The ending cutscene is one of the most important moments in the entire _franchise._ It's no secret that Revenge of the King is an adaptation of the Extra Game in Kirby's Dream Land, in much the same way that Spring Breeze adapts that debut title's main game. As such, it adapts the final cutscene of that original mode, where Dedede, after being trounced so thoroughly he can barely _stand,_ is face to face with Kirby once more, the yet-to-be-pink puffball having been concerned for his wellbeing and attempting to help him up. And to Kirby's surprise, Dedede cries. Rising to his feet, the self-proclaimed king solemnly trudges off-screen. And Kirby follows. This is the first major moment of characterization for the two. It shows that Dedede, despite having all the hallmarks of a classic endlessly-stubborn ne'er-do-well of a classic video game villain, has limits to how much he can be humiliated. It shows that Kirby is always willing to help, regardless of who it is. But this isn't the B-side of game one anymore. These two have over a decade of history at this point, and so we skip ahead, to King Dedede's march of shame, off to who-knows where, likely never to show his face again. We don't need to see Dedede's tears to know this is his lowest point. We don't need Kirby to walk with him into the sunset, since we already know he'd welcome him back with open arms. *But we **_do_** need the Waddle Dees.* At Dedede's lowest point, his lowest-ranking soldiers follow him. They are his goombas, his cannon fodder, the ones who likely get a front-row seat to Dedede at his worst. And yet they follow him. In spite of the lazy, self-centered, petty, downright rotten king he's been, the Waddle Dees see that spark of good in him that Kirby sees. And so they stand by his side at his darkest hour. I don't think this was Bandana Waddle Dee's idea, either. If it were, he'd be at the front of the line. Yet he stands in the crowd, merely the sixth waddle dee to show up on-screen. *His subjects **_chose_** to walk into that uncertain sunset with him, in spite of everything.* I believe this is what truly sparked change in King Dedede. This is what pushed him to _truly_ live up to the crown he so arrogantly gave himself so long ago. Because his Dees stood by him, he'll stand by them. _This_ is how we got from someone who steals all the food in the land to someone who doesn't _hesitate_ to lay their life on the line for a _single waddle dee._ *Here, under the setting sun, a self-proclaimed king becomes a self-made king.*

@@Glitche0275 Originally it was because some Kirby games (like Squeak Squad) allowed you to unlock alternate colors for Kirby, but when they stopped doing that, he just stayed pink for every power for some unexplained reason. There is some justification in some of the newer games like Return to Dreamland, and Star Allies where you can play as more than one Kirby, so they need dedicated colors for each player.

I remember playing this when I was seven on my DSI XL. I loved this game and it was my favorite DSI game of my entire childhood. I still have that DSI, and the chipcard for the game. They wanna have a fair fight, in Squeak Squad, Meta Knight is actually trying to keep Kirby from winning, so he doesn’t give him a sword in that fight, in both Epic Yarn and Planet Robobot he doesn’t do it either because he’s being mind-controlled, and in Star Allies if you refuse his offer and go straight at where he is, he jumps right at the sword and angrily kicks it away, starting the fight. Whereas here, Dedede wants to have a clean rival fight now that the only ones left are Kirby and himself, no more cheatings, hammer vs. hammer, and keeping Kirby from running away by locking both inside an electric cage

It's actually the other way around. Dedede wants revenge for being defeated so many times (e.g., Spring Breeze, Gourmet Race). Kirby probably accepted out of honor (like Meta Knight).
