is this real diamond ? What is the difference between Diamond and quartz?

Yeah that's an interesting specimen! Looks like clear quartz aka herkimer diamond, but I'll be honest I've done so much research and it's extremely hard to find out real information when trying to identify minerals and gemstones alot of the time. Diamond testers I guess are not always reliable, plus there's a better way to identify diamonds and that's by learning all the unique properties. The ultimate game changer for me in identifying diamonds was when I bought a gemologist loupe with x80 for less than $20. If you look hard enough with the right angle and lighting you should be able to tell if the stone is isometric or hexagonal. Luckily the one you are holding is gigantic so you don't need a micro scope to see that it's not a diamond. I'm not sure if it's due to the camera lense, but it looks like there is some display of Pleochroism, which would mean that this isn't quartz. There are MANY clear crystal gemstones that are colorless just like this, even sapphire, which in fact is a stone that displays pleochroism. So if it's not the camera doing that, I would have to say based off of my guess is that it's more likely a sapphire than quartz. Who knows though it could be a few other things as well you would have to do a little bit more digging. Gemstones and minerals are extremely difficult to identify with the eye alone.

Keep in front of sun if rainbow colours apear its not diamond ..if gray color comes then u r lucky to have that diamond , as we all know diamon will not shine like crystal its shining is little lower than crystal

It gives a rainbow color because it contains titanium particles. This is a semi-precious quartz. The diamond becomes dull and when cut, its beauty is revealed.

Moonstone, opal, quartz and diamond all have blue flashes. Use a electronic diamond tester.

that's obviously quartz mate. look at the shape and all those pores. diamonds in the rough still have straight edges and bipyramidal shape. besides it's very unlikely you could find a diamond that big. and impossible outside india or africa. you could try to scratch it with sandpaper
