I really dislike this portrayal of the movie. The whole burned village with the dead soldiers and Mulan finding the doll implying kids were killed is non-existent thereby removing any emotion and the true horrors of war when they find a village that is destroyed. Shang's dad isn't mentioned or seen so I guess he doesn't exist or he doesn't get killed. Mushu being the one who accidently reveals Mulan is a girl instead of Shan Yu wounding her is stupid. The mountain and avalanche scene is rubbish. Where's Cri-Kee? Where's Mulan's horse Khan? Where the hell is Shan Yu's actual human Hun army with their horses? Couldn't they have mixed them in with the Heartless? The Heartless they gave Shan Yu are not intimidating in the slightest and do NOT fit with Shan Yu's dark and menacing tone. Shang just dropping out of thin air to save the emperor was very Deus Ex Machina. Shan Yu doesn't die in a kick-ass explosion and they don't even give closure to if he actually died or if he's just injured, collapsed and was imprisoned. His falcon also vanishes after his fight and is never mentioned or seen again. Shan Yu has no personality, only two lines, is boring compared to the film and he's just.....there. No explanation to how he got the Heartless or why he's invading China compared to the film. How the hell do you make one of the most badass Disney villains boring? Some say Shan Yu was boring in the film, well they haven't seen him here. The only thing I like is that they had the decency to not include Chi Fu. Cuz nobody likes him and he was an annoying, sexist and ungrateful asshole.

I'm with you! Out of all of the Disney worlds I've encountered throughout the game thus far, this world's story was definitely done the least justice by the Kingdom Hearts-ification compact style. Mulan isn't something you can simply bite-size into okay storytelling. I ended up finding a fanfic that retold the story somewhat better, in my opinion, because I was so dissatisfied about how they butchered this movie + how it seemed to not be all that plot heavy (in terms of how most Disney worlds in this series seem to serve a purpose of paralleling something or some situation in the overall KH plot). Anyway, rant over. Hope you're well!
