Hi. The Dark and Lovely gel is as good as Eco styler gel or any other gel with holding properties. Got2b(the black one) is just as effective, and so is Edge Booster. The technique used when laying the hair is what matters most. If you have long natural hair, work in sections on damp hair or lightly straighten your hair (if you don't mind using heat) and style it with wax and holding spray, working in sections. I use different hair gels to show you (ladies) that it does not matter what gel you use, the technique is what matters. A lot of ladies have tried Dark and Lovely and it does not hold their hair, some state that it causes flakes. Any gel will work with the right technique and patience. I hope this helps. I unfortunately can't help with the purchasing. 🌸

Hi Vivian. I also don't use any products when my hair is longer than this, but the Cantu leave-in conditioner is an exception because it isn't oily at all. I avoid oily products when “sleeking” the hair down because they seem to clash with the gels holding properties. When the hair is this short it will sleek down easily no matter how much oily products you have in it. Trust me.
