When you said "They don't make games like this anymore," and "I feel like gaming has been going in the wrong direction," I fully resonated with that. I truly believe we need more games like KOA that are actually games first, have a unique style, and fun game mechanics. Games continue to feel less and less like video games, and more of an excuse to show how "pretty we can make graphics," and "pay $60 for a new game that isn't finished, then also buy a season pass, and also spend money towards premium currency so you can gamble with loot boxes." I don't mind spending money on games when they have this actual video game feel to them, like KOA, and I really hope that video game devs can get back on track with making games like this.

Always manage to find an excuse to play it, and am always more than happy when I see that someone else has played and enjoyed it. Definitely hope that we get a sequel soon, especially with how great Capcom's RE Engine is, it would look and play amazingly!

I feel like after having way too many high fantasy games a long long time ago, we now have way too few. I’ll take swords over guns any day. Fantasy RPG’s that allow character creation are still my jam. Dragon’s Dogma is still my favourite game to this day.

Just recently started jumping back into this game. I’d kind of forgotten how fun the combat can be in this. I’m planning on picking this expansion up, and I’m hoping that the attention it’s been getting via the remaster and now this dlc is a sign that they’re thinking of doing a sequel. Amalur is a world I’d like to see more of.

Definitely. I forgot how well done the dungeon crawls are done in this game. The idea of procedurally generated dungeons in this expansion is awesome. That has the potential to add a lot more time to the game.

Kingdoms of Amalur is one of my favorite games ever. Before last year I thought it was dead. I will gladly pay $20 for the new expansion after beating it again with Re-Reckoning and enjoying the previous DLC which I didn't play first time on the 360

I paid for the bundle when it was first announced. I really adore this game and it was nice playing it again on a newer platform. So I had no problem paying for the expansion. Honestly a part of me really wants this to do well because when Kingdoms of Amalur was first released the original creators planned to have 3 games so I truly hope we may get a sequel.

Are the horrendous loading times on ps4 cut down on ps5? I stopped playing the ps4 version because if u enter a building or house it took loke 20 secs to load every time

The game world is beautiful, combat is fun and I've always liked the rich cartoony graphics of games like WoW and Amalur really was great when I played it years ago. I will be buying the DLC at retail because like others, I want to see it do well and encourage a sequel.

I am currently playing re-reckoning for the first time since it was free on PS+. It’s so fun! The quest quality, writing, voice acting, combat, progression, all great. I agree, wish there were more games like it. I’ll drop $20 on the expansion just to support the genre.

Finally a classic expansion that continues your character's story after the main game! I'm sick of these BS DLCs that integrate their story in the middle of the main story. It makes zero sense to have a world ending threat but then go off on a side adventure. I can't stand DLC's that do that.

Bought the set on release, the 60 fps and FOV slider with the up rez and graphical adjustments make it totally worth it. And yes, it's a major difference from the OG on 360 if you're playing on a series x. I would mark this as good as skyrim, just a little more world of warcraft-y, and it's priced correctly as a result.

As an upgrade it certainly isn't worth a further 40 dollars for those things. Things that could be patched in by modders with only a small amount of work. It's not a major difference on PC though that never had the issues with capped resolutions that consoles did, it doesn't seem to be a difference at all (I'm convinced they didn't change the graphics). If you like it as much as Skyrim, that's fine. The comparison doesn't make sense though, as you said it's similar to World of warcraft which makes it VERY different from Skyrim.

