To be honest, I don't actually know when the cine film was shot. The main part was probably mid-sixties, the clip at Rabbit Braes might be more like 1970.

It was the bit coming up from Cluny in 65 and passing the chapel home farm I could just make out the two wee cottage's where I grew up in the 60s brought back so many fantastic memories ❤❤

remember the original road went past Home Farm and down to Chapel Level. It's still there but it's only an access road to the newer houses, leads past the Dean Park Hotel and comes out at the bus turning circle. Single carriageway road with just that narrow path on the left side, the exit from Broom Road on the right was opposite where Chapel Farm was. All the fields on the left side, now Retail Park and Hollybrae houses

Fascinating video. We’re not natives, we moved from Edinburgh in the late nineties to the new houses at Seafield, on the Kinghorn road. Hard to believe it was over twenty years ago. We love Kirkcaldy. It was quite a big move for us, but we’ve never regretted it.

I miss the days when you could tell each car coming towards you by its distinctive shape. Today they are all computer designed shapeless blobs which you have to check the badge to see what it is.

I went to Dunearn Primary School at the foot of the slope and as far as I remember the side of the hill was just one big grassy field. Were there trees there before the sixties?

The Sauchenbush houses you see at the end (Pentland Place) were the old tin cans. I left in 1970 and were still like that. Not sure when they were done up. Early-mid 70s I guess. I also remember the wee garage/patrol station at Cluny roundabout and that bus I was on often, going to Cardenden pool as Kdy didn`t have one in the 60s. There was a farm where the retail park is now. Where your film ends, I remember Tam Muirs scrappy and also remember these houses getting built since I was from the `Bush. Happy days and thanks for sharing 👍

I remember the farm on Chapel Level too. Every time I think of it I feel sorry for the farmer whose lovely house was demolished. Hope they paid him a lot of money.

the houses around Dunearn Drive/Pentland/Cleish were rebuilt c.1977-8. I remember going past them in the Torbain school bus to/from St. Maries in Dunnikier Rd, where we went until the new Torbain was opened in 1978. The houses were stripped (lots of sheeting and Asbestos warnings!) then new exteriors built around the frames, i suppose. I remember the Muir's scrappy, always seemed to be full of old buses! There's a church there now but still the same dug-out bit, it was originally a quarry.

Most of my old cine film is already online, apart from the embarrasing baby footage. There's more Kirkcaldy at - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmionWlvfpaem5osi=MsOJsYYbHLVT1ThT
