KH2 I think might be the first time that the name "Yen Sid" has been made canon. It's long been an *unofficial* nickname for the sorcerer character from Fantasia, supposedly given by the animators themselves because his stern demeanor toward his apprentice Mickey reminded them of how strict Walt was with his animators. But I don't think it was ever canonical until KH2. Neat.

Fun Fact #2: In the new Ducktales series there is a tie to Kingdom Hearts with the mention of Sea-salt ice cream being Scrooge's favorite flavor. Seas-salt ice cream is a creation of the Kingdom Hearts games.

Fun fact, the pre-final mix game was designed with the idea that you would never bother leveling up your drive forms, so high jump, fly, etc are never required in any of the platforming areas. The puzzle pieces and dungeon added in Final Mix are the only places that now need them.

Mild spoiler: The mirrors are the forms you will get. Valor is the strength, then there will be one for magic, one for magic and strength, one ultimate form (because of course there is) and one form you'll never *want* to see but you'll definetly see a bit.

Dan only checked 5 of the 6 mirrors - Anti-Form, Valor Form, Wisdom Form, and I think Final Form and Limit Form, but one of those could have been Master Form instead - without knowing what the sixth mirror would have shown, it's hard to say which form of those three was missed.

Yeah, if the line was: "the six of us, I mean, the *five* of us", instead of the other way around, Roxas would make sense as a subconscious slip, so Sora forgetting Jiminy makes more sense in this case. The only reason I can think of that Nomura would say that is that he is trying to make everything in this series connect to make it seem more "deep" than it actually is, but come on, we know Nomura, he would NEVER do that, riiiiiiiiiiight? ;)

I just went and translated the original Japanese and its the same order of 5 to 6 and its actually translated pretty literally to the English so no clue whats going.

You will want to level up your drive forms as much as possible. They give you movement abilities that you will need to access all the puzzle pieces and optional areas/bosses. You will only be able to level them up to a certain point based on the amount of forms you have. P.S. there is a final mix exclusive form! It'll bring back memories.

I don't know if it counts as a spoiler, but just in case... The mirrors in the Wardrobe room foreshadow the various forms Sora will acquire in the journey. Each one describes a form Sora will be able to unleash (including the one that talks about "being overcome by the power of darkness"). It's a neet lil' easter egg I wasn't aware until my second playthrough, so it's worth mentioning.

I remember playing the first KH during a summer time And I played KH 2 in the following summer. While I was playing the game, I projected my 'year away' onto Sora and I made up my own head cannon that Sora was actually a kid on a star trek Holodeck and experiencing an adventure story, and that he'd been 13 or 14 during the first game and then left to go to school for a year, and returned at age 15 or 16 to spend his summer break playing through the next part of the adventure.

I'm certain it's that Carrie is correct. He can "feel" Roxas. Not consciously, but that complete feeling of them being there. He can't see, hear, touch, or anything, but he knows he's there, deep down inside.

**There might be Spoilers!** I've been holding this in until you changed outfits. A FAST GUIDE FOR GRINDING DRIVE FORMS (which get you tall jump, double jump, a dashing ability, and glide>super glide). I only know this stuff from the old game, but there's an additional form in the remix version. I don't know anything about him, so... 1. ANTI-FORM: before I tell you anything, I need to warn you about Anti-Form. You don't gain experience and you can't heal in this form. But he's the COOLEST one to look at as far as animation (even in idle mode and hanging from ledges). He has his own gauge that advances every time you go into Valor (1 point), Wisdom (2 points), and Master (3 points). And when he activates, you won't be able to do the Drive Refill Trick because Sora reverts when you go through a door and your Drive will be at zero. The ONLY form not affected is Final Form. It actually reduces the gauge. Another warning: DO NOT GRIND IN HALLOWEEN TOWN. Anti-Form really likes to pop up there for some reason. 2. DRIVE REFILL TRICK: Before your Drive Gauge runs out, go to a save point that goes to the World Map. Gauge resets when you have returned. I really hope that hasn't been patched out in Final Mix. And it puts a kinda fun timer on grinding. I like seeing how far I can get from the save point. 4. SET PARTY TO SORA ATTACK when grinding, because the experience gained depends on how much damage you deal (Valor), how many heartless defeated (Wisdom), how many Drive Orbs you collect (Master), and how much experience you gain from killing Nobodies (Final). You'll be alone in Master and Final. 5. LOCATIONS FOR GRINDING: Literally any location nearest a save point is good. My favorite for leveling up Final Form is Yin Sid's Tower just before World That Never Was. A good spot for Master Form is the Crystal Fissure area. I grind the other two where ever I think is best. That's about it for the drive forms that I know. Hopefully someone can fill in on Limit Form and anything else that's changed. I hope this wasn't too spoilery.

