Wes is a director that never half-asses anything. If he decides to do a movie it’s because he’s passionate about it and will give it EVERYTHING he has. He puts so much thought behind every decision he makes. And he’s involved in every aspect of the filmmaking process. If I see his name attached to a project I will watch it.

For anyone here who is concerned about this movie due to negative test screenings, my advice is simply to wait until the movie actually comes out because test screenings won't always be indicative of the final quality of a product. In fact, there have even been cases where test screenings have actually had a negative impact on a film, showcasing that sometimes the audiences they choose for the screenings are subpar at best.
@BriarPatchNyra8 ай бұрын
This is always a good plan. I'm not going to tell anyone to rush to spend money (not in this economy) on something they're unsure of, but wait till audience reviews are out en masse before writing something off. And at the end of the day even if a lot of people don't like something, you might, and that's fine! Taste is subjective.

I completely agree about the future of the franchise. There's a HUGE story to tell from the origin of ape intelligence to the original POTA, but directly showing the original POTA isn't a good idea imo. I think it's a much better idea to show everything that leads to POTA, then end it. That'd be perfect. Despite how visually stunning this reboot series is, I don't think there's any way of redoing the original POTA that'd feel right. For me, the whole point of this series is that they're prequels.

Since Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' Director Wes Ball has taken inspiration from Hayao Miyazaki’s style for directing the Legend of Zelda movie, my hope it has a well established relationship of Link x Princess Zelda’s relationship (where started out at best of friends in the beginning until their journey evolves them into be lovers) and a new iteration of them traveling hyrule together. Plus, make an original story similar to what the Super Mario Bros Movie has done build by complement and passionate writers, Princess Zelda becomes a great companion to Link, established the Zelda Lore and mythology, other abilities the Master Sword has, provided Ganondorf enough character background ( one where we can all understand the iconic gaming villain’s intentions, how we should hate him and feared of him as the Gerudo King slowly becomes the Demon King), etc.

What made Reeves trilogy so successful was watching how the apes evolved. Jumping so far into the future makes it less grounded and more sci-fi… I dislike that approach and I hate that we’ll never get to see Cornelius’ growth into a leader and how he might’ve led the apes into a better world. There’s no redemption for Caesar without that. This is too big of a leap. I don’t know how I’ll feel. On top of all that, Disney owns the property which means a family-friendlier approach. Worse than that even is Wes Ball. His last 3 films (his only films) which are adaptations of pre-teen novels are all rotten on Rotten Tomatoes. Why put such a beloved franchise into the hands of a failure, If not that a novice…?

@josephrusso48288 ай бұрын
The cgi is fine, it’s just that the good apes look more human and thus, less real. Also, why is matt reeves getting all the credit for these movies? If one person deserves credit for this trilogy, it’s mark bomback, he helped write all 3 films, with Rick Jaffa and Amanda silver creating the overall story in Rise. Matt reeves helped a lot with the sequels but he’s not the mastermind of the series. Anyway, idk why I wrote all that, since everyone’s ignoring it…
