If generational gap between games didn't matter then you could say KCD is better than the first Baldur's Gate, which is a senseless comparison. It will be insane. This studio has a point to prove and for the last couple of years Bethesda has been so lazy. And that is coming from a huge Beshesda fan, eg. Skyrim and Fallout 4. But seeing a quest system that choices actually matter... The Witcher 3 made me realise what impact that has on being a real RPG and replayability. And the realism... It finaly feels there is a game for grown-ups

+Braam Kotze The mention of two games proves Bethesda have been lazy when in all likelihood you're probably not even familiar with their earlier titles. I think Bethesda learned some valuable lessons in their latest two games about ambition. TW3 is an entirely different beast to this game, while it focuses on consequence in it's specific narrative for choices as Troy explained in the video this game does also have a focus on moment to moment gameplay. While neither TW3 nor will this game probably let have much choice over your affiliation, place in the world or general alignment. Three different approaches to the RPG all with different pieces of the puzzle and not one of them complete. This game reminds me most of Gothic 2 and if you've played it Two worlds. It'll be hard for Bethesda to make a 'better' game in the future and I'm sure whatever they'll bring out can't please everyone. I'm hoping for a nice balance between the daggerfall life sim, the scale of Skyrim, the technology of FO4 and the stories and questing of Morrowind and Oblivion not to mention the freedom of Fallout 3 in many areas.

Believe it or not every elder scrolls game since Morrowind has been worse in terms of RPG elements and world. Skyrim is the closest game it can be compared to fairly since no other game like it has come out. KCD is the first real competitor. The Whitcher 3 comes close as well, but i feel KCD is more like Skyrim because you can loot a lot in it like in Skyrim.

I'm hyped for kingdom, and I really hope it's good, but people like you comparing it to skyrim in this light are gonna damage it. skyrim was an awesome title, and it had a lot of fantasy elements that kingdom won't have, so even if they're similar, they won't attract the same type of niche players each are aiming for. stop comparing it to skyrim, we there it's better or worse. let's wait for it to come out and give it a fair chance as a separate game, and hope we all like it as much we liked skyrim.

Facial animation is definitely not 'impeccable', horizon zero dawn, witcher 3 have way better facial animation. And why are you comparing a 2011 game with a 2018 game in terms of graphics, of course its gonna look better. I can already see popups and poor draw distance from your video, this is definitely not the best looking game right now. You also didn't mention how the combat is pretty bland and clunky, I know they are going for realistic but still its look bland. The logic of this whole video is just dumb. They aren't even similar games. They both have swords, and typical armour designs. Thats it. The gameplay mechanics are completely different, the settings are completely different, one is fantasy, the other is focused on a more realistic setting. One is way older then the other, not to mention you are saying this game will be better when it hasn't even made its full release. You are just jumping to conclusions, blinded by the hype train like so many other people. Im not saying this game is going to be bad. I totally agree with you on the aspect of blank player protagonists. For all the years I've played them, I never really felt engaged AS them. I feel games where your protagonist has a predisposed background is much more interesting and ties you to the story right from the beginning. Henry's story especially is such a unique one too, not being the "chosen hero" or whatever, and the game definitely reflects that. The immersion Kingdom Come sets up is legendary, and I hope future Open World RPG games take note - NO MORE BLANK PROTAGONISTS. THEY'RE BORING.

Lets just be careful not to over hype here guys. Remember Skyrim came out 6 years ago. for its time it was as revolutionary THEN as the Witcher 3 is today. Although this game has what seems a lot of depth to it and yes its visually stunnning, once your eyes have adjusted to the graphics and god rays, what will define the game will be the story, characters, their interactions with one another and the environment, the long term impact of your decisions and their continuity within the game world (not just killing a character and him staying dead, but more like saving an insignificant person and some 50 hours later they remember and help you out - yes, the Witcher 3 did this!) as well as the locations... somethings telling me there aren't going to be many caves or dungeons, so there needs to be a strong driving incentive to make you want to run through fields on horseback for 100+ hours...it has to IMMERSE you, you need a REASON to do this.. After all, it isn't the graphics, god rays and foliage that makes the Witcher 3's world so immersive is it? Its the variety, scope, depth and lore to the world with new things to discover that are significant to the player round every corner etc. The graphics are merely a compliment to the immersion. But its discovery that really catches you in the Witcher. So as pretty as the game is, once the main quests are done, how many secondary quests are there to keep you coming back for more? And the quality of those quests? Are you going to really care for the protagonist and other characters? Also, the voice acting and way of telling the story, is it going to be at the same quality as the Witcher 3? just because Skyrim doesn't have it at all, at least it hasn't tried to be a narrative based RPG and done it to a lackluster standard. Skyrim's a sandbox, with no emphasis on story. Its who you choose to be in your imagination. There are only really very shallow impacts of those choices in the world around you. They only really affect your character. There's a big detachment between your character and the world in Skyrim. And that's ok as long as you're not expecting it to be a deep lore rich narrative adventure to begin with. Like Troy, i prefer Witcher 3 by far because I shaped a character that I cared about and decided what I believed should be the choices HE would make so that it felt right. Like watching a movie and seeing your hero do what you were really hoping he would do. (Man it's satisfying!) As a result it sucked me in far more than Skyrim ever did. Kingdom Come appears to be trying the same thing. It's not trying to be a sandbox like Skyrim, but rather, much more like the Witcher - a narrative driven RPG experience. So it would be more fair to compare it with the Witcher, which today is the ultimate benchmark of both story telling and open world RPG gameplay, than Skyrim - a 6 year old sandbox game that was made with a completely different goal in mind. All i'm saying is not to do a no mans sky on this bad boy. I'm personally gonna take it as a separate experience. Then i wont be disappointed too badly if its just mediocre, and will be overwhelmed if awesome and indeed "better than Skyrim"... but to say Skyrim is overrated is like saying MGS 1 is when people go on about how incredible a game it is ... FOR ITS TIME there was nothing like it. it was incredible and truly a benchmark that most games in some way at least aspire to. So yeah... hypers - i hope your right... haters - go fuck yourselves, and cautious optimists? enjoy =)

