Hey Josh, just put the Hexad from strapcode on my King Samurai white waffle dial, absolutely love it !!, it's not as heavy as it looks. Great combo for this watch, it really elevates the look of the watch to a higher level. Fits comfortable on the wrist as well. Whats really cool is the bracelet will shimmer a bit when the light hits it from different angles as you rotate it on your wrist. Great suggestion !!

Thank you for the review. After watching this review, I got myself the exact bracelet from strapcode and fix it on my brand new Seiko King Samurai Padi SBDY095 (SRPG21K1). I removed 2 links from each side of the bracelet and it is a perfect fit on my 7 inch wrist. I totally agree that my King Samurai now looks stunning with this bracelet. The bracelet made my watch looks ans feel expensive. Definitely so much better in terms of look and feel than Seiko stock bracelet. Awesome!

I was ABOUT to go buy one of these, when I read one of the reviews on the StrapCode webiste that complained about being able to grip and turn the bezel when one of these Hexad bracelets is on it. I dismissed it at first, but then I took a closer look, and indeed, the factory Seiko bracelet has end links that are much more curved, freeing up space to get a good finger tip purchase on the bezel, whereas the Strapcode end links snug right up to the bezel, leaving little to grip. This may not be a problem for many watches with thicker bezels, but the Samurai has a very thin bezel and is quite firm. It was just enough of a problem that I decided to keep the factory Seiko bracelet, which I don't have any problems with. It helps that this is my first decent ($50+) mechanical watch, so I'm already super impressed with its quality. Anyhoo, I thought I'd chime in.

OMG... That compliments the angular look on the watch case so well. The way the straight lines in the lugs continue into the blocky bracelet links is just perfect. I am watching another video of the Samurai with the stock bracelet and Hexad makes the original look half baked and completely out of place. I am considering getting this for my MM300. It might not blend in as well but it will still be a massive improvement over the stock bracelet. And I want something hefty to counterbalance the MM300 watch head. The MM300 is just too top heavy for a rubber or NATO. Great video!

Hi I'm considering buying this watch but how is the time accuracy, because I heard people complain about its 4r35 movement?
@joshjamesyoutube4 жыл бұрын
Hello! The accuracy is for the most part pretty good. I haven’t measured mine just yet. Seiko’s accuracy tends to be more varied than the Swiss’. Something to keep in mind, however, is that this is really a budget watch, and so you’re not going to get COSC-spec accuracy. You can have these regulated by a jeweler who knows what they’re doing and they will run quite close, but if accuracy is a big concern, you should be looking at a watch with the 6R or 8L movements.

Hello again Josh, and thanks for the suggestion to this bracelet. It does seem a lot nicer than the stock bracelet on my King Samurai. My KS will be my all purpose watch so I want it to be most comfy and light with a soft band. I’m more of a chronograph guy and I have chronos with steel, leather and silicon bands. I’m not into NATO straps and Leather is a no no on my dive watches lol!
@joshjamesyoutube3 жыл бұрын
Hello again! It’s funny you mention you’re not into nato straps - I always put my Omegas on natos during the summer but Seiko’s cases are so big and heavy and natos are so lightweight that there’s no balance on the wrist. @nickchang52933 жыл бұрын
@@joshjamesyoutube Yessir, my issue with NATO straps is also with a watch’s heft and balance on my wrist, and I don’t have a big wrist so it would feel like a hunk of metal tied to my wrist with a ribbon! I’m confused about the micro adjustment comment you made. Is t that the point of the ratchet clasp? So that you can quickly and easily adjust the length of the bracelet? If not, what is the point of the ratchet clasp?
@joshjamesyoutube4 жыл бұрын
Hello! The ratcheting extension is specifically to quickly expand the bracelet when wearing it over a wetsuit or a dive suit when in the water. You still need to properly size the bracelet by removing links, and the lack of micro-adjustment holes or half-links makes this tricky with this specific clasp. I suppose you could use the extension to size it on a daily basis but I think that would look really sloppy to have it partially open while wearing it around all the time. Hope this helps!
@stapleboss4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is the practical use of this function on this bracelet. Maybe 5 of these ever get worn over a wetsuit. I have a Unimatic with a micro adjust like this and Christopher Ward that has a similar feature but the release is on the inside. I prefer it on the outside so I can tweak it easily while wearing it, like this one has.

Hello! It has multiple stops, but aesthetically it’s really just for diving extension - it looks janky if worn semi-extended, in my personal opinion. It’s not like Tudor or Omegas internal dive extensions that can also be used as micro-adjustment.

Hi Josh. This bracelet looks awesome on the Samurai! @joshjamesyoutube3 жыл бұрын
Hello! Apologies for the delayed response; as many others here in the comments can attest, Strapcode is worth the money. Great review! Checked the site and was surprised to read a note that the hexad won’t fit the King Samurai which was confusing so I DM’d Strapcode and they confirmed the same. @joshjamesyoutube2 жыл бұрын
How odd! I do recall back when the king samurai came out that some people found the Hexad to be loose on theirs but I had no issues with it on mine (as you can see in the video, it seems to fit perfectly) and the specs seem to be identical as far as I can tell. That said, I will say that since getting it, I’ve rarely worn it on the Hexad because both it and the watch are huge and together, it’s quite bulky and heavy, and so I mostly wear it on the Crafter Blue straps I have, and again those seem to be interchangeable between the regular Samurai and the King Samurai too.

