Fun fact: India always was the British Raj, up until around 1947 when Mohatmas Karamchund Ghandi used the power of nonviolence -- and mindfuck -- to convince Britain to give them their independence without a fight, and they even gained Pakistan out of it as far as I may know. Now they're just the British Raj minus the British, and they're the second-largest population by nation in the world. Mindfuck wins, (almost) flawless victory. Mortal Kombat minus the Kombat.

Mr. Gandhi didnt do anything. He was a British agent sent by britain to tame Indians and preventing them from doing another 1857 type revolt. One revolt transferred power from company to crown. Next one would have kicked them out. His contemporaries were beaten to death(like lala lajpat rai) but gandhi was never even touched by even a stick. The real reason behind India's independence was Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He was indirectly responsible for the 1946 revolt(people call it a naval revolt but it had already spread to both navy and police and had it went for few more days it would have spread to air force and army as well. I think even air force had joined the revolt and army was about to join) which shook the very basis of Colonial power in the subcontinent. Infact the revolt was nationwide and had it succeded it would have prevented any partition as people from both sides were in it and the revolt was at its strongest in Karachi. Mr. Gandhi and his minions and the Congress party were the ones who played a key role in subjugating the rebellion. U can't have a govt when the police has declared rebellion and the army is about to join.
