Herbie can lay off the high horse for a while. 1) since early signing day happened, this was always going to happen. 2) the media leaked that he was leaving, so even if he did want to try to see things through, he couldn't have. 3) You personally have a history of reporting on coaches taking new jobs before they are public, one time on the morning of the SEC Championship game, for a coach who's team was playing THAT DAY. 4) If Brian Kelly was leaving for USC, no one would be up in arms at all.

Bro there's no real great way to handle that situation considering the fact that the NCAA is the one who put these coaches and players in these predicaments because of their greed for money 💰moving up the early signing period so what was he supposed to do sit there and stay with a team that's already outside of the playoffs who doesn't even play a conference championship game prolong his situation where he possibly can lose a good percentage of new recruits that he has to go out and get to fulfill his job there is no easy way people just choose to want to act so sensitive about this situation

@mikeplata31343 жыл бұрын
When is Gameday's segment on Riley in the way he left OU? Oh he left for USC, so it's cool. Blame the NCAA for the timing of these coaching changes. The early signing period means if a coach wants a new job at a big school, he better take it by the first week of December to give him at least 2 weeks to solidify the current recruiting class. You can't wait until after bowls anymore. Most recruits don't wait until February to sign nowadays. And to you who are saying it was just about the money: Why didn't he wait for a counter offer from Notre Dame? He could've let both schools get into a bidding war for his services, but he didn't. He knows he can't win a championship at Notre Dame. LSU gets better recruits, has better facilities and Kelly knows that money will never block him from getting an assistant. He thinks he's squeezed as much out of the lemon as he can at Notre Dame. He just won't say it publically out of respect for his former players and school. Now he's getting trashed because he wants to coach the best players with the best support and the best facilities while coaching against the best coaches in the best division of the best conference. How dare he want to surround himself with the best. We all should strive to challenge ourselves against the best of our peers. At least he wants all the smoke in the SEC West and didn't run from it like Riley. 🙄
@mikeplata31343 жыл бұрын
@Malik Will Riley was recruiting players and coaches from OU to USC while still on OU's payroll. Yet no one in the media criticizes him for that. They're worried about if Kelly is a cultural fit, yet never ask the same about Riley to Southern California. Again, blame the NCAA. If Kelly waits until Notre Dame finds their playoff fate, LSU probably moves on and hires someone else because the early signing date accelerates everything.

It's interesting how Pollack mentions that Kelly left to go to LSU because he wanted to coach with players that are equal talent to his competition. Yet, it seems like ND is recruiting at a much higher level since Marcus Freeman took over. Reality is that Kelly wanted to go somewhere that he didn't have to recruit hard to get elite talent. Marcus Freeman, on the other hand, prioritizes elite recruiting and holds his staff accountable for landing elite recruits. And, what do you know? ND is suddenly the #1 recruiting class in 2023 as of right now. Imagine that. Maybe if Kelly put in the kind of effort that Freeman is putting in, he'd had that "equal" talent to work with.