Hey all good points man, I really liked your ending. I do think we will be able to bond with our character like we did with Geralt. If the writing is as good as I've seen in gameplay videos, some of the Beta and the trailers, it has a chance of being as story driven and immersive as the Witcher 3. Yes the Witcher would have probably been a better game to compare because it is more recent, but I thought more people would watch this if I was talking about Skyrim, because of the rampant nostalgia blindness. Yes Skyrim was awesome for it's time, but people still hold it as number one even over the Witcher 3, not me, not you not most logical people. Uh, one HUGE feature that Skyrim has the Kingdom Come does not is *character creation.* Seriously KCD looks amazing and I'm buying it regardless, but forcing a singular perspective on an otherwise very open world doesn't make sense to me. Skyrim allowed you to make any hero or villain you want and live as they please, this game seems to let you choose your own path but when you're forced to play as this Henry kid it definitely takes away from the immersion in my opinion

After seeing your entire video you had an interesting outlook on character creation that I hadn't considered. You're right that in Skyrim you feel like you're playing as some awkward mute. I always preferred to make my own character, but it was interesting when you said that the pre-set protagonist at least HAS a backstory and seems more authentic, whereas in skyrim your character is literally a nobody who is coincidentally one of the most powerful warriors ever

it would make sense if you consider this: a set character allows for much better focus on character development (in the story telling sense), better voice acting and better animations. this is the anti mass effect andromeda. no appeal to wide masses, good facial animations, no SJW shit, white male centric and good story will no grind. have you seen the finial version yet? there is gameplay of it on youtube by a German guy named Gronkh. I'll tell you I noticed the basket and fire pop in slightly as the door opened 4:43. Not being critical more as an indication of good optimization, LOD management and occlusion culling. Areas with heavy foliage look photo-realistic on video alone. Some areas of ground not quite as much but still very good looking. You'll practically be able to smell the world you'll be playing in.

KCD (2018) was released only this year and based on the gaming engine (GE), Cryengine 3. Skyrim was released in 2011 using Creation Engine (Bethesda Studios). So, it was an in-house GE developed primarily for that game. I assume because they wanted to create something unique and other GEs at the time were not up to their (Bethesda) expecations. (I am guessing and could be wrong, but given the time lines, it is a reasonable assumption.) That is like comparing the original Star Wars (1977) movie with Avatar (2009) and saying Avatar is superior just because it looks better. Of course it looks better. The games were made at different times with different technologies. Vast improvements have been made over the ensuing years. Skyrim was pretty cutting edge at the time it was released. The graphics in Oz, The Great and Powerful (2013, James Franco) were stunning and the story was fairly decent but it cannot compare with the magic and mystery The Wizard of Oz (1939, Judy Garland) generated. One has to consider the time period and technical developments available at the time it was made. I get your point but still think you are comparing apples to oranges. I doubt Bethesda will ever do it (but there are rumors about TES 6), but it would be nice to see Skyrim remastered using recent GE advancements and utilizing some more sophisticated AIs. I understand a group of gaming enthusiasts are doing that with an all volunteer project called Beyond Skyrim with the lofty goal of bring the entire continent of Tamriel to life with remakes of TES Oblivion (Skyblivion) and TES Morrowind (Skywind). A DLC called Beyond Skyrim: Bruma has recently been released by the same team. My only disappointment is that they used Creation Engine to make it. Given that it is a Skyrim mod and blends seamlessly with the main game, I can understand why they made it that way. I read that KCD was funded by a Czech billionaire for $5 million. Don't know how much Bethesda threw into Skyrim but it would be interesting to know. My suspicion is, it was far less. My secret dream is that Bethesda do a complete remake of the entire series some day with the entire planet of Nirn recreated (with something like Unreal Engine or Cryengine) to explore. That would be cool.

