Mario & Kirby: Super Star Legacy - (Episode 1)

PLEASE READ BEFORE WATCHING!
It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here...the first full episode of Super Star Legacy! :D
This episode's plot is pretty simple: After the events of Super Mario Galaxy 2, Kirby was invited to visit the Mushroom Kingdom.
As the Mario crew planned a party, Bowser and King Dedede decided to team up in order to destroy both their enemies once and for all.
While all this is happening, Wario and Waluigi decided this would be the perfect time to pull off their biggest heist yet...maybe.
I'm really glad a lot of people are interested in this series. It really motivates me to give each episode my all whenever I start working on them, and I hope this one was worth the wait. The action will REALLY begin from Episode 2 on out, so look forward to it! :)

you missed such a perfect opportunity! after bowser said "i got a plumber to squash!" it should have followed up with king dedede saying "And a kirby to clobber!" that would have made that scene pretty funny a a bit better in my opinion either way the episode is amazing and i cant wait to see episode 2!

This... This is really good. Not perfect, but then nothing is. I can't really add anything that hasn't been said already, but I will say I've never understood the hate for OC's. Sure, a lot are done wrong, but the designs here look pretty cool considering their Star Warrior OCs, there's not much you can do with them. but I'm especially impressed with the Koopa OC, excited to see how they fit into all of this. Please don't stop making this, this has lots and LOTS of potential. I will miss the opening in this episode, it fit really well with the ton of the show so far, but I understand the desire to distance yourself from Sonic music when Sonic isn't involved in any way. Consider a subscriber earned!

This seems promising, very unique, and very good! I'm really excited to see what plots and cool characters (that Koopa tho) will come up in the following episodes! This series appears to have, while having the charm of others like it, a lot of little things you don't usually see, which makes it very refreshing and suspenseful to watch! The progression of the episode, the plot and the characters were very smooth and didn't feel crammed, and some of the sprites, like Bowser Jr., were really cool and had animations you wouldn't expect, making it really interesting. All in all, this looks good. Maybe an understatement...

Nice Idea. I m really impressed. Some things did bother me. But I think you will improve during the next episodes. Keep going. Now for what disturbs me: The backgrounds sometimes really are looking too different. I mean 2D sprites with 3D graphics. Also the sound of the background music is sometimes too quiet.

Ohohoho~ I tremble with excitement! That sprite animation! The variety, the detail, the liveliness- you capture so much emotion by adding in those little extra poses and sequences! I love it! Writing could use a _little_ work. It's good- I love Mario's reluctance to call Kirby "cute" and Luigi teasing him for it, Peach's calm playfulness at the beginning, and Toadsworth and Toadbert are both appropriate, as are the Wario Bros. The antagonists, I like what I see, but they really haven't gotten their mojo yet. I'll reserve judgement- praise or critique. Kirby... I'm not so sure about. Even with lessons, Kirby is still young, still a child as far as I'm concerned. Even in the games, without saying a word, Kirby has always been very simple and straightforward, with a lot of energy- whether that be excitement or determination- so I tend to expect that in his dialogue. His very explanation for learning English seems a little too articulate, and too calm, even. Kirby sees his pals from Smash, they ask when he learned to talk and I kinda expect a "*GASP* That's right! The Smash Tournament was so long ago! My friends in Cappy Town have been teaching me! Meta Knight, too! And we've been practicing- I'm even stronger now!" Y'know? Just throwing it out there. Still love what I see; you really know how to talk with visuals. Can't wait to see what follows! :D

Now that I finally had the chance to sit down and watch this I gotta say this is amazing so far. Don't get why people were complaining about Mario and Luigi having dialogue before. They had dialogue in SMB Heroes of the Stars and nobody complained then, but they have dialogue in this series and all of a sudden that's a problem? Like come on people, yes it's weird that Mario can talk but Luigi actually had dialogue in some of the past Mario games before *cough* PAPER MARIO *cough.* As for Kirby speaking...well, of course Kirby can speak just fine, he's spoken words before, haven't any of you guys seen those videos of him hanging with Saito and Aege? Anyways that aside, this looks like the start of a great series and I hope to see more episodes.

