As an experienced fisherman up in Pulaski just a heads up you can’t use lewers in the river when the salmon are running you can only use a hook and weight and the hook has to be a certain size you cast let it drift then lift you will get a huge fine if caught by encon. Only place they allow Lewers is the estuary

@@kevmcgrandles2846 unfortunately many people here think that whatever style they fish is the only way to do it right. Personally I fish just about every way with every kind of tackle you can think of. I love swinging flies but unfortunatly it's not real popular here, mostly because most of the guys with the worst ethics use fly gear which gives fly fishing a black eye. I believe "spey" style fishing is gaining popularity here some though. I also see fishing for bites in general getting more popular lately as well, most of the guys just getting into it are more into fishing for bites, for the most part it's just the older generation that were used to snagging when it was legal that are still hanging on to the disgusting practice in my oppinion.

@mdaley013 жыл бұрын
@@johncampbell6884 I think you’re missing my point. I’m not arguing against keeping fish. I’m all for it. My issue is with the way they’re usually caught, which is to say snagged or flossed. The video shows a king slam a crank bait. I wonder if more salmon and steelhead might be inclined to take a lure or fly with similar aggression if there weren’t people constantly snagging them. I think this is certainly true of steelhead and may even be true of king salmon.
@johncampbell68843 жыл бұрын
@@mdaley01 my point is that if snagging was not allowed,a lot of fish would die without being harvested, That’s all, No point in that.

Amen! Hallelujah for a bit of decent common sense and common decency. Angling is a skill. It’s in the word. Deliberate snagging is about the same as chucking in a stick of dynamite or shooting fish in a barrel. Anglers respect the river environment. Anglers respect the fish. Anglers respect anglers. Snagging shows a lack of self-respect as in ‘I haven’t a clue how to catch a fish fair and square.’ I wouldn’t be proud of myself taking that attitude. Don’t want to offend, but this way of talking about fishing for pleasure as if it’s just snagging as many you can is pretty much offensive and brings sport anglers into disrepute. Yea, why not go pigeon shooting with a 40mm anti-aircraft gun and depth charge the salmon pool and run the 100m sprint in a Formula 1 racing car ...? Not me, sir. No way.
