I didn't put the ESP KH-2 SE because it isn't still available, so it is "unofficial".
There's another guitar I wanted to put but I didn't find a good photo: it's the ESP KH-2 "Bride of Frankenstein".

PassionMetallica....Kirk Hammett owns one of the most iconic and revered electric guitars in his 1959 Les Paul Standard that was previously owned by Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green and then the legendary Gary Moore. The magnificent but banged up a bit due to age and use, touring cost Kirk $2 million. Small change for a multi millionaire. The late great Steven Maynard 'The Riffmaster' Clark, the real song writing genius of Def Leppard, and creator of some of the most iconic melodies, harmonies, hard rock riffs, bends and hooks also used Teles and Strats like Kirk does in the studio even though 'Steamin' was signed to Gibson. Steve when he passed had around 70 guitars, a stunning range, a beautiful red wine Dean, if anyone is interested you can check out all Steve's guitars on 'Steve Clark In Loving Memory', as it also documents the various guitars Steve used from the start to the end, a magnificent creme Les Paul Custom triple pick ups [early on he used 'sticky finger' pick ups but later on used Gibson PAFs] with Kahler tremolo was my fave but we all have opinions. This is the first ever video I have seen of Kirk's guitars, and thanks so much for putting this together. I know Kirk is a HUGE fan of MS. I have never been a huge Metallica fan but do like most of their stuff, Kirk for me is extremely under rated, a simple wah and clean as, he ended up from what I have read with ESP cos like with Jackson signing Phil Collen through Phil meeting Grover Jackson and developing not only a long time close friendship but also signing to Jackson, and the company have given Collen whatever he wanted ever since, even when they were taken over by Fender. ESP approached Kirk and pretty much the same thing happened, ESP said to him they'd make him whatever he wanted. Hence the longtime relationship and some really cool and iconic guitars. Metallica and Leppard share similar dual guitars to create a really unique sound, add the best drummer along with Vinnie Paul and Alex Van Halen in Lars [again my opinion] and they are a huge band.

No, he isn't. The "strat" he uses in the "One" video is an ESP and it's white. In "I Disappear" he uses a seafoam green 1962 Fender Strat.

His RR1T isn't custom. It's just a normal RR1T but he replaced the pickups, which I've actually seen video of him using it live on this song. Though I didn't know he had a second Rhoads.

You missed the Gibson les pauls and I never use a fender stratocaster, the guitar you say is an ESP 203 Surf Green that he used in two videos. on the song One and on I Disappear, also a black and white Jackson Strat, which appears in the video for The Unforgiven 1 and on the Ride The Lightning album tour. The one who does have a fender Telecaster is James Hetfield, which is the one that appears in the videos Nothing Else Matters and The Unforgiven II

@cikicrocus Well, he uses two kind of that guitar: a custom model made for him called RR1T with EMG (I think they still produce it but with Seymour Duncan pickups, it's difficult to find one with EMG) and a Jackson RR of the year 1981(if i'm not wrong), which was the standard model of that year, which was exactly the same.

I like this Video though I don´t play professionally guitar. Sometimes a little bit at a lake. But an old worn acoustic guitar. So what I wonder, why are the mechanics at the head of Kirks guitars upside down? Is this just for fun?, good loking or because of technical reasons? And do they have sponsoring contracts with ESP, Gibson or who ever or do they have to pay the guitars they play? How much could a guitar like Kirk´s or James ones be?

Jimbo Metal ueah i think he did along with the jackson v. also if you watch the seatle live show from 89 he plays a red super strat style guitar for loke 2 songs, i think it was either a jackson dinky or a charvel. supwr hard to tell tho, no real good angles of the headstock to see the logo, but it is the pointy "beak" style thay jackson/charvel used back then.

I'm sorry, but I've always thought Kirk Hammet plays ugly guitars... (exept for the Strats and the les Paul Custom) No offense to him of course, cause Metallica is my favourite band!
