The last time the Karuka Festival was held was in 1949. Today we got to celebrate harvest and a rite of passage for first born children for the first time in 72 years.
Pom City Markets collaboration with Motu Koita Villages in Moresby South has given the opportunity to not only encourage the SME Revolution and economic empowerment that brings but an opportunity to revive traditions that are slowly fading away between generations.
As young and old find a new passion for cultural and traditional practices being revived we see an emerging opportunity for modern PNG culture and artistic talents to take stage as well. Perhaps the future of tourism in png is finding a perfect balance between the two, something we are all looking forward to discovering together as we set the tone for entrepreneurs in the artisan space for future generations.
Enjoy highlights of this wonderful day, see you at the next event.
