Could be cool to have laws for your settlements. Like free healthcare gives a boost to happiness but costs resources, censored speech gives boost to defense at the cost of happiness, mandatory service at cost of resources arms all settlers with weapons, immigration controls on new settlers, etc.

I will admit. I heard of this mod from Oxhorn's overview. I went back to Fallout 4. This makes settlement management far more enjoyable and less of a headache. Sure you can still build some awesome structures...for yourself. Yet trying to build one for the settlement at times can be a hassle. When you have all of the standard settlements and even modded in settlements. So I think this was the best idea ever to be modded.

Fantastic Kinggath! I will be happy to send you my thoughts on this mod. I said from the start that one of the biggest disappointments was the settlement system. I really appreciate the "Sim" connection too, very funny. That being said, it appears you have laid the groundwork for a much larger and in my opinion better game overall. To imagine that those of us who thought about making a "better" settlement and perhaps making it into a full on town or city level i.e. Sim City, would be fantastic! Could see perks like "Wasteland Builder" which would provide a happiness bonus. The possibilities are really endless. Thanks again and happy modding!

This might be outside the scope of this mod, but how about naming settlers? Each settler having his/her own story does a great job differentiating them, but that's kind of lost when they're all just "settler". "Don't Call Me Settler" fixed this, but it was removed for causing serious bugs. If technically possible, having a settler assigned a name after assigning them a home would go a long way towards them feeling like a part of the settlement. I believe the aforementioned mod drew from Codsworth's naming bank to assign names. So excited for this mod and what it will include in the future, thanks! EDIT: Just saw your "Living Settlements" video, seems like you've already thought of this lol

first off this is a great mod and I wish it was a feature in fallout 4 because it fits so well in the game. The only 2 things I could think of that I would want are a new home site like an apartment (with maybe the large building preset) and a commercial site like a hotel that maybe you could combine a bar plot making a hotel with a bar. thanks and keep being awesome :)

Unfamiliar with loot overhaul, but all of the crops in this are custom, so they probably won't be affected by other mods. Timescale will affect the time between upgrades, and if you turn on the immersive mode (Regular Inspections in the holotape), it will affect the build time as well.

I believe that this is the coolest mod I've seen for Fall Out 4. I have a play through where I built up every settlement and it was very time consuming. This would make it seem more organic. I can zone out the area and set up a beacon. Make doing another play through less daunting. Not sure how well it will work for hang man's ally though. Can't wait till it becomes available for the Xbox.

Hangman's Alley and a few other tiny settlements will mostly have to be built the old-fashioned way. In a future update I'll add multi-unit buildings like apartments to help with those settlements.

Honestly love this mod! Never really had a grudge with the vanilla settlement system, although I pretty much just made red rocket truck stop into a fortress for my self and Buddy. Pretty much only used settlers for supply lines and nothing else. This mod makes it a bit more intriguing and that it has that automated feel for some parts but not everything makes it a lot better.

Really like the mod, and in the future I hope to see "security" or "medical" buildings. Basically utility for your settlements. Such as a "policestation" with a jail for criminals. Maybe adding some minor quests to hunt down criminals on the run for your jail. Maybe it reduces safety a bit, but gets restored once you "transfer" the criminals to other cities more capable? Just some thoughts. Also some larger plots would be nice. Got some two story house designs, but they are double the normal size. Anyway. Great job!

mw47 Taxes are based on the plots only. Part of the reward system for engaging with the Sim Settlements mechanics. If your settler is working a job from Sim Settlements, they will pay taxes on that! So you can definitely mix and match.

Not yet, I'd like to integrate taxes more but I kind of half to re-write the entire workshop system from scratch. I've already started (and is why you'll find that plot assignment is a little more reliable than assigning vanilla items), but it will take a while to get the whole thing under Sim Settlements control without breaking other mods (I want ZERO compatibility issues - we can all place nice together :) )

I am using a high level save and I have seen some issues with happiness and already built up settlements and I was hoping it was tax related. Not a big problem just have to redo stuff however I did find that this mod kind of breaks somerville place. Because we can't assign roles for the 2 kids there I can't hit 100% on the housing,job, and power tabs. I have seen the housing upgrade but not any of the commercial buildings yet while the other two settlements I have been testing are all upgrading at a reasonable speed.

Some mods you think are awesome but this one is on a level of its own it's that good - tremendous work. A question - I haven't reached the point of using up all the sensors from Museum of Freedom, but to build sensors by yourself they need fibre optics that I've only found in microscopes and biometric scanners which are not too common. Is there a possibility of running out of optics if someone tries to build up every settlement spot ?

I just came back to Fallout 4 and discovered this mod and I really like it, I would like to suggest a tweak where there is an option that once a day you get a message that says how many residences are upgraded rather than an individual message every single time one is done, since I like to do a lot of expansion at once, so I'll get bombarded with several messages stating a settlement has upgraded a house in quick succession.

Also can be used as a "shortcut " for some of the mod options.You said that you wanted to make a sensor for finding synths. The mayor can point them out and ask if the player wants to kill them or have settlers kill them, or let them be. THANK YOU for giving us free content that puts Bethesda to shame. Maybe an optional system to set settleers a managers. So if you had a zoning manager, thwey could place and manage the plots for you, a industrial manager might influence how your industiral plots are doing ext... Maybe you could set tax collectors too like provisioners only to grab your caps for you. letting you collect taxes more often but you have to pay the tax man.

Great ideas! The zoning management is pretty challenging without going settlement by settlement and pre-recording potential coordinates. Though if I think of some way to get around this limitation, I would love to give an option so that players can skip placing plots altogether - maybe one day!