Yes but him hanging around with Saito and Aege isn't cannon. Kirby can barely say his own name. As for the bros, Luigi does have dialogue in Paper Mario but that's a different universe. But THEY ARE shown having conversation in M&L games, even though you can't understand a word they're saying, so I think its fine if they have some understandable dialogue here. Plus this isn't cannon anyway, so I don't really care what happens here, but I do take everything with a grain of salt. I'm not trying to hate on the creators creation, I'm just saying its not cannon.

I was actually just joking about the Saito and Aege thing, I know Kirby doesn't talk much so it IS a bit strange having him talk in this series, but oh well. What I was trying to address was that I didn't see anyone complain about Mario and Luigi having dialogue in SMB Heroes of the Stars but here I saw people complaining about how they have dialogue in this series and I was like "Why?" I’m sorry if it’s long, but I have some (hopefully) constructive criticism for you. Look, I’m fine with dialogue and such, but if it’s bland, predictable, and drawn out, you’ll bore your audience. That is the exact opposite of what you’re supposed to do by making a sprite animation. I can see a good deal of inspiration from Super Mario Bros. Z (Actually in a few moments it seemed like you stole a moment or two.) this isn’t necessarily a bad thing though. A lot of great animations were made thanks to Alvin.As for your decision to let everyone talk... I can forgive that for a few characters, but Yoshi is the one that got me. Yoshi can convey his emotion and/or opinion without unnecessary words saying stuff we already know.For animation, I’ll just say, if a character is walking from one place to another, we have no need for watching it. E.G. When Luigi walked from where he was standing to out the door, you probably could’ve had the other characters’ dialogue overlapping that. Again, don’t bore the audience.Your action scenes were pretty good, I’ll give you that. The giant goomba looking back and forth seemed rather pointless, but that’s my one nitpick. Keep it fast-paced.Overall, I’d say that you’re on your way. To call you a wannabe would be a lie. I hope you’ll take this constructive criticism into consideration, and thanks for reading this all the way through if you did.

There is a big problem with this. When it comes to a series like this, take SMBZ for example, characters that normally don't talk DOESN'T TALK. And that's this serie's biggest flaw. Yoshi only talked in Mario World, and it would have made sense if it would have been just after or while the events of that game, but it's actually after the events of Mario Galaxy. And Yoshi never talked anymore after Mario World. Talking of timeline, this thing could be placed ANYWHERE on the Mario timeline, without having any troubles (unless it's while in the spin-off games) . It could have been after, I don't know, Super Mario 64? Super Mario Odyssey? Super Mario Bros. 2? The original Super Mario Bros? Just think about it. And yes, even if we would have kept the Rosalina part, it would have STILL make sense. Rosalina is at least 100 year old, because she goes to her home planet (probably earth) every 100 years. So, it makes her really old, and yet, she's still looking like an adult, and not an aged woman. Probably one of her secret and revolutionnary rejuvenating creams... Oh, sorry, what was I talking about? Oh, yeah, the video. It's still good, but you REALLY need to correct some stuff in this series. If you'll get those things out of the series, I'm pretty sure it'll be on the same level as SMBZ, and who knows, even better than it! Sorry if it's, like, an entire dictionnary, (obvious exageration) but now, I said all I had to say. You still did a good job there.

Okay, I dont mean to be rude at all, nor do I want you to change the whole story because of this, but I need to point this out because this is bothering me. King Dedede isn't really a bad guy at all, he's more of a big jerk than anything. He would side with Kirby to defeat Bowser if he was a threat to the little guy, and in this case he is I guess. By the way, love the use of Nebula Belt from Air Ride, love the soundtrack ♡
