For the part of Whispy’s boss battle where he grows vines and turns silver, this is a direct reference to Whispy’s battles in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse where Whispy’s attacks involve growing vines with various obstacles. (More specifically, this is a callback to the second Whispy battle where Whispy is metallic and spawns those enemies)

Fun fact: I know Shay from their contributions to Kirby Wiki, and they included Metal Whispy Woods (and an enemy from a different game you'll see later) because I loved Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.
