Don't forget that Richard the Lion Heart beat Saladin in every battle. Crusades started due to Muslims persecuting Christian pilgrims. Correction, your information has a lot of false intake. First, Richard the Lionheart did beat Salahuddin in the Battle of Jaffa, but both sides take evident loses in the war, with King Richard suffered from diseases before the peace treaty was signed. Second, the war didnt start from the Muslims persecuting the Christians pilgrims, in fact, Salahuddin even offered protection to them. The Third Crusade started in the vehement of three Christian Kings, hence the name King’s War. They aim to take Jerusalem of Palestine, but failed to do so, but they did capture Cyprus and the area arround it, hence strenghtening their positions of the coastlines. Third, the Muslim world never crippled after the war. The peace treaty signed marks the growth of economic relationships between both sides. Both benefit from the treaty, and development never stopped. The Ayyubid Sultanate was in shambles after is because the battle of succesion between Salahuddin son’s. Ah, and another one, the Islamic world experienced its Golden Age during this period too, when the Christians are finally standing up by the influence of the Holy Roman Empire. And sadly, King Richard the Lionheart didnt live long too, as he was persecuted by his own King of the Christians for killing the King’s nephew.