@@ajmunn1229 Were Terra online, Lineage, Ragnorak online and Mabinogi 'wrpgs like Skyrim'? All of those were the Korean MMOs that pioneered this style of game if didn't know. Western MMOs of that time like Ultima online, Tibia, Neverwinter nights, Asheron's call and Dark age of camelot were player driven sandboxes and nothing like Kingdoms of Amalur. What you said doesn't actually make any sense. MMOs in the style of Kingdoms of Amalur aren't specifically or really 'wrpgs', let alone 'like Skyrim'. Nor are 'wrpgs' all the same or Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur or MMOs like WoW a representation of what 'wrpgs' are like. KoA doesn't represent the styles of Ultima & ultima Underworld, Wizardry, Pool of Radiance, Dark sun, Gothic, Darklands, Fallout 2, Arcanum of steamworks & magick obscura, Baldur's gate 2, Ishar, Realms of Arkania, Quest for Glory, Lands of Lore, Bad Blood, Jagged Alliance, Albion, Vampire the Masquerade bloodlines, Arx fatalis, Divinity, Fable or Dungeon Lords for example.

Just learned of this game coming back with a DLC after having played it back when it came out and several times since then. Super hyped to play it again, it's one of all my all time favorite games. That being said, it did feel kind of shitty to have to buy re-reckoning as well as the expansion content, and not even get like 10 bucks off or something for already owning the original game. I don't mind paying it though, because I would love nothing more than seeing KOA 2.

With a new cap id thought of a higher difficulty aswell perhaps just me tho however yea 10 extra lvls aka 30 skill points that SHOULD mean you can get the ultimate from 2 skill trees now.

Love the game. All things considered 20 dollars is a bit much for a smaller expansion. However considering my unique experience which is getting the game for free with playstation plus and having finished the main game and reaching the original level cap without playing the dlc. So the twenty dollars isn't as hard to pay since it's giving me a reason to play the other dlc. Without the level cap increase i would have waited.

I bought this game three times. I don't know about Xbox or pc but for PlayStation the game was discounted for preorder with the dlc included. I paid 42 bucks and don't regret it. Hopefully we get a sequel to allow them to add the weapons that werent originally added such as spears, axes etc.

I'll 100% be getting the fatesworn dlc. picked this game up for about £15 back on the PS3 and absolutely battered it. Probably my favourite game of its gen. Paid separately for Dead Kel and Teeth of Narros (£8 and £16 respectively IIRC) but considering I just got the game again for free on ps+ I have absolutely no objection to paying for a new dlc. Only problem is it's not high up on my priorities. It's a great game and I'm looking forward to getting back into it, but I'm not gonna drop everything for it. It can wait til new year.

This is my first time playing this game, I got Rereckoning for free on PS+ last month, so far I'm actually enjoying this game a lot and i was surprised it got a DLC expansion. My only issue is that its $20 which imo is a bit overpriced for a small expansion. I feel $10 would have been more fitting then i would of bought it right away since I've already finished the main story and am doing side quests to hit lvl 40 (currently lvl 37 at the time of me typing this). I will watch some gameplay of the DLC before deciding if I'll buy it or not, im not one to just buy DLC for the sake of buying its gotta be worth $20.

20 is probably fine. This game was really good, after all. I ended up buying the OG game for my buddy on his birthday like, 8 years ago, but ended up being the one that played it. I wish I had borrowed KoA longer so I could have beaten the story. That's kinda neat they're adding a dlc to an old game. THQ be wilin' out! Now, if they can just completely remake Darksiders 3 into a good game, we're all set. ❤️❤️

Game was initially under the shadow of Skyrim when it released. had it released earlier or later it would have done so much better. I'm glad it was remaster. Price tag is decent if you never experienced it which I'm guess alot of people havent due to skyrim and witcher 3. It's easily 80+ hour game with amazing combat and with the expansion making it may be 90-100 hours. that's really good.

Generally speaking, the price is definitely on the higher end, and we can compare it to similar DLC’s like Blood & Wine, Old Hunters, Ringed City, Dragonborn, and sure, maybe the price isn’t quite in line with what it should be($15 would’ve been solid, which I technically paid as I bought the bundle). That said, considering that this is even happening to begin with, and what’s there is the same quality, I don’t think most people will mind paying $20. The base game and it’s expansions gave me well over 100+ hours, which is a steal, so $20 for more when I thought the game was dead forever? The devs deserve a little extra.

