I'm pretty sure it was stated in back cover that the master of masters made the faux keyblades, which are all the keyblades we know of today, in the image of the X blade by extracting them out of the hearts of the individual. He did this to himself first, which is why his keyblade is the most ancient. He then did it to the fortellers. In fact, the characters of unchained chi all got their keyblades from this process.
