KristinaN05 it’s from 358 days. Axel roxas and xion were best friends. Soras memories were consuming xion so she fought roxas and lost is she went back into sora. Roxas rebelled against the organization, lost his memories, and got put in a simulation. While roxas the person is still there, his personality and the time he spent being axels friend is gone. And then he also went back into sora. Axel lost both his friends to sora ( unintentionally )

The flashback scenes to the other Kingdom Hearts games brings me back to my childhood. So many memories I had playing Kingdom Hearts as a child. And it feels so nostalgic too me. I remember as a child watching my dad play KH 1 and 2 back on the PS2 days. And I was all like why is there Disney mixed in with this? It wasn't until years later that my dad kept insisting at Pawn shop that I started playing the KH games. I have so many fond memories of this series that I don't ever want to forget. One of the best JRPG game series ever.

So, in some ways, we (the player) reincarnated as the original main Xehanort we fight in the other games. One of my favorite parts of this opening is at 2:58 when Sora opens a path of light and the others appear one by one. Every single one of them have accepted their stay in the darkness, their backs turned to the light before it slowly opens to them, showing the way out, showing surprise of seeing the light. All, except Ventus, who has accompanied Sora for so long and knows the strength of his heart. And Riku, who knows his best friend better than anyone and knew he would not give up and leave them there. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I like the idea that although Riku was stuck in darkness, he never gave up hope that Sora would find his way to him and pull him back to the light. Which he did in the second installment, and it's shown symbolically in this opening, hence why we get KH2 Riku.

Sora stands in a darkened version of the Final World. He says his opening words as if his trying to move past all that he has lost and grab hope. His words also convey that one day he will return. The Sora we see at the start is the Sora that disappeared in the ending of KH3.

This intro says a lot about the story so far, going through time as it shows all the main characters having their lives getting twisted and ruined by Organization XIII and Xehanort, all while depicting a simple game of chess, showing that Xehanort and the rest of the organization see their whole plan as just an easy game, and the main characters as simple chess pieces needing to be played.

Sora's story has got to be one of the saddest but most inspiring. Just some kid whose world was turned to shit and he was thrust into the adventure he thought he wanted, but i was so full of pain and loss, yet he still keeps going because its important to him to save everyone he can. He stepped up to be the hero but it cost him everything.

Okay I have a newfound appreciation for the Kingdom Hearts series. I always liked the series since I was a kid, but now, having watched all the Kingdom Hearts openings for all the games, I am realizing how deep and emotional this series is. As a kid you don't understand it as much. At 28, I understand. Who would've thought this series would be as deep as it is. In all the openings, it shows Sora constantly running after the ones he loves, Riku and Kairi. Riku being led down a destructive path, Sora trying to save him, and Kairi trying to save Sora in turn; all the while facing enemies and adversaries along the way, symbolic of life's struggles and challenges along the way. Sora's constant chase after the ones he loves, the pain he goes through when he can't reach them, but the struggles and battles along the way making him stronger. Sometimes life feels like a never ending battle, but this game teaches us that nothing else matters except for the ones we love. Having the ones we love in this life is what is important; it motivates us to keep trying, there's hope because they make our lives better. It's easy to lose ones we care about to distractions, being led down the wrong path, life being a vapor, making mistakes and having consequences, or people coming and going constantly in our lives that we care about. Sometimes we feel trapped, symbolic of Namine trapping Sora with her magic after feeling so close to victory yet feeling like its to no avail, like we are sinking into despair, symbolic of Sora going deeper into the depths of the ocean; I feel, symbolic of depression, feeling like we are drowning. At the end of the game, it shows Sora coming back up to the surface, to happiness and peace back with his friends. I had no idea how deep these games were, but I understand now. Even the ocean wave that overcomes Sora in the first game and he is clawing, fighting to get back to Riku who has his hand extended out to him but to no avail; also symbolizing him not being able to reach him because Sora could not go down the dark path that Riku was going down, but showing Sora's motivation to reach him regardless. So much pain in the struggle, and yet, his new friends along the way gives him hope that he will see them again if he keeps trying. This game shows us to not give up no matter what and to keep fighting for the ones we love while they are here. What a beautiful game and the openings have always been epic. Some of the most deepest video game openings, and the games are emotional and deep themselves. I may have to play through these games again as an adult, like Utada Hikaru says, this life can be bittersweet. This game also explores the light and darkness in everyone. People's need to cling onto the light because it gives us hope, but the temptations that darkness also brings. Riku was tempted, he desired to have Kairi and was willing to do anything to bring her back. Intentions good but the desire so great that he succumbed to the darkness. Its not until you are in too deep in the darkness that you realize the consequences of doing so. What humans are willing to do to achieve our desires can bring us to darkness, but as this game shows us, the light will always overcome the darkness and there is hope. :)

Seeing this for the first time made me cry so hard. I feel truly honored to have grown up with this beautifully complex game series.
