Please can I add a helpful suggestion. Get a porch tent/drive away awning for Custards doorway. Add in a clothes rail with hangers, all weather Flotex carpet, a cheap bench and a good doormat. Derobe in the porch, of all dirty/wet clothing/footwear then enter Custard cleanly. Opposite when you go back outside. It’ll be a godsend trust me.

Love, love, love that Aimee is promoting wig awareness (and kindness!) because we follow the career of a music artist who wears wigs due to alopecia; I am quite sure that she spends a lot of money (whether she can afford it or not) to wear expensive wigs because she is in the public eye so much -- and I think it is a shame that she should fear a negative reaction to wearing wigs. A few years back I did a similar Aberdeenshire house. Would recommend going on a lime mortaring course - there are some locally, save you 00s. If you are harling (scottish lime rendering) the house, dont try to do that bit unless you are good at plastering, it takes a lot of skill, do all the time consuming pointing and then get the pros just to do the render. Scottish trad houses have sarking - tongue and groove wood panelling as well as felt and slates, helps with insulation and helps to stop slates flying off in storms. Because you have to do everything to a high standard due to the extreme weather, it isnt cheap to do a reno there, but you can save a lot by DIYing. Good luck! Try to insulate stone walls rather than having internal timber framing with insulation between the 2 (like building regs will want) cos wee critters can get in the gap that way. Even if you dont think theres any water ingress, put in a good french drain round the house - Storm Frank turned many places with no issues into ones with water ingress, climate change means ahead of the game. The area gets very low temps and very high winds, insulate everything and dont just install things, stake them deep into the ground with chain and angle iron. Any fences need to be ranch style hit and miss horizontal or chain link/stock fence. No panels from B&Q…. ! You can disguise them quickly either with conifers for all year round or a big mix of wild roses, hazel, bird cherry, with beech for larger trees. I grew (on more exposed site) apples and hazels and morello cherry (they were sweet enough to eat raw).

Ack! Hope you're doing much, much better. Being in the hospital is a horror no matter what you have going on. There is no rest for the weary in a hospital environment. It's awful, you feel so out of control of everything. Being home you can control the food, what you're wearing and your own medication schedule. The last time I had to be in one I was crying my eyes out after only 3 days because the room was dirty, by my standards, really yuck, and I was too sick to clean it. They threw me out, discharged me, the next day, thank God. Praying that you're on your way to better health. God bless.

Can i suggest that you buy plastic totes for Everything that you store in the barn, as someone that has gone through water tank in attic bursting, and it ruined clothes in airing cupboard, soaked books and paperwork, but luckily photographs were in totes and it saved our kids baby pictures which are priceless to us.
