The Falcons went back to their past failures and hired an average to below average HC. This is the fruit of that! The sad part of it all is now you have to go through the entire process of letting him fail for 3 seasons. This is such a frustrating franchise to follow! The proper decisions are always right in front of them and they do the opposite.

Agreed. You don’t bench a $100 million quarterback unless it’s absolutely necessary. Doing so prematurely will haunt the team for the rest of this season and the next. The Falcons should stick with Cousins as the starter for the full season unless one of these conditions is met: he gets injured, the team has a worse record than last year, they fail to win the division, or they miss the playoffs entirely. Even then, he should start next season until it’s evident he can no longer be a viable starter and won’t remain with the team beyond next year. Here’s something to consider for next season: let Kirk start the first quarter of each preseason game, then give Penix the remaining three quarters to gain valuable experience and showcase his development. Falcons fans, after enduring several tough seasons, are understandably frustrated and eager for change. But decisions like this must be made with logic, not emotion. Penix should only start when the timing is right-when he’s ready, and the situation truly demands it. Benching Cousins prematurely risks not only undermining his confidence but also fostering resentment, which could hurt his performance when you need him most. Think long-term success, not short-term emotion.

Honestly i prediowe lose to the chargers and it was way closer than i imagined because i thought they were too stubborn to change the defense so i will say if we see the Neilson-esk defense we seen last week with the Vikings struggles at o-line this matchup favors us because kirk has played against this defense more than any similar to todd bowles and plus they like to blitz and Kirk on his good days (which hes do for 1) can throw into blitzes if we have the right routes being run to do so if im Zack Robinson im having a slant in every passing play i call and i too have noticed we tend to play best in away matchups against teams that should beat us

Was watching aaron freeman earlier and learned an interesting fact the last time the falcons played justin Jefferson was in 2020 (Raheems interm yr) we beat them like 40-23 kirk threw 3 ints against us and then went on to be one of 3 teams to beat the packers the next week packers went 13-3 that year losing to tampa in the conference championship

Kirk offered them 3 yrs at $34-37mil/yr the off-season before he got hurt. The Vikings didn't want to guarantee the 3rd year. So I don't blame him for what he did. The offer he offered wasn't obscene or out of this world.

a Falcons braintrust that is too scared to play Penix in the preseason, isn't going to toss him into a playoff race in December... on the road... against a 10-2 team, leading the NFL in interceptions and 2nd in the NFL in sacks per game. Just won't happen.

@ScottKennedy They didn't play him in the preseason to avoid a QB controversy. Can't have the fans calling for Penix right out the gate. They also sabotaged him in the Broncos game with the play calling. If Raheem keeps this up he'll get fired faster than Smith did.

I think your probably right he’ll play good against Minnesota, but I think staying committed to developing and learning will be better in the long run. At least a year unless kirk doesn’t bounce back

I feel bad for kirk i think he has the absolute worst luck ever through 8 weeks last year he was better than any qb in the league he had finally figured it out and boom he gets injured for like the 1st time ever lol now hes all in his head he took 1 step forwards and then 2 steps back but ive talked to a few different Vikings fans now and they all say the same you can never go into the next game thinking you’re going to see the same quality of play from kirk as the week before good or bad

Wins and Losses are not a QB stat. Kirk has played the same in regular season and playoffs as Joe Burrow. The difference is in the playoffs Burrow's defenses gave up 18 ppg and got him 13 turnovers while Kirk's defenses in the playoffs gave up 28 ppg and got him 1 turnover. Tom Brady had 17 top 10 defenses in 20 years never once did he win a SB without a top 10 defense. The reason Vikings didn't go to more playoffs and advance is not because of Kirk. In fact, Kirk's best 2 years in Minnesota were his first two when he had a top 10 defense.

Im tired of defending pitts but man it gets under my skin when people say hes giving up on plays when we have no clue what his actual route was supposed to be if hes supposed to run a hitch and kirk gets pressured and throws it out the back of the endzone its going to look like pitts was supposed to run a fade and didn’t and tight end play has been poor league wide with an exception of brock bowers this offense has so many weapons someone is going to be left out every week

