I disagree. That passage talks about two things which are headship AND covering. For the man he said "Covered" but for the woman he said "UNcovered". If "covering" in that passage meant submission to earthly headship (a dishonour) then "UNcovering" should NOT have also been a (dishonour) like covering because "Covering" and "UNcovering" are OPPOSITE things. Verse 6 of 1Cor. 11 makes it even clearer that the covering is material covering. Read all the verses for more insight. 1Cor. 11:1-15. Long hair is a covering for a woman not when she's praying or prophesying but when she's not or at home or outside. The letter indeed killeth!!! The Bible is not a literary piece but a Spiritual fountain of wisdom. People like to take away things from context and forget that the Bible has mysteries that must be uncovered by the help of the Holy Spirit. Paul in that same scripture indicated that the hair of the woman was her covering ( 1 Cor 11:15), he never spoke of a cloth or a scarf because what must be covered is the head and not the hair. But Paul is even talking more deeply than just mere covering of head, he’s expounding on the concept of headship and the covering a woman has over her husband. When you read this 1 Cor 11 with Prov 31, it gives you an indication of the woman’s role in the life of man among other scriptures. Let’s stop taking the Bible literally and seek the Holy Spirit for His wisdom in the Word. Same thing Paul spoke of concerning marriage in Ephesians. People always forget at the tail end, he indicated that what He spoke was a mystery and He was actually referring to Christ and the Church. However, while we stress on how important it is for women to submit and men to love, etc, we forget that we as the bride of Christ need not neglect our role to submit to Him, and we keep on moving about our days with our own will. Hmm... The Jewish men cover their heads when praying in their temple. So, it is possible the scripture isn't referring to physical covering of head for women praying or prophesying. But, I still want to study this scripture; but wait... Will a woman who don't have a head tie fail to have her prayers answered because of that??? The scripture he quoted said: "A man or woman praying or prophesying...", displays an adverbial clause of time, meaning "whenever" action of prayer or prophesying is engaged, then "a man" must not cover his head as a sign that he is under Yahshua's headship and for a woman, she MUST BE COVERED, remember it's only "when" prayer/prophesying is engaged, outside such activity, she can be uncovered, now, her head covering means she is under the covering of her husband and Yah n Yahshua sees her thru her submission in honoring her husband even in worship activity. I do not agree with this, for it is stated very clear and simple that the Lord is talking about both spiritual headship and it physical symbolism. If not, that same chapter wouldn't have talk about shaving of hair and keeping of long hair, to symbolize we are under authority during the public worship. Come to think of it, what does shaving of hair has to do with spiritual headship if God doesn't want us to live it practical example, as a symbolism to what he was explaining. So this same scripture is talking about the authority of God over men and that of men, over women, and also instructed us to live it practically on earth so as to symbolize a physical sign that we are under authority, and that we are abiding by its rules, such as the same way we practically go to church on Sunday to worship God, in order to symbolize that law which says, "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy... " or does that mean we do not worship God in spirit and in truth? Or those that mean does that mean God cannot answer prayer if we do not pray from the temple? We only remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy as d lord commanded. And for the persons that made reference to water baptism at the comment section, the scripture didn't say any Water, the scripture stated it very clear and simple to understand, that it is River... If not the apostle could have just baptize people any how by using the pool at their backyard or water in bowl, but the Bible stated it clear that the baptism shld be done by the river. Hello Brethren, I love your exegesis of the word and your reply to the comments. When you mention the sabbath as an example,i believe you ahould know we dont keep that law. First of all, sabbath is meant to be the last day of the week exodus 20:10, and we arenot meant to work on that day exodus 31:14, which means even though we keep that law partially now, the bibke wasnot interpreted and lived literally on that. Which means this can be applied to other parts of the bible as well, when you understand the history of the bible, you will understand that it was interpreted from Many languages, the 1 Corinthians was written in hebrew, so i believe going back to the original text helps alot when things like this happen. When i checked the original text, it explains that a man that prays or prophesies with his head covered (that is against God) dishonours God, you can confirm this please. The preposition that stands for with his head covered is KATA, do check the original text, and this applies downwards.

Don't make a big deal out of this, cover you hair if you want, the hair forms part of a ladies beauty(her glory)...but if you do the physical covering so well and neglect the spiritual one which is more important, you would be cheap meat for the devil to ride on.... Hence diligence in physical covering of the hair without the spiritual covering is HYPOCRISY with a red flag. Furthermore this explanation might not be necessary but for that verse 15, it speaks of having a longer hair which is rare and highly adorable to behold, hence you are advised to cover it not to constitute a distraction in the congregation. As stated in the scripture the longer hair is her glory and in a congregation of saints only one Glory should be beheld and that's the Glory of God, and God will not share his Glory with any man..selah!

The problem with how people interpret this passage obviously shows a lack of the full meaning of trinity. Jesus is not under God. He's the manifestation of God. He's in consonance with the Godhead. The Bible should be our standard over everything. Read 1 Corinthians 11:5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. V.s 11:6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

This is a deep spiritual teachings on the Headship of Christ, yet some people would rather remain chained to religiosity. "...it has been given unto you to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given". (Matthew 13:11)Better to learn from those to whom the mysteries have been given unto, than to continue to be a baby christian lacking spiritual insight. Most of the Bible is metaphorical, thereby requiring a constant communication, submission and intimacy with the Holy Spirit to TEACH us this mysteries.(John 14:26). Many still pursue the letter of the law, rather than the SPIRIT of the law in Christ Jesus.(Romans 8:2). This is not Sunday School teaching, it is advanced post graduate lecture, so it will sound strange to many. But brethren, that mind ought to be renewed (Romans 12:2) in Christ ASAP. Shalom!