Looking forward to this but you made a HUGE error in saying that Oblivion's terrain was computer-generated. It wasn't. No Elder Scolls game since Daggerfall (which still holds the record 20 years later for the largest game world ever created) has been. The programs used to place objects and design terrain used by the developers has been made available to players and modders for every Elder Scrolls title since Morrowind and every game from that point on has always been hand-designed.

the reason for KCD world feeling as living breathing world is it in fact was and still is a real area, 16km2 of my country, around Sasau (Sazava). i just today spoke to my coworker who lives now in city of Sasau 500m away from the monastery, he likes it alot! locations of vilages are ingame as they were back then in real life. archeology and old books, chronicles you get the idea. i also saw a video of fellow czech who made flyovers with a drone with splitscreen from ingame, they match beautifuly :) EDIT: my country has the most beautiful nature on our planet, i am biased ofc :D i am amazed i recognize the plants in grass that i used to pick as a little boy, i do recognize the trees as they make up our forests still, it is very very nice all in all.

I don’t think the next Elder Scrolls game will have a voiced protagonist. So many people hated it in Fallout 4 that even Todd Howard admitted that Bethesda failed in that area. But I do like the fact that there’s a voiced protagonist for games like Mass Effect and The Witcher. I just think it’s something that has to correspond well with the game. Now I get what Warhorse Studios was trying to do by creating a voiced protagonist with a backstory, but I still question whether or not it was the right decision. Regardless, I’ve been looking forward to playing this game for a while and can’t wait to finally do so.

I think what makes Fallout have such a bad voiced protagonist is that YOU are the character. You make them look a certain way so they become yours. In KCD its different, As you're playing the story of Henry. My fallout always annoyed me since there was no Bad or Good lines. KCD has me covered there. So in all, I quite like the voiced character of Henry, Since its KCD- Henry's story Vs Fallout- Your story.

In the video the guy goes on about how role playing is better when you play as a pre-made character with a back story, and It's just not the case. Your not role playing if your history has already been set.

Not entirely true, while i agree with you that when you make your own character role playing is that much better, pre-made characters can be almost as good. And saying it's not role playing if the character is pre-made is completely untrue, you're still playing the role of that character, role playing. Play The Witcher if you haven't already, i find myself just as immersed as if i were playing my own character in Skyrim.

I've played all 3 of the Witchers, and I really enjoyed them. But the actions I take don't feel like my own, they are Geralt's. You are never really shaping his fate in the same way you are as let's say " the Courier" in New Vegas. I still thought The Witcher 3 was a masterpiece but I still prefer my playable characters to be a new character with each play. Which is why I put so many hours into Skyrim with mods like "Live Another Life".

I'm talking about using the development team of warhorse to craft ES6. Trying to play through Skyrim for the countless time, I get bored. The reason I said what I said is that they need a living world in ES6. Could you imagine Skyrim with a world where it is impossible to do everything in a single play-though? Where you miss stuff because you are doing something else? I love Bethesda, but their games need this type of rpg style. If they can't accomplish the style of KCD, then their new ES6 will never be as good as this game will be. KCD is simple and complex all at the same time. It seems to find the perfect balance between the two. And it will allow so many different characters to be developed just by playing. Bethesda really needs to step their game up. No pun intended.

That's what they did with Mafia games, or at least the brand and how that ended. (The CEO of Warhorse made the first Mafia, which is the best in the trylogy imo, he wrote more than half of the story of Mafia 2 and that game was still very good, but than the brand got raped, none of the original people worked on it an that's why I didn't even notice the third one)

Two problems. Firstly I really don't like having to play a set character. I can't play Witcher because I detest Geralt. Every time I see him I want him to stick his own sword through his eyes. Having to play a character I hate ruins the game. Also it often means the game is on rails. You have to say these words because... Well.. Those are the lines they got the voice actor to say. Not a fan of forced characters at all. Second issue is ranged characters. I never (ever) play melee characters in any game any more. I play a ranged character with a bow or a ranged Mage character. But never melee. I don't enjoy that play style. I didn't see any ranged options in this video and I know there is no magic. I feel this game will not be for me. Looks great though great graphics.

I haven't played this (don't have the means to play it anyway) but from what I gathered, Kingdom Come focuses more on immersion and obviously its storyline while Elder Scroll games on the other hand is about exploration and adventure with a solid fantasy lore as its backdrop. As for your first argument, while I do agree that the environment design of Skyrim paled in comparison with KC, that is only because obviously, Skyrim was made way earlier than KC.