I remember I pirated this game when it came out (because I was a kid and didn't have money). It was surprisingly good and I almost finished the game back then. As I grow older and game industry becomes so huge now, I can't help but feel sad about the game was underrated and leads to the end of a potential franchise. If it wasn't so underrated, it would be turned into a franchise and go up against franchise like The Elder Scroll. Now I am glad that THQ Nordic is giving attention to this game and hopefully it will turn into a franchise it deserves.

Fatesworn is currently 6 bucks Canadian right now after New Years in 2024 up till the 18th of January!.....I picked up my PS4 Re Reckoning disc yesterday, brushed the dust off my case, and put it in....this is my third time attempting to give Amalur a shot in like 10 years.....well yesterday I clocked in over twelve hours alone from my last save over a year ago and completed Faelands(trying to find the Belen armor set without use of any wiki or google search!? I came across the chest and gloves while playing and the chest looks sick!)first time for how long this game has been out that I have finally now experienced a new biome i have never seen before which is Menetyre, and first time seeing this buome ever last night!....I am hooked now! I may buy the Fatesworn for the huge sale but of course will not be needing it for quite a while!

Yes it is worth it. The new DLC is really fun. Completed it on my old character and now started another and I have discovered that they fixed the Dead Kel DLC. You can now transfer building materials to JUNK!! Yep. so in your endeavors to gain Flawless Damaging Rivets and so on, all that garbage the lady gives you can now be disposed of. Also if you want to collect and read a few books you can now get rid of them also. Prior to this you had to be really careful what you picked up as you could not get rid of it. Yep the new DLC is a lot of fun. All the old bugs as far as I can tell have been fixed. Cheers Kit

Doing a let's play on this but it's gonna be a massive one since the game is gigantic. 20 is a bit on the high price but since I got main game plus 2 expansions for free. Agree with everything you said with the slight exception of saying it's not much of a remake. I think looking at it from the "there are not lots of fancy new graphics" angle misses the point that what they did change is huge for players of the original game. Things like - Better loot drops and more relevant or useful loot drops to your character at the time - Better quality components for crafting dropping earlier so you don't have to almost complete the game to make the best equipment, only to use it for a few encounters at the end - No longer having regions locked to the level you were at when you first visited them so they remain a consistent challenge to earn experience from Amalur is all about gameplay and these are all massive game changers that make the game play like it should have played to begin with. I don't think things like that should be so readily dismissed and judging the remake by something as shallow as a lack of new graphics does it an injustice. Apart from that, as I said, I find your assessment sound and enjoyed the video so thank you for making it, and answering the question I couldn't find anywhere else, that you don't need to start again. The expansion price I agree is a little high. I paid £16, down from £18 due to a small amount off in a sale, but really it shouldn't have been more than £10. I would have been happier to pay that if there were some assurance of future expansions or more games being made like this, but we have no such assurances and it's too much to pay for a maybe.

I ended up pre ordering the Re-Reckoning Editionso that way I didn't have to buy the New Expansion when it comes out (which is tomorrow). If you buy the Re-Reckoning Edition the new DLC will be free.

This is a pleasant surprise. I redownloaded the game on ps4 when I saw that it was one of the free games of November. I had already purchased Re-reckoning previously, but felt nostalgic. Also, I had hoped that they fixed the bug where I go into the village being attacked by spiders. A guy tries to fend them off, but in my playthrough he dies. Now I can't get the house key from him to get the first house in the game. I wish they fixed that because I don't want to have to start all over. I put in lots of time and I'm around level 30.

I bought Re-Reckoning on console when it launched, I bought the original on the 360 with all the dlc. Now I just bought Re-Reckoning again on steam with the DLC bundled for 17.99 steam summer sale. I hope I've done enough to encourage a sequel

I hate that games like this and general rpg games have been on decline for a while now, you might get one maybe 2 good ones a year if your lucky.

Developers have decided that the best and most profitable course of action is to go the live service route and implement predatory microtransactions,. They don't seem to realize that there's a market for bringing some of these older RPGs and such to a modern audience, assuming they don't try to shove in ideology of course... but that's a discussion for another time.

