உலக தத்துவங்களுக்கெல்லாம் முன்னோடியானது கிரேக்க தத்துவம் அதனை முதலில் உலகுக்கு தந்தவர் சாக்ரடீஸ். அவரை தொடர்ந்து இருவர் தத்துவ உலகிற்கு மாபெரும் பங்களிப்பை செய்திருக்கின்றனர். ஒருவர் சாக்ரடீஸின் மாணவர் பிளேட்டோ, மற்றவர் பிளேட்டோவின் மாணவர் அரிஸ்டாடில். இந்த மூவரையும்தான் கிரேக்க தத்துவ உலகின் மும்மூர்த்திகள் என்று வருணிக்கிறது வரலாறு. தத்துவ மேதை அரிஸ்டாடிலைப் பற்றி தெரிந்துகொள்வோம். கி.மு 384-ஆம் ஆண்டு கிரேக்கத்தின் ஸ்டஹிரா என்ற நகரில் பிறந்தவர் அரிஸ்டாடில் அவரது தந்தையும் நன்கு தேர்ந்த மருத்துவருமான நிக்கோ மாக்கஸ் மாஸிடோனியாவின் மன்னன் பிலிப்ஸ்க்கு அரச மருத்துவராக செயல்பட்டவர். அந்த தொடர்பு அரிஸ்டாடிலின் வாழ்க்கையில் பெரும் பங்காற்றியது. தனது தந்தையிடமிருந்து உயிரியல் சம்பந்தபட்ட விசயங்களை கற்றுகொண்ட அரிஸ்டாடில் தனது 17-ஆவது வயதில் பிளேட்டோ அகாடமியில் சேர்ந்தார். மேலும் தெரிந்து கொள்ள
