If you could read the fine print at the bottom of Kirk's resume - his body was recovered for Project Phoenix (from death - rebirth) definitely using the medical bay music for the body. This maybe opens the door for a Shatner return (granted can’t assume he’ll be able to return much longer as he ages) I doubt that’s what this is or that he’s alive. When you think about it, considering what happened with Shinzon in Nemesis, it’s obviously easy to clone from very little genetic material. So it makes a lot of sense that Section 31/Starfleet would want the most prominent flag officers in history buried at a site anyone could rob from. Last thing you’d want is a Kirk or Picard being reverse engineered to go against you from a morale hit alone. So Kirk, Picard and other famous officers likely are kept at Daystrom with a ceremonial burial site and no body publicly.

I saw that bit... I... I don't know what to make of it. My take on the real world relationship between Trek and William Shatner is that there is no relationship. I mean the Shat is still proud of his work on Trek, but he's been very critical of the more recent shows and the decisions made for them. In return Trek seems to have shunned him even going so far as to belittle him... making images of Kirk in ads smaller than the other characters or not even including him in one promo ad I saw recently. Who knows, though? Maybe there's been a bit of a thawing out between them? Or could be as you say a red herring. Or they could be planning to bring the Kirk character back but with no participation from William Shatner. I mean... they did cast a new Kirk in the last season of Strange New Worlds... but we know that this HAS TO BE the original William Shatner Kirk in that chamber. All of this is well and good, but what pisses me off is that I think it's Raffi that sees it and she like doesn't even really react to it. I mean... it freaking says, "JAMES T. KIRK". Every Starfleet Cadet knows who he is. You'd think there'd at least be some kind of freaking reaction! This is a new mystery for sure. What the hell is section 31 doing with Kirk's remains? I like the idea that Kirk is in stasis. It has nothing to do with Ashes of Eden or The Return novels. For one thing, they don’t consider the novels canon. Another thing, if they did consider the Shatner novels canon, then we wouldn’t have seen the Enterprise-A at the museum since it was destroyed in Shatner’s first Kirk book (which takes place just before Generations). I figure that his body is in there for roughly the same reasons the Changelings want Picard’s body: probably to pull memories from it. Both characters are chock full of info that could be useful to an enemy of Starfleet. If I remember right, the Romulus stole Kirk from his grave to do just that. I’m hoping that if they’re teasing with that Easter egg of info, then that means something either in a few episodes or maybe even another series after this one. Just have him show up. It might be a cool thing to do if they make that rumored legacy series TNG cast are pushing for. 2:46

whether Kirk is alive or not. What makes me happy is his corpse is no longer rotting away on Viridian III. That bothered me that Picard was so disrespectful to leave one of Starfleets most decorated captains on a barren world under a bunch of rocks. Maybe the reason why they stole Picards remains is because he was a high level Borg. Locutis of Borg was 2nd to the queen maybe the changelings have a hold of some Borg cubes they wanna activate. Even antiquated Borg tech is still very leathal hell they just have to assimilate one ship and instantly upgrade everything.

The security seems a bit lax at Daystrom Station, especially since Picard and the portal weapon have already been stolen from there. They can't afford a security presence 24/7?
@smokelesschoice165 Жыл бұрын
Captain Picard died in Season 1 of "Star Trek: Picard" and was then put into a synthetic body. Why can't the same be done with Captain Kirk? It wouldn't make any sense to only show "vital signs" of Kirk on Daystrom Station in the episode "Bounty" and that would be it. If that's all we see on Kirk, it would be pointless IMO.
@colthunter9210Ай бұрын
i think his body is kept there because it was found on Veridian III and removed just like the saucer section because of the Prime Directive. Its probably just in cold storage. Technically Star Trek History records his death.

Shatner wrote a sequel of sorts to generations, Kirks body was exhumed by the borg and brought back to life. This would be about 29 years before this episode of picard.

If you want a copy of Captain Kirk memory there is a version of his memory up to a certain age. Go back to the robot planet where doctor korby was. A lot of Captain Kirk's old memories are probably still in the computer where they made a robot start back then.

@ShihansDojo Жыл бұрын
To many ways he could be alive in the series. Shatner himself wrote a book series of him coming back and traveling with Spock, Scotty and several others. Depending on how they could handle it, it could be a section 31 idea of stasis of the body or the one from the books. There could be even more than one Kirk there because of it.

"Jack Crusher" has an interesting attachment to a captain's chair that Picard never had, and he very longingly is looking at only one of the ships at the museum. If this is just member berries, it is terrible writing, and Matalas should be spanked. If they literally bring back a clone of Kirk, admittedly the greatest captain Starfleet has ever had, to bring down the Federation, yeah... message. Ballsy but could go sideways badly. This now reaches the no-return point. All now hinges on if they can stick the landing. Clones are bad writing, really, in general. Somehow, "Palpatine returned" remember?

I think its more like scans from the body. The one last seen in Star Trek: Generations I would imagine Section 31 pretty much took it from his burial place and is now studying it. You know in the hopes that like Picard they can send his everything into a Clone or a Human/Android hybrid like Data and Picard.
