Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc |Episode 7| Collision! Choujin Ideologies!! - Review (Spoilers)

For some weird reason, streaming services seem to only have a single layer for subtitles rather than having multiple layers. Often in stuff like Kengan Ashura or One Piece when a character is introduced & their name appears on screen it'll be there for a second or so until someone starts talking. In the case of Kinnikuman POA's ep titles, they prioritize the dialogue but it's still weird how it's incapable of doing both things at once. iIf this was done by anyone else the subtitle for text would be onscreen alongside the dialogue.

Buffaloman's predicament gets more complicated as the arc goes on. We get a little glimpse by the end of these batch of episodes. Thankfully, Buffaloman's current storyline is not a retread of his original story arc. You're thinking of Sunshine; his name was kept the same in Ultimate Muscle. The leader is Akuma Shogun. You see Ashuraman & Sunshine talking to him in Episode 2 right before Terryman fights Max Radial. Shogun is also featured in the opening & has a scene dedicated to him in Episode 0. It's not a big reveal because established Kinnikufans know exactly who the Devil Chojin are referring to as their leader. The final arc of Ultimate Muscle also featured Shogun during the Demon Seed Arc which was not in the anime. Furthermore, Akuma Shogun's tease is very blatantly him even though we don't see his face.

yeah, the humans don't like deathmatches, but it's not only that tho, i mean those guys are legit villains, they tried to kill the main squad back in the OG, and it's even worse for these humans in particular because they are british lol, so the memories of the Robin Mask fight are still fresh to them, but basically their reactions are there to highlight the duality from the devils, who are now established as the anti-heroes of the arc, kinda like the Punisher in the Daredevil series, Vegeta in Namek, etc. You have the adults rejecting their ways contrasting the little kid being inspired by Atlantis's hard work and respect for Robin oh and Buffaloman's story is pretty new, not a rehash at all, but his motives are not directly exposed to the audience, but we do understand through his dialogue and actions later. Overall this episode is a big shift in the narrative for me, because it's where the narrative shows it's cards, the ideological conflict, the Devil's role in it, and how are we gonna progress from that, it's usually like this with this arc, there is a LOT of action, but the narrative is just slowly getting exposed alongside the fights, 2nd cour will have BIG expositions

Ultimate Muscle likely won't get a reboot of any sort. I asked the creator on Twitter about the reception & he said the manga did well but the anime did poorly in tv ratings. In short it's a very Gen 1 mentality for Japan. Admittedly, the new hero characters from Ultimate Muscle weren't that interesting or necessary when compared to the Gen 1 characters. Ultimate Muscle was more successful in other countries since it didn't have the knowledge or expectations to be compared to part 1 Kinnikuman. 4Kids was financially involved in the production of 26 additional episodes that aired in America first. However, I am curious what would've happened had this new Kinnikuman anime started with the 3rd manga series instead of the 4th Perfect Origin Arc. After Kinnikuman Nisei concluded, Part 3 was called Kinnikuman Nisei 2: Ultimate Chojin Tag. This arc introduced the Time Chojin which forces the new Gen 2 characters to time travel back to a Part 1 story arc. There the Gen 2 Nisei cast faces off the Gen 1 Kinnikuman cast. Had the anime started here it would've been easier to market to non-Japanese fans as we could've seen Kid Muscle again along with some familiar faces while getting to know the Part 1 characters. Thus, Ultimate Muscle fans can transition easier into the Perfect Origin Arc. But Japan really, really favors the original Kinnikuman which was proven with this time travel crossover hence why the mangakas Yudetamago went into this direction instead of continuing Kid Muscle's storyline.

I hope against hope that Ultimate Muscle gets a grand reboot one day.