Oh, I see. The mirrors describe Sora's forms. (Also, those fairies have been letting Tetsuya Nomura influence their design style way too much.) Regarding the puzzle piece above Dewey's shop: I haven't played this game, but it looks like you can jump onto the wooden fence to the right, then jump onto the stone wall next to it, and that allows access to the store's roof. From there, you can drop down to reach the piece. By the way, I love how the menu on the bottom left corner changes in appearance to match wherever you're at. So far, there are at least three for Twilight Town (the default one with the trolleys, a graffiti one when on the skateboard, and a Yen Sid themed one in the Tower) and it looks like we got a steampunk looking one for Hollow Bastion.

Well, she *was* consumed by Darkness, which isn't exactly the same as dying, but yeah, I feel like they could've reached into their bag of tricks and grabbed another major villain from somewhere. Really confuse parts of the audience by hauling Exdeath or something in here =P Or Kefka. Kefka would make a great (... Ahahaha...) stand in for a major villain figure. Possibly *too much* of a presence though. Though, come to think of it, the whole "all hearts are connected" thing combined with "don't remember her" and her being swallowed by darkness and all could make some sense of it. By being remembered she could use that as a line to draw herself back or w/e. I'd've still rolled or someone else though.

She left the same black stain from Sleeping Beauty after her defeat in KHI, so it did signify death if going by source material. A blink and miss comment from Vexen in Chain of Memories is the only foreshadowing we get to her returning, and even that's contradicted by HOW she returned. She brought herself back, but why here and why now? Why not back when there was a vacancy in the forces of good? She's just back because they needed someone in the lead villain role. Pete alone could've fulfilled that role, he can be more intimidating than you'd think! Sadly, this isn't even the worst case of unexplained resurrection in the game! Just wait til we get to everyone's "favorite" world...

Sora's got a new hairstyle in this game. His hair seems to be shaped more like a swept back triangle rather than a pointy mess. Especially noticeable is that it doesn't stick straight up at all anymore. His eyes also look a lot smaller and beadier. Not sure what to think about those.

Heck yeah, Drive Forms! I really like how they give you interesting movement abilities; I really like Quick Run and Air Dodge. Drive Forms are a really interesting, fun part of KH2... and thankfully, Final Mix leaves in the trick that makes leveling Drive Forms much easier. The other stuff you get from them is also nice; as someone who tends to favor a magic-heavy style, getting MP Rage and MP Haste from Wisdom Form is nice.

Drive Forms are great fun and a legitimate way of increasing your List of Abilities. For this very reason, a KEY piece of advice about Kingdom Hearts II that people often choose to do wrong is to use the Drive Forms as much as possible! People often consider the Drive Form-Resource as just that, a limited resource that must be preserved for needful situations, but this is the completely wrong way of using them! The more they are used, the better they are, the more they improve Sora's overall performance, and the cheaper it is to reuse them! If one can, one should honestly use them all the time, especially since it doesn't take much time at all to refill your Drive. Bonus information about keeping your Drive Form available is that if you leave a World while in a Drive-Form through a Save Point, it instantly refills your Drive to its Maximum. I've often grinded in Kingdom Hearts II by going into Drive Forms near a pair of Save Points and then fighting my way back and forth between them to continuously refill them, then repeating the process.

Whenever I would see a big chest in KH2 I'd run up to it yelling "Map map MAP!" Since 9 times out of 10 it was a map. Also I never really liked/understood what they meant by "Nobodies dont exist" like, they're tangible people that interact with the world around them. They think therefore they are. How could they not exist? Furthermore how come the three fairies weren't supposed to remember Maleficent? Pete and the others remember her. The line read on Sora mocking Leon felt sorta off to me, like it wasn't mocking enough. Might seem like a weird complaint, but I've always felt like Sora was less fun of a character in this game than KH1. I'm kinda wondering if maybe that perception has less to do with the writing, and more to do with Osment's acting this time around. He was much more emotive in Re:CoM, which was recorded later, so maybe he was a bit uncomfortable with the way his voice sounded during KH2? I think it'll be fun thinking about that through this playthrough

11:15: Eh; I feel dual-wielding is kinda overrated. Even ignoring the practical issues...it's kinda overplayed. Too many authors trying to make a character look badass just give them a second weapon. At least make it something that seriously changes their combat style (e.g, using one Keyblade to block attacks while attacking with the other).
