nice place to live back then.

Ive lived here 5 years now and love Kings Lynn, I moved here from Warrington Cheshire, Kings Lynn is steeped in history, not many one horse towns still have something to actually look at.

Was born near here - Wiggenhall st Mary Magdalen to give it it's full title. Taken to Wales when I was just one year old in 1947, and here I remain to this day. However up until covid I have never missed a Year when I came 'home' to Norfolk to see family (on my mother's side) They are all gone now, mostly interred in Wiggenhall st Germans church yard.Ah well, never mind.

Before the Tech was completed in the '60s I recall taking classes in a large house on st James street....does anyone know the history of that building or where i can find information.

I remember going there for some classes. There was a small pork butchers nearby and we'd buy a small warmed pork pies for lunch. There were a couple of other satellite classrooms - one near the hospital and the other was, if memory serves me, New Conduit St.
