I watched this at the movies when it was first released. When the movie ended you could hear a pin drop. From the haunting soundtrack to the awesome scenery, the tragic story line and the brilliant acting it is the most complete film I have ever seen and I can't imagine it being surpassed. Irons, DeNiro and Morricone impressed me more than I can say.

Ennio Marricone wrote the soundtrack for the Mission with Jeremy Irons and Robert DeNiro. A moving cinematic broken heart for the native Brazilians and their Portuguese oppressors of the 16th and 17th centuries. I am moved to tears by Mr. Morricone's expression of this story. This is my favorite movie and soundtrack of all time.
