Yeah but when you think about it, room temp soda makes more sense than unrefrigerated ketchup. Even though they can both be stored at room temp *when sealed*, soda is usually meant to be drank in one go, meaning you break the seal and then it's all gone. With ketchup, you usually don't consume it all in one go, meaning after you break the seal, the opened bottle is just out there until it's finished, which usually takes a few days. The idea of eating something liquid that's meant to be put in the fridge that's also been left out unsealed for more than a day is kinda weird if you ask me.

@@corvus9359 ketchup is a preserve, and can last like a month unrefrigerated after opening. It's literally, not figuratively or metaphorically but literally, not an issue unless a bottle of it lasts longer than that for you. All that sugar and vinegar in it isn't just for show.

At my house, we found a un-opened bottle of ketchup that was stashed away in a cupboard. It was 2 years old. I put it side by side with the new bottle we had of the same brand... and guess what? They looked the same. Perfectly good for consumption! I'm kidding. The old bottle had turned a disgusting shade of dark red - almost brown. We threw it away immediately. Also, Pippa is right because most food lasts longer if it's kept in the fridge. Also also, another wonderful animation~
