That's because. 1) of course Kinsen voices both of them (Xiao and Chongyun) and would like them to see interact together xD 2) That's because as an exorcist, Chongyun looks up to Xiao a lot since their work field are related to one another. Chongyun, in a way feels that Xiao doesn't acknowledge properly the works of the exorcists so he wants to prove him wrong one day (Canon) But also, in his worst time of need, having the person he looks up to handing him in a had is a mind breaker go him, inspiring him go move on and grow from the pain of failure (Fannon interpretation from this video)
