I have to explain something to some who may not understand "BASED ON TRUE EVENTS", etc., what this actually means is the movie maker can pick one sentence, paragraph, or the whole story, sometimes even many stories put together by said storyteller and those involved, i.e. friends, family, that can also add to the story, to make these "BASED ON TRUE EVENTS" movies. I really enjoyed the film. The mom creeped me out. Acting was solid, the cinematography was very good, and I like Father Bob! I'm a huge fan. It is slow, but appropriately paced for the story told. I feel anything more would take it away from being a grounded and haunting tale. I highly recommend it.

My rule is the house have to have some kind of light on in the dark. People need to explore when things first start to get too creepy. If everyone goes through something strange and your neighbors even told U weird stories about the last family. Only get comfortable if U can tell everything is normal. Make sure nothing creepy is happening to anyone. When changes happen U know didn't before then it's time to get together and pay attention. My father would not allow a ouija board into the house when we were young and forbade us to ever play with one. When I was an adult, he would not lend me the use of his chain saw though he would lend me every other tool. He died long ago from old age. To this very day, I will not use a chain saw. Call it superstition or sentimental respect. Don't tempt fate more than necessary and certainly not for trivial entertainment.

"Based on a true story” movies seemingly imo, are the worst type of movie, because they invariably bend the truth at least a little, and usually a lot. At a minimum, they necessarily invent huge swaths of dialogue, but often, they invent virtually everything, taking history as more suggestion than fact. Frankly, “based on a true story” as a tagline turns me off a film faster than any other form of advertising, because it seems so disingenuous. Does the phrase really mean anything that “based on a play for respectability” couldn’t cover?
