Ms. King has the right to defend her father's legacy, HER family's legacy. If she felt the slightest disrespect or insensitivity being displayed against her parents she is entitled to it. Her father was slain, murdered, assassinated because he envisioned a better world for those that looked like him and other groups. She addressed it to Sexxy Red and the young lady responded respectfully.

I appreciated both the reaction and the response and the follow up from Dr. Bernice King. That’s how we know she’s coming from a genuine place and not a nasty spirited place like so many people want her to be or react from-it’s simply not her. Those fliers never had a name or face attached to it but Sexyy’s was posted by her with her in it. She’s always spoken against those fliers and images. I think it’s important to keep our leaders of the past in a respectable place now if they did or said something that needs to be clocked yes but for MLK he stood in the fold along with countless others when nobody else would and the King Family faced more tragedy after the loss of MLK. In other words they should know black folks don’t play about their family period and I feel like Sexyy could understand that. Now that unfunny 🥷🏾 Karlous thought he would participate someone old as hell thought he would add to it. They toe him up and rightfully so.

Sexy Redd handled the exchange with Bernice well because she knew better from jump, fought against that, & posted it anyway. A person who handles critique well has high emotional intelligence. I agree, Dr. King recognized the disparity between the haves and have nots. He even talked about the caste system in the church. I have NEVER heard a pastor do that. I believe it was the doctor who performed his autopsy who said that Dr. King had the heart of a 60 year old. Remember, he was 39 years old when he was murdered. He believed it was due to stress. Dr. King is so often discussed so esoterically. But his words and deeds are so slept on. Especially, for someone who has done so much for so many. I like what he said in his letter from the Birmingham jail: “We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people.” The King family sued the federal government for conspiracy to commit murder, due to the death of Dr. King, and won. The family was awarded $100, which they donated to charity. Mrs. King believed there was a government conspiracy, in conjunction with others. The family believes James Earl Ray was set up to take the fall.
