He will talk the Steelers into signing Russ to a somewhat team-friendly 2 or 3 year deal heavy on incentives but incentives that Russ can meet with a reasonable facsimile of his 2019-20 self. It won’t happen until after training camp. On second thought, Russ will deserve it. Cousins? He’s finessing the NFL out of hundreds of millions of dollars. Your take on Minshew and the way the Raiders value him is fantastic. I don't know if they're always THAT smart. But here they've made a really nice, low-key, low-risk play that will very probably make their team better at very low cost (incl very little potential for team upset or friction, which is usually mighty costly these days).

The reason Russell Wilson's throws over the middle of the field is only 5.8% and significantly lower then the other mentioned QB's isn't cause he can't. It has to do with the fact he's only 5'10½ in height tall (5'11=6'ft if wanting to be generous) and his linemen who I'd say probably average 6'5-6'6 on AVERAGE in the league with many being a handful of inches taller up to even 6'9 ish range. And they are blocking in front which would be where Russ needs to look to make middle field passes.... But he STRUGGLES with being able to fully see that area 🤷. Hes limited too only seeing in the between gaps of the linemen... this is why he sticks to throwing to the outside edge receivers and having the WR in the slot do routes that either lead outward or are DEEP down the field because then hes able to see where hes throwing and place the ball perfectly 💯. Its why hes got a top 3 Deep ball accuracy, percentage since his rookie year. Unlike middle short- medium routes where he has minimal visibility/passing lane. Deep middle (all deep balls) eliminates that issue. But this is why such a big deal is created in regards to qB's heights coming out of college. There are significant factors making it harder on shorter Qb's then taller ones. And the middle field throws being one. Issues hitting linemens helmets with the pass (which happened to Russ frequently every year) cause he couldnt get it high enough where a taller Qb woulda cleard easily and made the completion. Hence why Russ thrived off play actions in a run heavy offense where Russ booted outward to out from behind the line. Or why so often plays turned into backyard football insanity from Russ evading sacks like a magician for 10 seconds then bombing it downfield to complete some jaw dropping 50 yard gain/Td lmao. Those 2 things is his strengths where he thrives. Putting him as a traditional pocket passer is his biggest weakness 💀. And him bulking up and being slower cause of it leading to not evading as efficiently has he once did while he rather hold the ball hoping to make the pass where he once would move an create space/time for Wr's to get open. Fully explains his reluctantly to throw middle to short medium field routes and why he throws a tad early on slants. And sticks to screens, behind the line of scrimmage RB tosses and deep field throws. At the end of the day seems like Pete Carroll was the best possible coach for Russ as he understood his limitations, strengths, abilities, and what type of offense, scheme/playcalling was best. A run heavy play action, deep ball/heavy screens were it. Ever since the "Let Russ Cook" idea took over it all fell apart even in his last 1½ in seattle while trying to "Cook" in a pass first offense smh

So the Packers cut Jones after asking him for another paycut, rumored to be 50% of his contract, adding 12.3m dead cap to the Jacobs deal. Basically makes the contract 4y, 60m... Then they sign an average Safety to a 4y, 68m contract, which is more than Jessie Bates makes, who is pretty much the Nr1 safety in the league right now. Oh yeah, and they lost a good starting guard in Runyan to a 3y 30m deal, which is half of what the other starting guards signed for this offseason. I don't think that was good business Packers.
