FWIW the term biodegradable has no standard criteria or regulation. Some product could be biodegradable within 10 years and another product could take 10,000 years. In both cases, they can be labeled as biodegradable. It's generally considered greenwashing. The term compostable is better because means a product breaks down into natural components within 90 to 180 days as outlined by ASTM.

Notice that the term 'greenwashing' is not heard to often anymore. Its the people with the most money who are doing the most 'greenwashing' now and they also control media and the algorithms.

Even the term compostable is loaded. There’s a huge difference between home compostable and compostable via an industrialised process (which in the case of an industrialised process, is rarely if ever done)
