A Croat here! Andy is kind of correct about the ić stuff. Basically ić would be male for something "smaller". Like if you imagine an object and a smaller version of it would have an -ić at the end. But basically most surnames end with -ić because their ancestors used to be recognized by one thing (a job, place where they lived etc.) but not all surnames are on -ić since throughout history we mixed a lot with Germans, Italians etc

In my opinion Messi is the second greatest of all time. The wc cemented it. Ronaldo not winning a wc isn’t as that bad of a thing because Portugal has been a below average country until 2019. Before Ronaldo they had only qualified for 2 world cups and won 0 trophies. After Ronaldo started his career they won an Euro and a nations league and they have qualified for every world cup. Ronaldo still is the top scorer of all time, top ucl scorer and assister of all time, top international scorer of all time, conquered 3 leagues (threepeat in prime premier league, stopped prime barca and was the main force in an aging Juve), won 5 UCL’s all while being top scorer and carried portugal to the Euros. Ronaldo’s record in ucl quarters, semis, and finals ( the biggest stage of club football) is just levels above everyone. The Messi fan argument about more goals in finals is also mostly irrelevant. A huge chunk of his goals have come in Cdr finals and spanish super cups ( most top players are still doing pre season during the super cup). There definitely still is a debate, and Ronaldo edges it. That is why I know Ronaldo is better. I still appreciate and admire Messi for all his hard work and talent, but Ronaldo is the goat🐐
