Great music, an awesome sound track for this display. I found Kintsugi as an option for my mother's broken china pieces after I had already discarded many broken pieces, with sorrow. Had I known of this option, I would have attempted to save many, however I did retain one for repair, and will use this method. Thank you for enlightening me to the possibility of seeing this one remaining broken piece redeemed.

When my mother moved to America, her Mother who lived to be 104 gave her a little Kyusu. My Mom now in her late 80's gave me this Kyusu, which I treasure and use everyday, but I feel so anxious that I will break it! hahaha, Kintsugi gives me mental relief!

Traditionally it is totally safe if you use the genuine gold powder for the repair. It is not considered a 100% "food safe" in case you use the faux metallic powders. HAPPY 2016!!

This was very helpful to see indeed, thank you very much! I am now better prepared for my next Kintsugi Repair! My first time was a little messy, I got my gloves all dirty because I had too many small pieces and that made it tricky to work precisely! Nevertheless the result looks very beautiful! So thank you, I am never throwing away a broken cup again!

I used this kit and after the second week in the moro I noticed my repair looks wrinkly or rough. Did I do something wrong? The red urushiol was smooth before and after application of the pearl gold and silver powder (different items) but now the surface is different.

Can you use the products after the repair. I.e. is it safe to drink from the tea cup? Or is it toxic?

Hello Urushi Central and thanks for this great video! I just have a question: what if I keep using a cup for tea after reparing it this way? With time, will the hot boiling water deteriorate the joints?

Hi, urushi lacquer is heatproof up to 120 Celsius.(248 F) Water's boiling point is approx.100 C(212 F) so it should be OK:)

Would this process be okay in repairing stones? I have a malachite stone that is cracked and chipped and I thought this would be a great way to repair it.

Hello, Cannot say from the experience as we've never tried before... It should work and it's worth a try! If anyone has any experiences and knows the adhesiveness of Urushi and stones, please share with us!

Hi, you can wash with turpentine oil. Or ethanol for disinfection is okay, if turpentine oil is unavailable.

Hi! Some people get a rash from Urushi, poison ivy, or poison oak. This rash is caused by an oil found in the plants which is called the urushiol. This is no longer a problem once the urushi lacquer dries "completely." That is how, we, Japanese use URUSHIWARE daily without getting rashes. Thanks!
