So true. I badmouthed cheap colored and watercolor pencils not knowing that I burnished the pigments. Later I realized my user mistake from charcoal drawing. If I sketch using light touch and then gradually build intensity where it is needed, it should also apply to colored pencils.

Okay, so: *Don't: Don't put too much pressure on the pencil Don't do a dark sketch Don't shade everywhere Don't limit your colors NEVER shade with black, use brown or one color darker that your base color. *Do: Preserve the light spots Avoid (dark) outlights Softer transition Use a grand scheme of colors Think of the contrast on your transitions (If you are using watercolor pencils, ) Try to blend a bit Sharp your pencils regularly Use a reference and compare to it Woow, that take a looot of time lol Some might be missing (and maybe already have a comment like this)

When we didn't learn basics
@qupzy96004 жыл бұрын
1. Don't use a lot of pressure when shading and try to keep it neat and consistent by drawing lightly. 0:31 1a. Hold pencil further away to draw lighter and draw in circular motions. 1:48 2. Have a light sketch before starting 1:18 3. Keep color transitions soft by lightening pressure when blending two colors. 2:20 4. Try not to outline the drawing with dark lines 3:00 5. Go in with shadows first, and apply lighter pressure where you want shadows to fade away into midtones or highlights. 3:50 6. Preserve highlights by leaving brightest areas free of color pencil and go back and shade those in with white. 4:30 7. Aim for contrast in values and hue by using the whole value scale, and use a lot of different hues to add more saturation. Try to make sure there are strong highlights and shadows. 5:40 7a. Turn drawing and reference into black and white by taking a photo and editing it to check your values. 8:10 8. In place of black, darken up colors by using a darker version of the color you're already using or try other dark colors like browns. 8:45 9. Blend out colored pencil with solvents, such as Zest-It or nail-polish remover, and a Q-tip or brush 10:08. 10. Keep your pencils sharp when using them. 11:00 11. Build up your color in layers and compare the contrast of your drawing to the reference. Exaggerate the highlights and shadows more. 12:01 12. Go over the entire drawing again, even areas you think you finished and add more shading. 13:25
