On points 4 and 5, technically Lea can formchange his keyblade back to chakrams as seen in the ReMind fight with the Seasalt Trio against Xemnas+Saix, but by the same token it's sort of Nomura wanting to have his cake and eat it too. #3 is definitely the result of translation shenanigans. IIRC the original JP version of KH1 never used "Keyblade Master", but something more like "Keyblade Hero". Overall the language makes it easier to grasp that Sora was never meant to be The One And Only Hero Chosen by the One and Only Keyblade, just that he was THE ONE "hero" as foretold BUT separate from any explicit exclusivity to Keyblade-wielding. And suddenly it makes sense when Riku says what he says if you change it to mean "There can't be two Keyblade heroes." This isn't to say that at the time of KH1 there were already plans for the Keyblade War as a concept but just that the JP text made it sound a lot less exclusive and thus easier to slot in "and there were other folks who swung Keyblades" as added lore.

Oh god a Nomura and Yoko Taro crossover is the most cursed idea I've ever seen, I love it.
@kungfuvoodoo9889 Жыл бұрын
One thing that always stuck out to me with Nier Automata was how the designs of 2B and 9S are very similar to Riku's in 358/2 Days, the full black outfit + blindfold and white hair so the thought of a crossover is kind of tempting from that point of view. Can't say I picture the two properties meshing super well together, like FF in the other KH games were a bit of a stretch but it was sort of like pairing something kid-friendly with something more adolescent-friendly (and FF14 having the crossover Nier raid was kind of on the other end of that spectrum) whereas KH+Nier would be like pairing kid-friendly with... well I guess mature is one word but specifically things like sexual themes/undertones, violence/blood (even though main characters were androids they still had blood-like fluids that would spurt out when they got stabbed) and probably most importantly the themes of utter despair, existential dread and nihilism in the story of Nier, just doesn't really seem like a good fit for the KH universe. Sure they could tone it down like they did with the FF characters but it would kinda take away from the experience IMO.

I grew to love kh3 more then 2fm but mainly because limit cut. The base game is slightly worse then original kh2 and I think if you do my test youll completely agree First off I will say the optimal kh2fm experience is far and away critical mode level 1 .. this setting isn’t just a weird challenge it feels like the most optimized difficulty in the game like the entire game was designed around it, if you haven’t done this play through plus post game ( many fans have during the 10 year wait for kh2) and been extremely intimate with every single gameplay. You’ll probably think kh2fm is lacking a bit Ive done this with every game in the series. The base game of Kh3 was pretty good but not kh2 level. That said the limit cut makes it my favourite because of how insanely good the limit cut fights are at lv1 .. after that dlc I felt kh3 lived up to the wait .

I feel like the keyblade would be more special after the reval of the keyblade war. Kinda like how after Order 66 the Jedi and the concept of "the force" both became Legend to the point where some characters didn't know they ever existed (the Mandolorian) or straight up deny their existence (Han Solo). As much of a fan I am of KH2, the scene where Riku just inexplicably handing Kairi a Keyblade out of nowhere is what made them "not special". Side note regarding Axel with his Chakrams: I think they should explore the Idea of other types of magic weaponry. Like I get that the Keyblade is the only thing that can truly seal a heartless, but having what seems to be more and more characters using a one-handed sword make the series feel stale. The OG org 13 had such a weapon variety that makes each of them so memorable.

There are SO many things that I disagree with on the list, most of them just come from misunderstandings in the story. I understand why everyone thinks that in KH3, they suddenly made Xehanort a misunderstood good guy and then Dark Road came along to fix it when people started complaining... but that's all due to a mistranslation. In KH3, Xehanort describes his end goal as 'An empty world, pure and bright' when in the Japanese version, he says something along the lines of 'An empty world, pure and blank'. In the English versions, that mistranslation makes it seem like he's going to preserve the light and get rid of the darkness... when in ACTUALITY, he's planning on killing everything, destroying everything (including both light AND darkness) and then leaving the world as a blank slate for eternity and this is why I think Dark Road is a good game story-wise because once you understand that, Xehanort's motivations in Dark Road become so much clearer: he saw that the darkness in Baldr's heart was created because Baldr's friends had a light in their heart that was far brighter than his, they casted metaphorical shadows onto his heart that manifested as literal darkness, Xehanort notices this and is explicitly told about how it happened so he realises that the only way to destroy the darkness is if no light exists because if light exists, there will always be shadows and the stronger the light, the deeper those shadows get. Sorry about the rant, it just really annoys me that (at least in my opinion) Xehanort's motivations are clear and really well written but it all got ruined by a SINGLE mistranslation.

