Okay, this video is really great. It has strong themes of nostalgia, letting yourself get lost in your past yet still moving forward and discarding the old, even if it meant a lot to you. It makes perfect sense that, when the song was used as the ending theme for Youkai Watch Shadowside, Micchi became the focal point of the visuals, the theming fits him a lot. Micchi's lightside aesthetic takes a lot of inspiration from concepts such as superheroes and pro wrestling, all modern things to us, the viewers -- but the story of Shadowside takes place in 2040s, so Micchi's entire aesthetic would be painfully outdated in-universe, especially to teenagers such as Natsume and her friends. We do not know how many years he'd spent inprisoned inside the Crank-a-Kai -- it is possible that for him, his looks and hobbies feel modern enough, since he is not yet used to the world of the future. He is literally a transplant from another time -- everything, from his looks to his drawing style to his knowledge of kamishibai, makes him a foreigner in the world of the highly digital future. And yet, look at him -- he is not ashamed of himself in the slightest. He is proud of who he is and stands his ground, even if his new friends find him lame and his oldest, closest friend disapproves of his ways. This does not, however, mean that he is a prisoner of his own views -- he is ready to change if he feels the need for it. He has changed his entire aesthetic once, when he first developed his lightside because he found resolve to change his ways and become a hero, much to Mitsumata Mizuchi's chagrin. If he feels that he has to change again, to become a better friend to Natsume and the others, he will do that, discarding his old ways the way the tape gets thrown out in the video's ending. He knows how to cherish his past, he still considers Mizuchi a friend and readily forgives him after everything he's done, and he will never abandon the detective agency, but he is open to moving forward and learning something new every day. Despite being a supposedly ancient youkai, Micchi is still a kid who is growing and learning, and that's what makes him so endearing. He deserved to have that entire ending to himself.