I'm going to buy this... I don't think it's worth it and I sure as hell don't have money to throw around and buy crap, but I have to support this title. I loved this game when it came out and I want this game to get a sequel (even if it is a work on top of project copernicus). The original company went fully bankrupt because of bad deals, especially loaning money from the government, they couldn't pay and the government isn't like a small bank that have to go to court or something like that and seized their assets really quickly and strongly. THQ buying this game is probably a desperate last resort to save the franchise and I'm looking at this as a expansion plus kickstart fund to help save kingdoms of amalur.

I don’t fully remember the details because it’s been over a year but I think I got the expansion for free for pre-ordering the base game? As soon as they announced the remaster, I threw them money (because I love the game) and was worried I got scammed since there was so little updates about the expansion for an entire year. Glad that it finally arrived! Also, the game really feels like Fable but an improved version of it, that is why I love it.

They just had the game and DLC on a pretty deep sale, I think I paid $20 for all of it, which is a deal for me. I'd say no more than $30 for the base game and $10 for the DLC as reasonable, but I'd say just wait for a sale.

When re reckoning came out I remembered hearing about the dlc. Then I forgot about it, then I remembered the game again. The dlc is free with the re reckoning version I have

Dude the Fatwsworn DLC is like 10-12 hours of new gameplay in a entirely new region. It’s definitely worth the 20 dollars despite the game being old. They added a new DLC to treat people to something new after having a remastered version. Giving us something extra, I think it’s worth paying alittle money. 20 bucks is nothing, that’s like pocket change. Diablo 2 original version was out for literally years and years before they eventually released the expansion to it with act 5. And when I say years later, I mean years later. Most people thought the game was just over with a cliffhanger that would never be answered . So I mean it’s not like unheard of for old games to get new content years and years later. Especially for a remastered version of the game.

Been a fan for years. Just went and bought re reckoning last week and while not as good as say witcher, still has great play and nostalgic properties that made gaming fun. Will play it for awhile before thinking about the dlc. But everything has gone up everywhere so it's to be expected.

I love it! I Own the three platinum trophy stacks (JP PS3/PS3 & PS4) and I will happily support THQ giving this game more content, I do want a new entry in the game series the world is so big and there is so much lore another mainline entry is badly needed.

I think 14.99 would've been a more fair price for what is here. While the "remaster' of KoA:R isn't as high quality as I'd prefer, the game is still good. Wish remaster just came standard with the usual graphics/bug fix improvements, but also adding cut content that was supposed to be there originally, with the possibility of adding new expansions (like this one) if they would fit within the universe, just as a separate thing, with the remaster having all the original content in a big bundle.

It's funny that you mention they don't make games like KOA anymore. I think for the most part, that's true. But I can't but feeling like some games are at least inspired by it. Greedfall is a game that comes to mind. That game feels like a mix between the Dragon Age games, and of course, Kingdoms of Amalur. I believe this is most noticeable in the exploration and some of the mechanics (combat being relatively similar, for instance). I wish we could get a proper remake of KOA. It's a masterful game in its own right, and I'm excited to try out the new DLC. From what I've seen, it looks incredible. Unfortunately, I think the love and care put into the initial game would be lost. As shallow as the remaster is, I think it's just the best way to play this classic gem.

Had alot of fun playing this DLC, but came to youtube looking for workarounds to the dissapearing enemies and constant crashes during combat while in Vekreths Maw. I've followed some tips like Pick up all the loot and such, but it still crashes regularly. Those tips got me through the Mitharan Citadel but I'm gated at Vekreths Maw. Sometimes I can actually make it to the portal after closing the rifts and complete a bit of the portal before it crashes. Everything else is fine and works as expected, so I just do the side quests and other quests in the main game that I didnt do until they patch it.

Would pay more for this expansion, it just doesn’t get better then this. Re Rec was worth a repurchase with the difficulty adjustment fix. Love this game.