If you are interested in any of my other ideas, try looking up my posts on the mod requests. Maybe zoning could work more like a global thing, like you can flag certain settlements to specialize in a certain zone, so that settlement would then build itself complete with all the plots ext... based on a similar system to the indevidual plots. So you could have residential, industiral ext... based settlements.

I've thought about doing that, but it would require going through and coming up with an optimal plot layout in each settlement, which would be quite an undertaking. Totally possible though, if someone was interested in doing the leg work of reporting back coordinates and rotation information for such a project, I might be willing to set something like that up!

I was thinking more like have a set of pre-built settlements, that specialize. So if you set a settlement to specialize in residential th mod would pick a settlemtn with mostly housing to load. I was just thinking make the pre fab settlemtets using your plots and extras. People could even submit thier own settlemts though the new settlement import tool.

Defense plots are absolutely coming. New plot types will be added in the expansions for the mod - the first is in development right now. Combining plots would be quite the technological nightmare - doubtful I'll implement that. I thought my channel was doing pretty damn good! Went from 70 subscribers to almost 7000 in 6 weeks.

Might have missed it in the videos but does the systems interact with vanilla buildings as well? Say that I want to continue building my own set-piece buildings and stores and use this system to fill gaps and extra housing beyond the set-pieces? is there any idea when a tutorial about how we can submit or add our own designs into this without being a "mod creator" because I remember you saying something about it being pretty easy and I am interested in making some of my own houses for them to build. I would also like to see more in the unlock progression you mentioned earlier a way where you could get a larger foundation for a house or store, nothing huge but like a 2 x 4 square house next to a 2 x 2 square house would add some nice diversity to settlements I think

This is a quality of life problem, but would it be possible to add a feature in where we could move the settlement status bars? I know the HUD clock mod has a similar feature and I use it to reposition the said element when I play on a tv that clips the edges of the screen. I love this mod, but I feel like the asam sensor is too valuable (its worth like 40 caps with a very low weight right?). I can basically farm them. I know I can just refrain from farming them, but I don't like feeling like a restrained god.

Well, many of the ideas here are great, but seem kinda big. Going for something smaller: how about making tax rates have an effect on happiness? cause I fail to see the point of having this "double tax" or "half tax" in game if they cause no effects. Also, dunno if this helps you but... have you heard of Bank of the Commonwealth? finding a way for both mods to work togheter would be really cool. I mean, I got both installed and all that, but... making them actually work togheter.

The tax rates are basically just a small reward for using plots and the settings are there for players to balance the mod themselves, in the future I'll probably tie them into gameplay more.

You'll have to turn off Auto-Assignment in the holotape to prevent that. I'll add a holotape option to control Unique NPC assignment in a future update so you can fine-tune a little more. Places like Abernathy hadn't even occurred to me!

Is there a way to make bigger plots? like lets say a settler takes over two or three plots and builds one bigger house, use of of other materials like concrete and the other wood? Like hes rich? lets say Tir one citiy is singel plots, tir 2 city means all plots are dubbeld and or a settler takes over the adjection plot. Tir 3 city's have much bigger houses with rooms and floors. The same would be for industries and traders. Ideas for buildings that can be unlocked as reward would be a Inn for traders and visitors, a guard post with armory.

Unfortunately, no. The Sim City style merging would be incredibly complex to pull off. Instead, I'm going to be providing third-party AddOn creators with larger plots they can make buildings for and then players will have the option to just build a more expensive plot that creates a larger building.

And I have another question. The plots I build don't require any resources at all. I have initial plot costs turned on but no wood or steel is being used. Is this normal?

That's a display error by the vanilla HUD. It's a bug I can't fix unfortunately. If you look next to the name of the plot just before you build it, there's a number in parentheses - that tells you how many more you can build. So it is using resources, it's just not showing you how many.

It's a crafting bench, terminal, and control object you can build to give you access to a lot of extra things for Sim Settlements. It can be found under Crafting, if you're using Settlement Menu Manager, it will be after the plots in the Sim Settlements build menu.

This used to be caused by HUDFramework. Try disabling that temporarily. You may also have to disable Sim Settlements as well, make a save without those mods, then load back in with just Sim Settlements (and not HUDFramework), and grab the tape again. After you get past the install, you can save again and re-enable HUDFramework.

Adam Koecke Possibly- in testing the supply routes would break so I disabled them from being able to own homes. Though you don't actually have to give them a home, just a bed somewhere is fine.

How about unlocking a special job, Tax Collector. So all taxes are pooled at a single settlement? Cost extra resources for protection because of the chance of raiders hitting it and taking your caps....

how do i collect taxes? every 2 days i get a notifcation that it's tax day and i've been paid $1.00. is that 100 caps?

They will be deposited in your workbenches. If you're only getting $1.00 (which is 1 cap), something is definitely wrong. It could be that your settler needs aren't met so they aren't paying - or you could have a save file problem that's not keeping track of the plot counts correctly. Try going to your biggest settlement, make sure all the meters are full, then fast travel (or run to another settlement that's far away if you're playing Survival), and sleep a couple days away to see if your tax count gets higher. It should be 2-5 caps per plot you have - depending on how high level they are.

kinggath yeah something is up. I have 8 people in sanctuary all with homes and jobs and I'm only getting $1. the 3 meters are full as well.

Casey Love By default if your settlers are assigned to anything, Sim Settlements won't reassign them. Either change the holotape assignment options or manually assign your settlers to the plots.

There are three available atm, Concord Museum, West Everett Estates, and the Mayoral Shelter. There are some videos in the channel showing you specifically where in each of those locations if you can't find them inside those locations.
