Thanks for this Kino. This is a very challenging pose -Been working on it for a long long time and still have not mastered it. Been practicing for five years now … I avoid it a lot. And teachers don’t teach it at class , because it’s hard -which is unfortunate -Now I just had double hernia surgery so I’m starting all over. Frustrating. It’s gonna take months to get back to where I was. Watching your videos for inspiration Thank you ❤️❤️🙏🤸🏼‍♂️

OMG that is what I'm meant to be doing with the twist. I thought it was just a resting transition pose and now I know where my hands are meant to be and where I'm heading. Right about now I'm quarter way there...... whooooo hooo thanks

Hi! I'm Kathrin from Germany. I've taken some Vinyasana classes before the pandemic, but I haven't done much Yoga in my life. I have always been more into martial arts, but I feel that this really complements martial arts: On the one side, it helps to improve (a different type of) strength, flexibility, and balance. On the other hand, it's a complementary way of connecting with my body. In martial arts, I feel a lot of energy and power; I feel I can count on my body and I am really proud of it. Yoga makes me more aware of my body, of how it feels, what it needs and I am more loving and patient. Not sure if over time it will also have some more spiritual effect. But for now I am just really grateful for your videos. I even stopped fast-forwarding the intro because I actually enjoy listening to you. You have such an amazing, authentically positive charisma. Thanks so much!

I’ve been practicing Hatha at home since Nov 2020. This is a challenging posture. I’m sort of comfortable at this point with my back knee on the ground. Right side is easier than left at this point. Balance & getting my palms to the centre of my chest is where my struggle is at. Looking forward the day I can be relaxed in the full expression of this posture. Kino you make it look effortless, happy to know it’s challenging for you as well. 🙏❤️🧘‍♀️❤️🇨🇦💪

Kino I’m doing Yoga for 8 years and my style of Yoga is Raja Yoga and I’m teaching Yoga too. I’m working with your Video for couple of month and love to learn this style step by step with you. I can’t do lots of poses with you as the style of Yoga that I was doing was more slow and gentle and find this style Challenging but open to learn about it as I love to fix my posture 😊

Your talk reminds me of my journey, mostly where I starting from 5 months ago up through today. I think I I started Ashtanga 6 years ago, as a relaxing/stretching day from my heavy exercise routine. After 5 months I faded off. Then 3.5 years ago I moved to the Netherlands, and to become involved in Dutch society, I emailed people about classes they offered and if they were in English. I ended up picking one of the sweetest and quickest instructors to get back to me. Just by chance, it was an Ashtanga class. It is a fun class which doesn't push too hard. But where your talk in this video really made sense is when I read the end of your book on the bandhas, which allowed me to start "playing" around with the inside of my body, noticing how I could twist different parts. Up until 5 months ago, I was twisting, but the awareness that I have today was not there. This awareness continues daily to excite me as I really think I am beginning to explore what my body's capable of, what yoga can offer and how the mind and body connection is working. (FYI - In the Netherlands, we have been under a pretty tough lockdown for about 3 months. All classes must be done streaming - its nice to see people, but I like that extra instruction I get in class, so your videos have really come at a great time. The videos allow me to take what I read in your book and connect it with my personal, daily practice.) I cannot thank you enough.(I try to listen through as many of the KZbin ads as I can in hopes that they give back to you for what you give to us. Have a wonderful rest of your day.

Your direction to "internally rotate the shoulder" was a huge Aha moment for me! And with your guidance and directions for entering the posture with the heel of the extended leg I was able to keep my heel down FOR THE FIRST TIME (I've always been a little scared of my knee getting hurt so I've always avoided it)!! Thank you!!!

I’m loving this challenge! A much needed review! I trained to instruct in 2016, and drifted away from it for awhile. I fell in love with Nidra last year and finally grasped the meditation aspect, which sounds kind of silly, but I entered YTT from a very ego centered point. The journey sent me on a spin! It’s been a wild ride. After a year of Nidra & Yin obsession, I’ve decided it’s time to re-integrate more active yoga practice again. 🥰 This challenge is really helping me to fine tune myself as well as build on my knowledge and confidence to get back to sharing my practice with others who keep asking! I’ve followed you for many years, even before YTT. You’re the inspiration that led me to an interest in Ashtanga! Thank you, Kino! 🙏

To answer your question, I've been practicing under a year, was doing some flow workouts with deep breathing at the end. Found it really helped me mentally, from there, found yoga. Was on furlough from work. Thanks again ❤️🌟

Big help. Same happened in my Tai Chi class no. 2 yesterday- we were shown how to place feet and move 45 degrees rotation in coordination with our hips and NO MORE.

Very late to this series but just want to give my thanks. My name is Maddy and i have been doing different styles of yoga on and off for a few years and when i saw ashtanga demonstration video by you i was very inspired and determined to try this very methodical style. Since I'm practicing from home ( i know its better to go to in person class but i cannot afford it unfortunately) your expert instruction through these poses is essential for me not to injure myself and be overzealous with trying to get my body into these shapes. You're probably a very busy woman and there's no reason for you to spend so much time share such detailed advice to help us other than from the kindness of your own heart. It hurts to hear that people leave you bad comments but i just want you to know for every person that says something nasty, there's a hundred more people who's had their lives changed by your existence and your work! You're wonderful and so appreciated, Kino! Thank you from the bottom of my heart 💛

A. 1. Sink your left knee down on the ground 2. Dropping your chest around the outer edge of your thigh and hooking the elbow and take your hand to prayer position 3. Take the left hand down 4. Internally rotate the left shoulder 5. Extend your right arm B. 1. Take your hands to the center of the chest 2. Draw the navel 3. Left up the back knee C. 1. Lean forward 2. Same steps as before but your back knee isn’t on the ground 3. Drop your chest around the outside edge of the left thigh 4. Drop your shoulders down 5. Internally rotate the shoulder 6. Increase the lateral stretch 7. Extend the left arm 8. Look up to your left fingers

Hi, how long you consider one should practice each position ? How much warming up before ? Aldo, i'm a little overweighted, l'aube ashtanga might be too difficult, should i enter the yoga practice with other style of yoga ? Anyway thanks for your work