That said, for me This is specifically a sport watch, my daily beaters are two omegas and a Tudor, all of which are always on their metal bracelets. So it depends on what you want functionality-wise. The ratcheting dive strap doesn't cost you a micro-adjust, it _is_ a micro-adjust. Except easier and more convenient.
@joshjamesyoutube3 жыл бұрын
Yes and no - it’s not a microadjust that is meant to be used as a way to permanently size the bracelet (as compared to their other clasp I showed) it’s for when you need to expand it to fit over a wetsuit or something like that. The ratcheting mechanism also doesn’t actually stay fixed in place, it ratchets inward meaning that you can push it closed at any time. IMO it’s also unsightly to use that extension as a microadjust for daily wear.

If you’re open to spending the money I really like the Crafter Blue rubber dive strap on it, lightens the watch considerably. They make a nice navy one that would match your watch. I don’t, but as some other comments on my video on the watch itself would suggest, it seems that there are some QC issues with early models. That said, mine was made in Japan (some aren’t) and I’ve never had any issues with Seikos that were made in Japan.

Does this bracelet scratch the casing since it looks so flush next to the casing
@joshjamesyoutube3 жыл бұрын
Not that I’ve noticed, and even if it did it would scratch the parts that you don’t really see. You’d be more likely to accidentally scratch the case while removing/installing it.

Has anyone bought a namoki mod bracelet for their samurai? They look identical to the strapcode version but are a bit cheaper. Looking for a review before buying

I actually hadn’t heard of that before you mentioned it. I don’t have any experience with it but I will say that I personally would spend the extra for the Strapcode version. Would love to know if you find a review! Super interesting stuff, thanks for sharing!!

How many micro-adjust settings can you use on the ratcheting?
@joshjamesyoutube3 жыл бұрын
I believe you have four, but they’re meant for temporary adjustment when diving, not for permanent sizing. It’s not like omega’s micro adjust that slides from within the clamshell.
@ATIWatchReviews3 жыл бұрын
@@joshjamesyoutube interesting that does affect usefulness if it's not meant for permanent setting. So are you saying it is not completely stable if its in one of the micro adjust settings? It will too easily come out the setting?
@joshjamesyoutube3 жыл бұрын
It’s not that it’s not stable but check out 04:11, that’s how it’ll look when the ratchet is open to any degree, and to me that would look really strange to wear around all the time. Also, this goes back to the comment I make in the video where if you typically have trouble with link bracelets, I wouldn’t go with this clasp. The other thing with this watch is that for me this watch as a whole is more of a tossaround or a novelty, so I don’t wear it much, but if this is going to be any kind of daily beater, I’d definitely go with the more traditional clasp with true micro adjustments.
@ATIWatchReviews3 жыл бұрын
@@joshjamesyoutube yes it looks a bit funny with it ratcheted out significantly. Swc diver mk2 has micro adjust holes on the clasp as well as this rachet. I think rolex glide lock or omegas ratchet is probably better.

Hi Josh, do you think the actual lock mechanism is too long
@joshjamesyoutube3 жыл бұрын
Hello! On this one it’s definitely big, and thick as well, I’d definitely go with the standard clasp if you’re concerned about it. I have to say I’ve hardly worn mine on this bracelet (partly because this is just a sport watch for me), the rubber strap is so much more comfortable.

Grand Seiko, if you watch this.. why don't you guys make a 1:1 GS version of this model.. (no date version! white birch dial with the lume, instead).. GS movement of course, "steal" the hexad strapcode idea and add a lil imagination to mimick R Sub glidelock or Omega SMP 300m quick adjust clasp and there you go.. sell them at $6000 - $7000 and it will sell a lot.. because this model has a distinct, original Seiko look. For the nickname, just let us do the job for U GS.. Grand Samurai or whatever 👌🙂

I have this awesome looking watch. Very impressed with the ceramic bezel. Beside my submariner, just from the look, l couldn't tell which is better quality. I always wear big sports watches with a 22/18 straps for comfort. Feel much better. If it's 20 lug width, then 20/16. I wear this watch with a hirsh rubber strap. Looks luxurious. I also wear it with a tougher Rios shell cordovan strap for ruggedness.

@@joshjamesyoutube don’t you find this bracelet too big? I have a 7.1 wrist and found original bracelet heavy and big and this one even tough very nice, it seems very bulky. Same with clasp. I love it but it seems so “tall” and long. How does it wear? Thanks
@joshjamesyoutube3 жыл бұрын
It definitely is large, but a few things I should clarify - first, this isn’t a watch that I wear regularly, I bought it more to have as a fun novelty, so I can’t comment too much on it for day in and day out use. The bracelet is nice, though, and for short periods I can wear it comfortably (if I’m wearing it for longer periods I use a crafter blue rubber strap). The Samurai itself is huge and unweildy, though, and the watch as a whole isn’t ideal as an all day, everyday watch for me. My daily beaters are Omegas, I have a 39.5mm Planet Ocean and a 41mm 300 Pro, and those are definitely more comfortable and far more wearable for my wrist size.

It really is deservent, of such a bracelet. Long Island watch, has a variation, that comes complete w/ the Strapcode, "hex-head bracelet." The ISL-65, is the one in particular, that I've been interested in. It's $329, but that's without the divers clasp. That would be another $60. By the time it's all said and done though, for another $100-$150, one could have the real "King Samaria," w/ the waffle dial. Sorry, this is all just dawning on me.....SMH. Great video though
