Not sure if anyone posted this,But here is the reason why Maleficent in her dragon form is hard. Back when Kingdom hearts was in development, Maleficent was gonna be the final boss of the game. but once Ansem was made, he took the role.

Actually, it depends a lot on what role you took at the begging. If you picked the shield, you''ll be able to endure lot of attacks before having a real need for heal. On the contrary, it's very hard if you picked ths sword at the begging, because it's a gameplay that often ask to heal yourself since you have low defense. Even if you take full defense with the equipment, you'll barely be able to tank normaly in hard-mode.

Somehow in KH1, when I fought the Dragon, I was able to stand on the thorns on the side of the room while beast and goofy did all the fighting, then I went in for the final blow. Yes, you can stand on the thorns, blocking and evading every attack.

Well my strategy was summoning Bambi first to spam Fira away from Maleficent's range of attacks, while restoring my magic, then I summon Tinkerbell, keep spamming Fira, and let myself get hit a few times to restore magic since Tinkerbell heals me for free.

If you go back to Wonderland and pick up the Lady Luck keyblade, go to Traverse Town and buy as many ethers as possible, and also pick up the Royal Crown on the way up Hollow Bastion, you can stunlock her by spamming Stop/Stopra then Gravity/Gravira x2 while Goofy and Beast physically attack and throw ethers at Sora.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who hated fighting freaking Kurt Zisa!! He was freaking crazy. After about the fifth time I said, "Screw it," ran off to Hollow Bastion and the End of the World and spent hours grinding to level 99. Then put in a couple more hours to forge Ultima Weapon. And it was still fairly hard. I swear, I ever see that abominable six-arm metal freak again...

He's more time consuming than hard. He just takes a longer time to beat than most bosses where you can happily wail on them with attacks but for him you can only attack him when he tells you to and with certain moves only. Kurt's certainly a much tougher boss but he goes down faster than Phantom. MP gift with Goofy helps a load too meaning you'll never run out of magic :V

Thank god the cutscene on Kurt Zisa and Phantom wasn't too long... I beat phantom a couple years after my first playthrough (I couldn't figure out the spell thing, let alone the damn clock), but I never beat Kurt Zisa with his hex... and now I'm replaying on expert. I hope he doesn't undo a precast Air.

I don't remember making this comment, but I did indeed defeat them both. Kurt Zisa was a fun fight, I'll have to replay the game again sometime. His difficulty just proves that cure is overpowered, so I'm thinking my next playthrough will be no restrictions besides the player being banned from using cure. I'll be curious to see how much I need to level to actually progress, although I'm not sure whether I should opt for morning, afternoon, or evening for XP gain. Phantom is a unique fight. The very heavy reliance on MP to beat the clock and deal damage makes it a bit gimmicky, but the sort of "puzzle" the fight is presented as makes it surprisingly interesting for a battle that uses the flight mechanics (which are not very good, imo).

Kurt is a lot more challenging, Phantom is just very time consuming since you can only hit it with specific attacks at certain times. Once Goofy has MP gift you'll pretty much never run out of magic to hurt the Phantom or cast stop on the clock either :V