Cool video. Probably my weirdest take on KH is that the Final Fantasy chars are a mixed bag(given the backlash that base 3 got for excluding them). On one hand, I do love the fan service, and FF chars provide a ton of opportunities for post game hummanoid superbosses. Like imagine KH4 where Sora can fight against Gilgamesh, Dark Knight Cecil, and Clive. Pretty cool. However, the FF chars tend to be poorly characterized in Kh games. Cloud was turned into a stoic emo type when he wasn't that in OG FF7, and somehow they turned Aerith into a plank of wood. Def a mixed bag imo.

Regarding the "the key blade isn't special anymore" take, it is kinda true, but also sora was only the chosen one in KH1 by sheer luck that he happened to be right beside Riku when Riku fell to darkness and the keyblade decided that was pretty cringe. Honestly I don't even dislike the keyblade war aspect for making keyblade less special, I hate kh3 showing that Keyblade can just break and Yen Sid apparently has spares laying around to replace them. I'm fine with a lot of people having access to the super magical weapon, but I hate that they made the super magical weapon replaceable.

Something about the whole "why does roxas look nothing like sora?" thing, I don't think a nobody really HAS to look like their former selves. I guess the organization kinda set a precedent that they need to but if a nobody has to retain their aesthetic then why do lesser nobodies like dusks look nothing like an average npc? I don't think it's something that really matters all too much. I guess lesser nobodies just don't have enough power to retain their previous looks, if we need to explain it away and power level is what the key to a nobody looks like then the best explanation I can think of is that a nobody's form is based off of the source of a character's power rather than the body. This means riku's nobody would look like Terra, kairi's would look like aqua and sora's would look like ven (this explains roxas looking like ven) but then that explanation falls apart when you take into account namine is Kairi's nobody. So at the end of the day I don't think the aesthetic of somebody's nobody really has a specific source, it just kind of... Happens

The thing is that the reason the Org look like themselves is because they were created the normal way. They kept their forms due to having a strong heart as explained in Days and 2. Ansem, Xemnas, Roxas and Namine were all created while someone was possessed/had another heart inside them so they don’t look exactly like the person they technically are the nobody/heartless of, but rather a mixture of the hearts released at the time. So Namine and Roxas being blonde because Ven’s heart was in Sora along with Kairi’s, and Namine has powers relating to Sora as his body was used in the process of making her. Roxas is pretty much her other half that uses Ven and Sora’s hearts + Sora’s body. (It’s not confirmed but I like to chalk up him being able to contact Kairi in 2 as his connection to her heart being in the mix, but they never went anywhere with that so who knows.)

Great video biz! Btw, one of the takes this person deleted, was literally them saying that Kairi and Axel/Lea should have been in a romantic relationship... Considering the obvious reasons why that's insane and pedo to say. The backlash on that was super hectic.

the other take they deleted was "riku is a bottom" which received deserved backlash too so either this guy doesn't know what they're saying or they're just a weirdo

My Hot take was Vexens change of heart in KH3. He said nothing and did nothing to imply a change of heart in every appearance he made. I recall Just a Pancake even joking about that. Definitely a for the plot but dont think too hard on it moment.

