As a LSBW everything Justin said is true 🤷🏽♀️ light skin peoples are fetishized in the Black community, but DSBW bear the full weight of colorism especially from Black men & society as a whole. Due to looking racially ambiguous I definitely have experienced privileges in the Black community and if you LISTEN to how family members, church folk, coworkers, etc. Colorists will REVEAL themselves! It’s 2021 if your light skin and you deny colorism you need to check your privilege and humble yourself. Our DS sisters need allies, not competition or degradation. Stop gaslighting and listen. Yes we experience racism but that does not mean you don’t have privileges over other oppressed groups. We gotta do better, we got kids looking up to us. We didn’t create colorism but it’s our responsibility to help get rid of the problem. Dani Leigh, you ain’t even Black 🙃 mind what’s yours! 😤

@Niesha I have a DS sister too, I can relate! It’s up to us to protect them and be vessels of love. Colorism is so blatantly paraded in our community I’m tired of tone def conversations. We lose nothing from understanding and validating our sisters, I don’t understand 🤷🏽♀️ this Dani Leigh issue really ain’t a DSBW issue tbh, LSBW this is our fight! We’ve got to stand in solidarity and defend our sisters on this one, they are TIRED 🙌🏽 never liked the term yellow bone, another way to divide and dehumanize women. We’re not dogs, yet they divide us like different breeds 🙃 it’s embarrassing at this point. If we divested from the ideal that men use to categorize us and actually came together?! My dark skinned heart is low key enjoying these rants and people calling out this colorist behavior for what it is. So many times I’ve explained this same sentiment, especially the representation portion about the lack of dark skinned people in TV shows, to someone who was light skinned before. They said that I was jealous of them and that I was wrong. They said that dark skinned people had representation even though I mentioned that it was stereotypical. They thought that I was saying that light skinned people weren’t black or enough to be black on film. All I want is for all shades to be represented POSITIVELY. Its people like DaniLeigh that play up and benefit from colorism. Then they gas light you in the process. Well said and much needed rant.

Hard to talk to people who are gaslighting you. Unfortunately some lightskin ppl view your correct observations on colorism as jealousy to avoid the truth and they are not educated enough to even tackle the conversation. @Björn Pedersen This is an example of gaslighting. Not everyone has the resources to create a TV show. And it sad that people have to put in people who fit in their agenda rather than what is best for the greater good. And its not only TV shows that lack representation of black people from various shades. Black people weren’t even allowed on film at a time unless it was a stereotypical representation. There was even a point where black people were played by white people in blackface. The minute black people make anything for them or to represent them, it becomes a problem in society - just look at the Black Wall Street Massacre. No one is here to “coddle me” but its acceptable to coddle others because of their skin tone for years? Absolute horse crap. I would suggest you don’t respond to this and move on.

light skin women making anthems about being light skin are not needed. we know that y’all are wanted and desired. we see it in music videos & in sitcoms and tv series. we see it at work and school. we see it on social media. how the light skin influencer has more followers than the dark skin influencer but the light skin influencer doesn’t have the talent or the personality. dark skin women don’t just make songs about our skin because we want to but we LITERALLY HAVE TO! we have to work extra hard to lift ourselves up because the world is working extra hard to tear us down.
