Ross, I really appreciate that you make a point of refuting people who say you're attempting to "paint a negative picture" of guys like Von. Yes, some rappers get tarred with a brush that they absolutely shouldn't be. I love Hip Hop in all it's forms and I HATE when rappers get profiled or targeted as a bad person simply because of the artform with which they choose to express themselves. HOWEVER, when it comes to guys like Von, Durk, 69, I'll even throw some guys like Ace, Foolio and Big Key in there, you can't rap about super specific criminal activities, be as disrespectful and demonic as possible, and then turn around and say people have the wrong idea about you. It's like "Nigga, YOU'RE THE ONE WHO TOLD US ALL THIS SHIT!!! You can't portray an image and then get mad when people believe you. My advice to these young rappers, whether you're involved in street shit or not it ain't for me to judge, but DON'T RAP ABOUT SPECIFIC CRIMES AND DETAILS OF SAID CRIME. GENERALIZE!!!

I think it's just that this song shows a less then wholesome image of von. His estate/friends are trying to act like von was a saint. And at the same time they're releasing videos for songs like "demon". They like to negatively portrait anyone that talks about the things von did, as if they're just sterotyping him. But the truth is, we only know so much about Von's dark past BECAUSE of Von. He tells on himself more than a few times. So it was more that releasing the MV for this specific song, doesn't do Von any favors. And paints him in a less than good light. And that doing so just seems like greed. Honestly I've grown disillusioned with a lotof people around Von. Especially all the clout chasing stunts after his death, and the lack of any real action. No one's legit riden for Von. They're all too busy turning his death into a clown circus. So its not all that surprising to me they'd release MV to songs that don't help Von's image.

@40k343 жыл бұрын
@@NeiasaurusCreations I wouldn't doubt it but that wasn't why he was killed. It was a petty murder because bro always had this lil tendency where he would stare at people. I know people like that, and they usually don't mean offense but Von n dude probably thought he was on opp shit. It was undeserved and unjustified. A lot of people still hurting to this day.
@NeiasaurusCreations3 жыл бұрын
@@40k34 Well aren't all murders undeserved and unjustified really? Taking the life of another human in pretty much most contexts outside of war, or immediate self-defense is unjustified. Von saw a lot of people he cared about killed, and had the mentality of shoot first, ask later. It probably is the only reason he survived the war he was in. Does it make it right? No. But I can't say if a dude is a GD, an opp of Von, that it was random. Von really wasn't playing with his opps. And his opps weren't playing with him, either. One wrong move could've been his own end, and he knew it. I feel it's easy for us to judge him when we're not in his situation, but it'd be a lot harder for us to make different choices if we had lived his life and the situation he was in. So while murder, in general, isn't really a good thing, I can't help but feel bad for all people who lost their way in that shit.

@AshiwiZuni3 жыл бұрын
Since when is it a new idea lol? Industry heads have been putting put posthumous records forever and people have always complained about it. Now just more than ever. Also, i completely agree with the take of artists being deified after they die, as if they were good people. Its a surface level examination of the artist the fan thinks they care about. However, if you understand the socioeconomic, political, and sometimes even religious contexts that these people were raised and living in, saying someone is “no angel” becomes extremely subjective. People who live in these circumstances are mostly victims of a centuries long war against their humanity. A war that continues as we type. To think these rappers are inherently bad people is equivalent to thinking that my ancestors, native americans, like squanto, are also bad people because they did bad things. No. They did what they were shown to survive and prosper in a society almost completely rigged against them. Sorry for the long thing but honestly this is just a way too nuanced issue, and I feel TLR and so much of hip hops fan base misunderstands this basic reality.

Murder trials, especially in major cities take a dramatically long time to process. Prosecutors usually try to wait until the defendant cracks and pleas out and do so by asking for extensions for many trial processes like getting discovery, grand jury, jury selection, trial prep, etc. 50s case is not special or targeted based on who he is.

It's been 10 years. That's not normal. Also there's a constitutional right to a speedy trial which is clearly being violated.
@toofgap59882 жыл бұрын
@@annamaria9073 It is not particularly rare and, unfortunately, precedent does not support this being a 6th violation.

@toofgap59882 жыл бұрын
@@bloodaonadeline8346 over a decade is an outlier to be certain, but the extent of it being an outlier is not as dramatic as people would expect. It's not a good thing, but that doesn't make it rare.

If an artist dies and there is a music video just chilling in the vault that is done or close to being done, you almost have to release it. It's a no brainer! Fans wanna see it. No matter the subject matter, it's art that needs to be displayed. Of course the "team" is gonna release it. It's part of the legacy that he left behind.

How in the hell do you NOT get sentenced for a crime that happened 10 years before? How is it okay to hold people for a decade before even giving them their due process? This is crazy. Are you saying he didn’t go to trial yet? Or just that he hasn’t been sentenced yet? I mean, YNW Melly has been waiting 3 years for his trial (almost upon us), and the guys who killed X are still awaiting trial almost 4 years after the fact…but a DECADE?! That’s just insane. Let a dude out on bond if you’re going to wait a decade to try him in court.
