Stitch! The Movie was really more of a pilot for the TV show than anything else, though. It's less than an hour long and it sets up the TV show's premise (finding the other experiments their true places) and villain (the evil Dr. Hamsterviel).
@DisneyLover2585 жыл бұрын
@@sparksbet You are 90% correct. It's 1 hour and 4 minutes (according to a Google page I currently have up). So, with commercials, Disney Channel could have easily made it an hour and a half pilot like with the Tangled show pilot. But yes, Sparky was just the first of a long line of experiments to emerge, wreak havoc upon Lilo's small town, become good and help the town in the show's three run.

I'm astonished at Kevin Michael Richardson's range. He voices a LOT of different characters on Samrai Jack, for one, and that's the best show to hear his range. Birth by Sleep came out not long after the conclusion of Lilo & Stitch: The Series, in which Stiers voiced Jumba, so it'd make sense he'd return for this one. Speaking of Jumba, I guess I have some Disney trivia of my own: Jumba did not actually create 625 Experiments before Stitch. Rather, he has a three-digit numbering scheme. The hundreds digit indicates the Experiment's category, and the ones and tens digit denote the chronological order of creation within that category. Jumba starts with 00 and moves up by 1 for each Experiment in that category, which is why the tens digit rarely goes above 4. Recalling from memory (correct me if I'm mistaken), the categories are as such, by their hundreds digit: 1 = Experiments created early on. Most of these guys aren't that powerful or useful; Jumba was still learning how to make them. 2 = Experiments with elemental powers, such as fire, ice, wind, and, in the case of 221 (Sparky), electricity. 3 = Experiments with general utilitarian purposes. 4 = Miscellaneous Experiments that don't fall into any of the other categories. 5 = Failed Experiments. These either were unable to do their designated tasks correctly, refuse to do them, or were thought by Jumba to be good ideas at the time. 6 = Experiments with immense power. Both Jumba and the Galactic Police (I think that's what they're called in this) deem them all WMDs. In addition to Stitch, the 600s group also includes Leroy, Angel, and Reuben. The reason Reuben is in this category (he is, in fact, Experiment 625, the one made right before Stitch) is because he has all of Stitch's powers and intelligence but is too lazy to follow orders unless coerced a great deal. I don't remember exactly why Jumba didn't reclassify him in the Failed Experiments category, but I think it's because Jumba figures a lazy attitude doesn't make Reuben less dangerous. The reason you don't really hear about most of the 600 line is because very few exhibit the sentience and intelligence Stitch has. Most of them have the animal-like behavior of the other Experiments. They just have game-breaker powers like creating black holes, deflecting projectiles (with no upper limit to what it can deflect), and ending existence.

On Kevin Michael Richardson, I'll paraphrase Ted 2: "Have you watched any TV cartoon ever? He's the black guy."

4:15: I was expecting Terra to help the giant alien guy recapture Stitch or something. Instead, he works for someone who is obviously villainous not by character design or motivation, but by Freudian slip. 8:55: And by "Freudian slip," I mean "occasionally boasting that he's created a destructive abomination". Despite being te least villainous villain Terra's worked for, Jumbaa's the worst at hiding it. 10:30: It's official, he's not even trying. 1:50: Same. Their smooth lines and swooping curves make them "feel" less...I dunno, aloof and hard-edged than most fictional machines. You don't see that often; the only artist I can think of who regularly draws machines like that is Akira Toriyama (I picked up a DS copy of _Chrono Trigger_ the other day, and it's really obvious that he designed Robo). 10:45: Wait, are they pulling stuff from the animated series I forgot existed until just now? That's so neat! I wonder if other Kingdom Hearts games take stuff from Disney TV shows...maybe KH4 could have a Ducktales world? Also, love the "Terra Firma" pun.

The spaceship's design (as well as most of the technology in it) are inspired by Googie architecture (not to be confused with Google). Googie was that trend in the 1940's to the 1960's where people wanted to put tailfins on everything and make everything be made of sweeping curves. This style, in turn, was inspired by the cigar rocketships of fiction earlier than that. Examples include those Cadillac convertibles popular during that era, as well as a lot of bowling alleys for some reason (most notably the one in The Simpsons). Space Channel 5 uses Googie-inspired environmental design too, as a throwback to the science fiction of the time (if the soundtrack full of big band jazz didn't tip you off to that).

Depends on your perspective. Iger is a fantastic business man, but lacks any and all creativity. If something's successful, he gives it the money to keep going, even when it should stop. Eisner was creative-ish, and that's kinda why after several successful movies, the company tanked. They were either too creative, too bland, or just didn't have any budget because Disney was dying again. But at least he tried doing original stuff. Heck, Eisner bought out Pixar, the mother of 20 years of creativity.

Do you like the idea of another retread in the tv series' plot of Stitch catching and rehabilitating experiments in Japan . . . without Lilo? The premise of the two lonely outcasts finding a friend in one another in their movie and the rest of their series showing the strength of their bond, and then being separated due to petty and contrived reasons is just depressing.

@@NobodyC13 Hm...sounds like the sort of thing I'd read the TV Tropes page for and then forget about.
@NobodyC135 жыл бұрын
Okay, I'll explain a bit more. Stitch (along with Jumbaa and Pleakley, I think) runs away to Japan because he thought Lilo had abandoned him. Initially Jumbaa lied to him that Lilo outgrew him (which questions the validity of the information and makes the viewer wonder how the hell the did Jumbaa regress to callousness?) Later on they did an episode that elaborated a bit more. Stitch felt he and Lilo were drifting apart as the latter grew older and started taking on more adult responsibilities like school and supporting Nani. She tries to quell his fears by promising to meet him at a spot to hang out, only to be delayed with news that Nani is expecting (or about to go into labor). Lilo doesn't show up, Stitch feels abandoned and departs Hawaii: Lilo arrives too late and cries in the rain. The two don't reunite until years later when Lilo was visiting Japan on vacation. . . with her five year old daughter who looks exactly like her at that age. You see what I mean when the premise and circumstances behind it feel petty, contrived, and depressing?