I agree with you mostly but you make it sound like it's a good thing that this game runs on Cry Engine but the thing is that Cry Engine focuses 100% on visuals and almost nothing else. If this game were running UE4 I think I could've looked just as great or even better but it would've runned smoother for a lot of people. Don't get me wrong, this game looks gorgeous and runs ok for me with a little bit of tweaking but I've got a pretty beefy rig myself. Cry Engine is one of the worst engines imo, you said it yourself 2x GTX 1070 and still only 60fps. I would expect my games to run at least a stable 100fps with that setup (preferably 144fps+). Then again you might not have 144hz monitors like me.

I use a 4k tv and record videos at 4k 60 fps so their is no reason for me to try to run higher than 60! Although I like U E 4, it tends to suck just as bad for performance on an open world game like this. Think Arkham Knight. Ue4 needs a lotta work, like multi GPU support, but so does crytek. But at least with crytek someone like me can easily force multi GPU support. In unreal 4 games it's next to impossible 80% of the time.

Skyrim is a fantasy game with dungeons & dragons and the like, set in a fictional world. This game is set in medieval times. I agree though that there are not many games to compare it too though. But I would imagine mount and blade would be a better comparison. Since that is also a medieval game with no fantasy elements to it.

I would hope the graphics would be better, it's made in 2018. But graphics alone don't make a better game. Fallout 4 graphics were better than 3, which in turn was graphically better than 1 and 2. But fallout 1 was a better game than the others. I will likely enjoy kingdom come, but I like fantasy games, with magic and stuff.

On paper this has the potential to be the most realistic (and fun 2 play) RPG of all time. Considering my top 3 best rpg's are ESO Morrowind - DDDA - Witcher 3 (4th and fifth would be oblivion and skyrim I suppose). Story and historical background are the core of the game. So it really makes sense. Still holds true for the vast majority. One usually has many unobvious (you have to figure them out yourself) ways of achieving things. I just hope this games does not get overhyped and people get mad because its not what they expected. It combines a lot of game-mechanics in a new way, and will therefore be a new experience to many players. (I guess) (Seen at No Mans Sky where the studio handled it very bad as the things i mentioned came true)

I still pick Skyrim. This game has to much drama. Dialogues are way too long. Feels like someone wanted to give it a reality show feel. Overall I found this game slower and more boring. Yeah the graphics are better which should be expected when comparing a game made in 2011 vs 2018. I also still feel like Skyrim has way more content. Exploration in Skyrim is also way better. You can go off the beaten path and just when you think their is nothing there, you might find a mine, a troll, a bear, an opening in the woods with a women swimming in a pond etc..... Play with a controller on PC. Xbox One and 360 controllers work flawlessly and fully supported by Microsoft. PS4 controllers work as well, though not as perfect as MS. I have all three (I own a PS4), and the Xbox One controller is by far the best.

Thanks for the responses guys, I have a MSI Laptop with GeForce GTX 970M, 16GB RAM, an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5700HQ @ 2.70GHz and my resolution is 3840 x 2160, I don't need max settings but I should be able to run the game pretty well right? I'm not an expert on this stuff :/

well you're comparing a 2011 game to a 2018 game, which is a big difference in all the things devs can do these days. the game itself still will not be as good as a skyrim modded, just too much variety man.

Literally just pre-ordered this game 20 minutes ago to reserve me a copy because the assistant at Gamestop said they only had four copies and that was two per console (ps4&xbox1) Well that and because it looks refreshing like Skyrim did back when it first dropped with all the beautiful woods and landscape this game gives me hope in single player driven experiences..

I get a solid 20-35 fps 4k maxed out with 1080 Ti lol, motion blur off cause that stuff just makes games look like a horrbile blur

I'm not playing ultra, but I'm getting 4K 60 with two 1070's at medium. Playing KCD ultra 4K is like trying to run Crysis Ultra 4k, it's tough. Same engine.

What fix are you using to get sli working, I tried some of the other vids recomendations and although frames where at times decently higher drop where still as bad, and it introduced stuttering, It doesn't work well with my gsync screen, so I went back to single card

see man this game maybe awesome and epic but looks boring and serious. when i come back from work i dont want to look at a "too real" game i just want to have fun and this game does not look like a place where i be having fun. if i were 16 years old with no homework and hardcore than maybe this will be my game to go. another thing is, dont be saying this game is better than x game. the best game out there is the one where u are having fun and that game could be tetris or mario etc.if you are going to call everybody that disagree "fanboy" just disabble the comments if you dont like different opinions.

what happens if you get get s sword and kill everyone in your village? do they respawn? will you still be able to become a hero by completing quests? or did they implement the skyrim prison and bounty system?

Just picked up this game and yes it’s way better than skyrim and I love skyrim!! But the fact that in kcd you have to really WORK for your skills captivated me so much it’s so refreshing to play a new IP that’s this damn good