1: "Within it lies the heart of all worlds, Kingdom Hearts!" Spoken so plainly in the first game, and that basic description has been repeated several times throughout the series. How is that the hardest thing in this series to comprehend? 4-5: What? Lea's Keyblade does frequently Formchange into the chakrams. 9: Eh, fair point. Even Ansem, the fist KH-original villain, doesn't feel as special as he used to. 19: The "/2" part is probably the weird bit - especially when the official pronunciation is "Three-Five-Eight Days Over Two". 25: Goofy's "death", to me, feels absolutely unnecessary. What, some random rock flung by a random Heartless's attack on a random Nobody is what does him in? And this unequips all of his gear and abilities, too! Do you know what a pain it was to remember what all I equipped onto him?! What did that accomplish (besides I guess making Mickey ditch his cloak)?! 29: ...Maaychu does know that a lot of KH2's world stories ARE recaps, right? 32: My hot take: Xemnas's characterization is better in every game that came out after KH2. We barely get much out of him in KH2, but we see so much more of his manipulative nature in Days and 3D. 33: Agreed. Pride Lands felt like pure filler. It didn't even have anything to do with the big parts of the main plot (Organization XIII and Riku). Also, SCREW the second hyenas battle! 36: The real challenge was not cringing during "Swim This Way". If one can handle that, the rest is serviceable to good. 38: I blame KH2 for adding way too many FF guest stars at once. Like, sure, the Gullwings were funny, but they're barely around for much, and were only used to inform Maleficent where Leon was going. And...consider how minor Maleficent's influence is in KH2. 42: Speaking of, how many complained when Pete unwittingly summoned a door to Disney Castle's past? I can understand Merlin, a mighty sorcerer, but PETE?? 43: Hrm, only four of the True Organization's members were truly Xehanort. Everyone else were just carriers (including Terra). 44: Anime plus Disney magic. KH3 had to add a lot of the latter for it to keep up. 67: Tidus and Wakka were clearly back on Destiny Islands in KH1's credits. Selphie even brings up the new ball game they've been busying themselves with in KH2. 68: Wait, are you saying Pooh didn't evolve into an angel there? 79: I'm between 1, Chain, and Days myself. 84: One thought I have about Kairi is that she seems like a living Wayfinder, if that makes sense? Like, how she was able to channel Sora's power to gain the boost she needed to match memory-Xehanort. I hope that gets expanded on. 89: There's technically already a Marvel world in the series (San Fransokyo). Granted, it's the Disney version of Big Hero 6, but... 91: Not...exactly? He was still set on wiping out the whole KH universe to reset it all, and merely tried to justify his reasoning. Sora had to call out his skewed views, and Eraqus had to convince him to relent. He wasn't even "redeemed" - he just had no one left besides Eraqus to guide him to the beyond. 93: ...Castle Oblivion, Namine, Yen Sid, Xehanort - those caused his first four level resets. Those weren't Sora's doing. Abusing the power of waking, on the other hand, IS on Sora. 94: Something like Ansem, I guess - a heart that somehow manifested its own physical form? A...magic construct from the heart? That...That's all I can think of. (Roxas, Namine, and Xemnas are kinda the oddities among Nobodies, though, given that they were all spawned from bodies that housed multiple hearts.) 95: With the way time flowed in the realm of darkness, wasn't that 10 years like a month or two for Aqua? 96: Or they're just "keys". Like, having a key card that opens an electronic door doesn't exactly mean you have all the energy of that door...if that makes sense? Or maybe passwords would be a better example. (It's kinda why I feel like no x-blade will ever be exactly as powerful as Kingdom Hearts itself. Heck, the x-blade in KH3 was made from the clashes of 20 hearts, compared to the two for the BBS one.) 99: Agreed. It's stupid fun - the BEST kind of stupid ever.

I have to really disagree on adding FF summons to the games because it kind of misses the point of why summons are how they are. Taking an FF mechanic and making it use Disney characters is literally the way the crossover of the two series is done.

I know it's an old video, but most of these takes are luke warm are best. With that said, if you want a hot take, Xion shouldn't have returned. It actively breaks the rules the game sets up since she is literally forgotten from that point on at the end of Days. The only reason she is back is because Nomura bowed to the fans and harmed the story in doing so.

Kingdom Hearts should have ended at KH2. Both Body and Heart of Xehanort destroyed therefore he can't come back (even tho when you do that it brings the guy back ???? instead of having both heartless and nobody at the same place for them to reunite and bring the original back would make more sense BUT idk nomura).

Nobody in-game ever said that destroying the Heartless and Nobody would bring back the OG until the secret ending in ReCODED. As far as the story of 1 -> 2 are concerned, once the Organization members died, they DIED.

5. Lea should have switched between the 2 weapons as a style. Also more strike raidy attacks. 24. Kh2 gummi ship stuff is actually fun. 33. Kh is better when they continue a movie plot rather than ape it. 82. The earlier games were better at separating the worlds out with their art style. A lot of kh3 feels like it could all take place on one planet. 87. Org members having hearts and Xemnas lying rather than not understanding them feels like a retcon. 91. There was a journal entry where he takes ven to the destiny islands to die in peace. I hate how they imply a level of kindness then dont deliver.

Here's a hot(maybe lukewarm?) take. Sora, Donald and Goofy are the best trio. I don't need to elaborate, if you've played all the number games, then you know how good they are as a group.

Ehhh that seems like a room Temperature take to me. Usually the popular opinion is the sea salt trio being the best and the runner up is usually that trio. Either them or bbs trio

@slayerstarx7109 I mean you said it yourself, people usually put Seasalt and Wayfinder trio above SDG. I'd consider 3rd place out of 4 main character trios a pretty heated take.