1 We should never have drafted Penix after signing Kirk we should have drafted Bowers and traded Pitts for more picks and then used those picks to get an EDGE Remember we had a chance to draft a generationally great TE in Bowers and that lets us dump Pitts for picks we package the picks to get back into round 1 and pick up an EDGE 2 HE WAS NOT HORRIBLE LAST 3 GAMES HE WAS HORRIBLE IN 1 GAME JUST LIKE MANNING RIVERS BREES BRADY ETC WERE IN MANY MORE GAMES THAN KIRK HAS BEEN IN HIS CAREER!!! You cannot say Kirk was signed to a 2 year deal what if at the end of year 2 Kirk is playing at a pro bowl level as a top 10 QB with 25 TDs 4000 yards and 10 ints there is no way that you replace a QB like that with a rookie QB ESPECIALLY when rookie QBs bust (ie fail to become even average starters) at 80 per cent clip. Do not forget even 1 good year form a rookie QB doesn't mean they will not bust Mac Jones busted after a great 1st year so did Daniel Jones. 1st round QBs based on past 17 years have busted couldn't become regular starters at an 80 per cent clip Penix guarantees nothing NOTHING

1 I am not going to excuse the interceptions by Kirk but they are not all on him. Every interception came from a muddy pocket that is OL - this has been true all year btw. We have no idea of the receivers ran the wrong patterns or made mistakes on their route running or just stop running like Pitts does from time to time. Also using a FG K who is slumping AND injured is ridiculous that put crazy pressure on the offense and Kirk. You had a healthy Kicker ready and you didn't use him. Yet another mistake by Raheem who has made many of them. Watching that game who wasn't thinking we should have hired Harbaugh look who are DC would have been instead of Lake. I am not going to excuse the interceptions by Kirk but EVERY QB even elite QBs have had many more 4 and 3 interception games than Kirk has only Kirk is taken to task for it. K 3 interception games Kirk 8, Drew 18, Peyton 20, Ryan 14, Rivers 13. 4 interception games Kirk 2, Peyton 6, Ryan 2, Brady 6, Drew 3, Rivers 3. 2 They love to post 6 ints 0 tds last 3 games to attack Kirk. Let's look at reality. He won the NO game Koo lost it and he had 1 int in that game. The DEN game was a disaster but not on Kirk he again had 1 int the defense was missing. In essence Kirk has had only 1 really bad game that was vs LAC and a lot of that was down to muddy pockets when ints happened, likely receiver mistakes, and TERRIBLE TERRIBLE playcalling by Zac. Finally, the defense showed up but guess what to be honest they played a team with 1 receiver who got hurt, and old back up RB, and a bad interior OL the defense will not see an offense like that versus Minnesota, Washington and Carolina let's see how they do in those 3 games.

1 THE DRAFT CLASS OF QBs is average it is NOT A BAD DRAFT CLASS. 2 Wrong again: Kirk's BEST seasons were before KOC joined the team and before he had JJ his best seasons were 2018 2019 3 it is not a half game lead. It is a full game because of the tie-breaker. PANTHERS ESSENTIALLY BEAT TB LAST WEEK IT IS A FLUKE FUMBLE THAT COST THEM THEY WERE IN FG RANGE TO WIN THAT GAME you can never predict who wins a game in the NFL 4 NOBODY WILL TRADE FOR KIRK. KIRK HAS A NO TRADE DEAL. THE ONLY WAY KIRK WILL LEAVE ATL IS IF ATL CUTS HIM AND EATS 65 MILLION. KIRK WON'T BE GUARANTEED STARTER ANYWHERE NEXT YEAR IF HE HAS TO SIT ON BENCH ANYWAY HE WILL SIT IN ATL.

1 I have been a Vikings fan for 50 years we have the worst most delusional fan base in the NFL. Do Not Listen To Vikings Fans everything literally everything they say about Kirk is a lie. Kirk did NOT leave Minnesota for more money. This is what happened Kirk before the 2023 season asked for 2 years guaranteed he offered to take LESS money than was his market value at the time - he offered to take Jones/Carr money less than 40 million a season but he wanted 2 seasons. Kwesi the GM said no to 2 years. They were offering him more money for 2024 with guarantees but no guarantee for 2025. That is why Kirk even went to FA because Kwesi turned down his hometown discount offer in March. And the reason he went to Atlanta was the second guaranteed year not more money and he only went there because Kwesi turned down a 2nd year. Money had nothing to do with it. Kirk has never been greedy he took 6 million less (which was a lot more money in 2018) to go to Minnesota in the first place. 2 Kirk Cousins set the record for taking the most hits in a single season in NFL history. He is the most hit QB in the NFL since he started. He also has a lot of sacks. WHY? Because he is tough and sticks in the pocket to get off long passes and run through his progressions. He is NOT a chuck and ducker. He is as TOUGH as they come.
