Amazing Assa-Ki-Var. Bhai Gurmukh Singh was well trained by his father Bhai Bahadur Singh Ji. In the Nairobi Kirtan tour late 60s his played Tamura and Amazing sweet voice. He continued the legacy. Thank you for this high quality recording and sharing this Gem. Thank you Kirtan Sewa for bringing it to us. Loved Bhai Gurmukh Singhji memories and both side Baja Bhai Sahib and amazing Tabla.

Loved the Tabla accompaniment. Old Raagis like Bhai Samund Singh Ji had tabla playing non-stop in an Assa-Ki-Var as he did here. He played many difficult Bhool and many off beat. But at 2:33mins into the recording he played a Tripali that only attended by Ustads. Totally out of the world these days!

So sad that nowadays nobody sits down to listen to a 3hr+ Asa di Vaar, and we don't normally get to hear this level of accomplishment often.

Sangat can only listen if it is sung for 3hrs by Raagis. The dad part is that Gurdwaras don't even give 1hr for a evening Kirtan. In Canada Raagis are given 20 or 25 mins .The Gurdwaras have changed the format of Kirtan that Raagis don't provide information or teach the Sangat Shabad (Raag, Taal, or where the Shabad was sung by our Guru Ji or related Sakhi).

@@sukhichana True. And this has lead to lack of knowledge in the sangat. The gurdwaras now say that sangat likes simple non-raag tunes. The gianis don't even get time to give related parchar along with the shabad. Hopefully things will change somehow.
