Hi Martina! Love your videos! Just letting you know that the malassada is actually a Portuguese treat that is very popular in Hawaii. So the origin is actually Portuguese!
@KingKogi Жыл бұрын
I know 😩 I should have mentioned it,as I actually knew it was Portuguese immigrants to Hawaii that started Leonard’s. They started making Portuguese malasada for a Portuguese holiday and sold it at their bakery and it took off. I realize looking back on it, it sounds like I’m saying “malasada is Hawaiian”but I’m grateful for having audience members like you that can also share this information when I miss the mark! 🙇🏼♀️
@firstjesse Жыл бұрын
Yea it’s actually a copy of the French beignet. You know coffee is served everywhere and some people think it’s originally South American but it’s actually Ethiopian. Hawaii grows coffee beans too.

I know through the years and through your previous channel you have talked about accessibility in Japan but I would LOVE to see a video on accessibility. I see your badge hanging from your backpack and I think so many people (including myself) are jealous at the many different ways Japan helps everyone including pregnant people. I know I get so excited at any video you post but would LOVE to have a full video on accessibility in Japan/asia.

I have visited Yokohama twice (first time around 5 years ago and second time was few months ago) and I would like to share some of my absolutely favorite places: 1 - Yokohama Doll Museum 2 - Hara Model Railway Museum If you like miniatures, dolls, and history those two places are an absolute delight! Even if you are not particularly into trains or dolls, I would say they are a must visit. My third pick is is about food, and even though it is by no means central, and takes around 35 minutes to get to - "Hectopascal" is THE BEST pizza in Japan I have had.

The streets are wider than Tokyo's Shibuya, Asakusa, and Akihabara, and there aren't many tourists, so you can spend a comfortable time in Yokohama. However, Kamakura and Enoshima, which can be reached in 30 minutes from Yokohama, have narrow streets and are extremely crowded, so be careful.

Cold brew benefits 🤯 i had no idea. Thanks so much for the tip.
@KingKogi Жыл бұрын
Yeah, cold brew is pretty awesome. I make cold brew in the summertime at home. Heads up, it might taste a little stronger, almost like a liquor, so you might want to add milk if it’s an odd taste at first. Nitro cold brew is even less acidic! The hot water that is normally applied to coffee brings out a different type of acidity that is harder on the stomach. It’s neat!
